From Iran to Influence for God's Kingdom: The Story of Fred Saleh

Former oil industry executive Fred Saleh never expected to be a pastor. He was far from the Lord when two of his children and his wife gave their hearts to Jesus when the family lived in Iran. But God got Saleh’s attention and transformed his life. He now leads Acts 13 Christian Ministries, the international arm of Church on the Rock in the Toronto area. In this Charisma Connection episode hosted by Chris Johnson, “Pastor Fred” shares his life story and teaching from his Breaking the Silence book series.

Charisma Connection

Guest: Pastor Fred Saleh

Pastor Fred Saleh

Fred Saleh, author of Breaking the Silence, threatened divorce when his wife got saved. He thought her newfound faith would destroy his career as an oil executive in Iran. But much to his surprise, Christ later saved him, and he started to use his influence to witness to Muslims in his profession. When he took a stand against kickbacks and their animosity increased, God showed Fred He had new plans for his life and family. Eventually, Saleh transferred to London and found himself in a high position in the oil industry. In this critical role, every person who had come against him for his faith in Jesus ended up working for him!

Saleh studied theology through the Assemblies of God and Elim Bible Institute. Today he helps pastor the congregation at Church on the Rock in the Toronto area and leads Acts 13 Christian Ministries, the church’s international ministry.

In this podcast, he calls the church out from the world to serve as a testimony to the sovereignty of God. Pastor Fred does not subscribe to isolationism, but he also doesn’t believe Christians should be involved in politics and the kingdom of this world.

He gives a definition of the gospel and cautions against limiting the gospel to John 3:16, as important as that verse is.

He also shows Christians that they have a personal life in Christ as well as a corporate faith. They must subscribe to the whole truth of God and put their all on the altar, not live lives of easy believism.

He also discussed the biblical principle of “one new man in Christ” as well as the place of the church and the Jewish people in God’s plan. He calls on the Christian to draw near to God, who will then draw near to the Christian. It is the Holy Spirit who teaches and empowers believers how to live.
