240 - Can Cruise Trip Keepsakes Ruin Finances?

Today we're going to ask the question, can cruise trip heapsakes ruin finances? Let me start with Psalm 119, 36, NLT. Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love of money. Ezekiel 13, 18.
0:40 This is what the sovereign Lord says. What sorrow awaits you women who are ensnaring the souls of my people, young and old alike. You tie magic charms on their wrists and furnish them with magic veils. Do you think you can trap others without destruction being brought on yourselves? Wait a minute, these symbols were ensnaring the souls of the people? Yes, that's what the Bible says. So now I have a story for you. This couple was pretty financially set for the rest of their life. They had their finances in order, were enjoying a great retirement without worry or financial concern of any kind.
1:27 They went on a cruise visiting several countries including Egypt. While they were in Egypt, they bought a set of heapsakes, little statues, maybe idols, which I'm sure were just historical relics to them. They bought the idols home with some strange Egyptian art and they put these things in their home. They put the little relics in the man's office where he did all of his financial trading and investing. After that trip, after they came home from that trip, the finances began to take a turn for the worse until they spiraled into a big problem and now they were no longer financially set but were in need of help from their family just to make ends meet the last years of their life.
2:28 After they passed on, the family were cleaning out the home and the office and they found the little idols he had brought back. They remembered the timing of the idols and the timing of the financial decline and they realized that coincided. They threw away and destroyed those four idols that they found. They thought they'd cleaned all the idols out but then the husband and wife both had the same exact dream that there was one more idol that they had missed. The dream even told them where it was located in the home. They went back to the house, found the fifth idol in the exact spot the dream indicated.
3:11 They were hidden behind some books on a bookshelf. Be careful what you purchase on a vacation. In a lot of today's thoughts, let me suggest part of your personal battle plan might be to, number one, think back to when something changed for the worse in your life and ask God what you might have done to cause the problem. And number two, pray for God to reveal anything you've accumulated in your house that might need to be destroyed and removed. You might pray like this, Lord, I don't want anything to ensnare my soul or keep me from the closeness of your presence. Please show me what I need to change or what I need to eliminate that would hinder my relationship with you so I can destroy that item and honor you in Jesus' name.
