Introduction

Dr. Steve Greene: I'm so excited that one of our regular guests is back with me today. I love this man. I love what he has to say. I know that our listeners do as well. And so, we're in for a treat and another opportunity to sit at the feet of Michael Snyder to speak with him about some of what he's written for us online, but also for what comes from his heart and from the anointing of the Holy Spirit. So, Michael, thank you for your time and welcome back to the green lines podcast. I'm intrigued by this story, by the column that you've written recently: The 40 Facts That Proves the Moral Collapse is Spinning Wildly Out of Control. So, talk to me, what's the moral collapse that you're seeing?

Michael Snyder: Today, a lot of our focus as Christians and conservatives, we're focused on the political realm. We've kind of equated a political takeover of the White House or of America with a Christian takeover. Republicans have had some victories in recent years but that doesn't mean that the country as a whole is headed in the right direction in terms of restoring America and turning the trajectory of our nation around. If you look at the numbers, no matter who has been in the White House or who has been in control of Congress, the moral numbers, the numbers that say, hey, are we doing things God's way or are we going against God's way, but the numbers continue to move in the same direction no matter who's in control politically. I'm speaking as someone that actually ran for Congress not too long ago as a member of the Republican Party. So, I believe in being engaged in politics and we need to be engaged in those battles, but ultimately, what ails our nation at the core is a heart matter. I wanted to do this article because sometimes we focus on particular issues, whether it's abortion, whether it's gay marriage, whether it's something else. But I wanted to put this article together because when you look at things as a whole, it's very, very disturbing to see where we're going as a nation.

·         Michael Snyder Asks: Are We Destroying the Future to Live in the Present

Dr. Steve Greene: Yes, let's deal with the abortion issue first of all. We've had a couple of states say wait, let's back up from this and a governor the flat out said we're not going to do this anymore. What do you think of that direction? Is that something we might see across the country?

Michael Snyder: We're hoping that more states will pick up the banner and say, hey, we're going to start to try to pass laws to oppose abortion. Of course, anytime the laws are passed they’re immediately challenged in court. Because our court systems are so dominated by liberals, a lot of times anti-abortion laws are struck down. But on the other hand, we've seen states such as New York push for abortion all the way up to the moment of birth. Ultimately, we're seeing these battles on the state level. But on a bigger picture, we continue to see the same trajectory in as far as the nation as a whole where in terms of the entire country, what the country wants, they've taken polls where they asked, OK, what do you think about Roe vs. Wade? We're seeing that overwhelmingly the country wants to keep Roe vs. Wade in place. In fact, most recent polls have shown that about two-thirds of Americans want to keep … in face, a recent Quinnipiac University poll showed 63 percent of all Americans want to keep Roe vs. Wade in place. That's nearly two-thirds. Other polls have shown it closer to 70 percent. So, even after all this time, even after all the national discussion, they want to keep it in place. Even the Republican Party … you look at D.C. when we elected Donald Trump, the Republicans for two years had control of the both houses of Congress so they could have done whatever they wanted to. But instead, we saw a lot of inaction. The nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, who has done that the largest portion of the 60 million children that have been killed since 1973, they continued to have full funding all along throughout this entire time period, even when Republicans were in control. And then of course, as we talked about in the last program, how Planned Parenthood not only kills these children, but then they harvest organs and sell them off for scientific research. The federal government continues …. it was just renewed … in fact continues to fully fund the research that is conducted on these harvested organs. It’s just evil on a level that is hard to imagine. Yet most of the country, they fully want Roe vs. Wade to continue. Let me just say a word about the Supreme Court. A lot of Christians are saying, well, at least we're getting some good people on the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, it's not as good as people think.

Let me just say a brief word about Justice Kavanaugh. The conservatives fought very hard to get him in, but once he got in, now we've seen him, in a number of decisions, side with the liberals. And we said well, at least he is good on abortion. That's what people think. But in order to get on the Supreme Court, he had to get the vote of Susan Collins of Maine. We know Senator Susan Collins is pro-choice, and so Susan Collins, when she went to the Senate floor to announce that she was supporting Kavanaugh, she explained what happened in the one-on-one conversation she had with Kavanaugh. She said she asked him directly. Hey, I'm concerned about Roe vs. Wade. And, if it's a 5 to 4 vote, will you vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade? I want to know. He said, no, I promise you I will not vote to overturn Roe vs. Wade if it's a 5 to 4 vote. I will wait until there's a solid majority, at least six votes. So, in order to get his place on the Supreme Court, Kavanaugh promised Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine that he would not overturn Roe vs. Wade if it's a 5-4 vote. If people want to see this, this is Susan Collins’ speech on the Senate floor. It is up on YouTube, it's all over the place on the Internet. This is public record. So, he actually promised not to overturn Roe vs. Wade on a 5-4 vote and now that he's been on the court, he's proven that he is a kind of a liberal voice on there. I warned about this in advance, but it was kind of drowned out by this overwhelming push for him because he was so opposed by the Democrats that the Republicans thought well, he must be good because the Democrats hate him so much. But in reality, he's not as pro-life or as conservative as people think.

Dr. Steve Greene: Well, it came out. I heard it a few times during the hearings, but it was always underplayed as you've identified and makes me nervous as to what he might do when we get to religious freedom issues or some other things down the road.

Michael Snyder: His mentor was Senator Kennedy, who actually wrote the decision in the gay marriage issues that legalized gay marriage in this country. That's another element where we've seen a massive cultural shift where, if you go back a little bit over a decade ago, two-thirds of all Americans were against gay marriage. Today, two-thirds of Americans are for gay marriage. Now, that's not repentance. That's kind of the opposite of national repentance. We see the strongest numbers for whether it's abortion, gay marriage, all these issues among millennials among our young adults, where they're dramatically moving away from the ways of God and so many other areas that I mentioned in this article. If you want to talk about pornography where in my article I mentioned about McDonald's feeds approximately 70 million people a day globally. But just one pornography website alone, among the millions of pornography websites, one pornography website gets more than 78 million visits a day. It's just an epidemic not only in our culture but in the church where a majority of Christian men in various polls have indicated that they struggle with this. I know Charisma News has covered this extensively. And it's not just sexual sin. Today, we're seeing drug overdoses and drug problems more than ever before in this country. Today Americans are more likely to die from an opioid overdose than they are from a car accident. That's the first time in in U.S. history. One out of every four babies born in the city of Baltimore is born as an opioid addict and that's just one form of drug. Our society is not moving back to God, our society is rapidly moving away from God. Just about every type of sin or evil that the Bible talks about is exploding in our society today. If we ever want to make America great again, it's not about achieving political goals. In reality, it’s a heart issue. We've got to turn back to God's way of doing things. Otherwise, there's never going to be any sort of a positive future for our nation.

Dr. Steve Greene: Amen. You've got a list of 40. We've talked about two or three key signs of how run amuck were becoming. Do you have a couple more you can add before we run out of time today?

Michael Snyder: Absolutely. You look at the family. The family is really the fundamental building block of our society. The lack of a fundamental support system is one of the reasons why so many people are adrift. They seem like they have nobody today because families are broken. And today, of course, a lot of people are not even getting married at all, they're just living together. That way, it's easier for them to break up. The number of married couples with children in the United States today has reached a 56-year low. That’s not just the percentage. The percentage is way, way down. Even the number, if you go back 56 years ago when our population was much lower, and compare it to today, the number of married couples is even lower than it was back then even though our population is more than doubled since then. If you go back to 1970, about 10 percent of all births in the U.S. were happening outside of marriage. Today, that number is 40 percent, which is crazy. It's leading to a problem where we don't have fathers in the homes today. Approximately one out of every three children in the United States lives in a home without a father. This particularly affects our young boys because there's not that male role model in our home. So, we've seen where, particularly boys and young men, are getting into trouble. The suicide rate for young men and boys is higher than it is for girls. At every level of education, boys are trailing girls today. You look at educational achievement even in college, where 58 percent of all college degrees are earned by women today as men are really struggling. Then, of course, men make up most of our prison population. The U.S. has the largest prison population in in the whole world. In fact, one out of every four people in prison in the entire world is in prison in the United States. So, we've got a real crisis with our young people, particularly our young boys. That's not going to be easy to turn around.
