Introduction

Dr. Steve Greene: Well, this is one of my favorite shows. I don't get to say that very often. I have a couple of favorites. I don't play favorites, but I have favorites. I love to interview people. But there's just one person in particular, that I really enjoy having on the show because of she is an who she is in reality. What you hear on this show is what you're going to see if you meet her in the airport, if you hear her preach in church, if you see her in the church lobby or anywhere else you'd bump into her. You're going to hear Real Talk Kim be real. So, I want to welcome back to the podcast and I'm begging her to be a regular on our show to come back more often. Some of you know her as Real Talk Kim. We also know her as our friend and esteemed colleague. It’s the only time I’m going to be serious. She's a woman of God and you don't want to underestimate her because of her great joy and her frankness. Don't underestimate that this is an anointed woman of God. Kim Jones-Pothier is with me on the podcast. So, Real Talk, welcome back.

This is my favorite time of the year. I get to talk to you. I looked forward to it all week. I told my wife that Monday is sometimes one of those days it starts the week off slow. My Monday is starting at about 90. We're gonna go. So, what's God doing with you?

Kim Jones-Pothier: I’m so honored to be here man. You know what? I'm writing another book. When You're Bad Meets His Good is doing awesome. I'm traveling like crazy, man. And God, He trusts me.

Dr. Steve Greene: Where did you preach yesterday?

Kim Jones-Pothier: I was at the Shine Conference at Faith Church. So, basically what I did was I handled all of their Sunday services. They five massive campuses. So, I preached and I would run up on the stage and preach for 30 minutes, and then have a car waiting on me. And they would take me 19 minutes down the road to the other campus and bring me back 19 minutes to the other campus. I did eight services.

Dr. Steve Greene: Which Faith Church were you preaching at, there are so many Faith Churches?

Kim Jones-Pothier: You know the Cranks in St. Louis? It was their church.

Dr. Steve Greene: They remind me a lot of you. She gets going.  They're both great preachers. I had a real good podcast with them a couple years ago. I haven't talked to them since but they are great people.

·         Listen to Real Talk Kim at the Shine Conference in St. Louis

Kim Jones-Pothier: I tell you, I just they make me want to drink all kinds of that grass stuff. They do this and go a lot more than me. They're just go-getters and they run those big old churches. I was just super honored that I got to go preach at her women's conference. It was so incredible. People were flipping out of the ceiling. Cirque de Soleil. Oh, my goodness. It was like definitely one of the best conferences I've ever seen.

·         Register for Level Up Conference ’19, June 21-22, in McDonough, Georgia

Dr. Steve Greene: Tell me something you saw happen.

Kim Jones-Pothier: Man. So, her daughter opens the conference. And she's got a big old black tutu on. And she's being hung, just moved around all the sanctuary, singing up in the air. That was the opening act. Then their drums were way up in the air hanging. He was playing the drums in the air. It was just unbelievable. There was just so much going on. It was it was definitely excellent.

Dr. Steve Greene: Those two are too creative for their own good. They just keep doing great things.

Kim Jones-Pothier: I love them. And they’re down to earth. You know what I love about them is that they really love people. I love people that really love people. I’m not saying that all pastors don't, but there's a difference. When you start getting to a place like they are … they have all the reason in the world they could have attitudes. They have a green room … if anybody like an earned a right, which nobody should have that, but they have that right. And man, they just are the nicest people. They go out and touch their sheep. I just love that. I love people that love people.

Dr. Steve Greene: We connected their website to our group before. Do you happen to remember it? They both preach online. Their sermons are good. But they can also listen to you if they pull down that website. We will include their website within our show notes so people can find you and listen to you preach. So tell us, just give us a brief … what did you preach yesterday?

Kim Jones-Pothier: Yesterday, I preached being unapologetically you. We're walking into a season where you have to stop trying to fit into boxes. That's why the world is walking around miserable. You're having to drink before you go to bed. Your marriages are going to hell in a handbasket. People are just angry, holding on to junk from their past. So, I just walked them through how to let go, like, just get up. You have gone to that therapist for 20 years over something that happened to you at four. Just get up. It’s time to let go of that ex, let go of that person that cheated on you. Your husband went through midlife crisis and just woke up one day after 28 years and told you he doesn’t love you anymore. You got to get up. Get up and live. As long as you have a pulse, God's got a plan and He's waiting on you. You're waiting on God to be a genie in a bottle. In fact, you’re mad at God because He didn't answer that prayer. You have to understand that when one door closes, God said I'm going to open something bigger

·         Ephesians 3:20: Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or imagine, according to the power that works in us” (MEV).

He says in Ephesians 3:20 He's going to do exceedingly abundantly more than you could ever ask or think. That means you can't even pray for what God's about to do. If you're not walking in the exceedingly abundantly in your life, you need to start taking some inventory of your life. What's going on? What am I holding on to? Where am I stuck? I will go and preach. I preach every weekend. Sometimes I'm on 20 planes a week. I'm gone. I'm booked solid. I love getting to do this because I will walk into a congregation or walk into an event and literally the first thing I'll say is how many people in this room feel stuck. Eight-five to 95 percent of the entire place.

Dr. Steve Greene: That’s an altar call. If you’re stuck, then come on down.

Kim Jones-Pothier: That’s right. I make them lay hands on themselves. I'm like, come on, you're about to get out of your comfort zone. You knew when you came to see Real Talk Kim that I was about to get you straight out of that comfort zone. I need you to do something you ain't never done. I need you to yell. I need you to shout. I need you to praise your way out. I’m about ready to scare you. I'm sick and tired of being here and I'm ready to get free. I get to watch people get free. I get testimonies like crazy from people just saying I'm telling you, man, after all these years, I finally feel like I can move forward.

Dr. Steve Greene: No one ever forgets you. If they've heard you speak, they never forget you or your message. That's what the Lord wants from us. I don't want to preach a sermon they heard or something like that three weeks ago and they can't remember who it was. That doesn't do us any good. You're a change agent.

Kim Jones-Pothier: Thank you. I've wrestled with that. I've gone through seasons when God called me into ministry. I’ve been special ed my whole life. But what's funny is that I'm writing books for Charisma. God is putting me in Barnes and Noble. But I really wrestled with when God first called me into ministry. And I'll be honest with you. I still, every once in a while, have to look at myself in the mirror and say you are not anybody else. You do not have to give 12 scriptures and talk about Elijah and Eve and Abraham. Other preachers are doing all that. You stay in your lane because nobody's doing what I'm doing. I'm preaching at these conferences with the best preachers. They have been preaching for 20 and 30 years and I've only been preaching for five. It’s just that I have to keep talking to myself, telling myself stay in your lane. They know who you are when they bring you in here. I want to be up there preaching about the ram in the bush because that's what I think they're expecting and God's like, no, you have a deliverance ministry. You stay in your lane, keep doing what you're doing and that's what I'm doing. I'm just staying me because my lane is less crowded.

Dr. Steve Greene: You know, that verse you just started with, Ephesians 3:20. You speak of all that you can ask or imagine, but you know, that verse doesn't stay in there and I know you preach this. It is according to the power that works within you. There's something going on here that people don't hear the rest of that verse, all that you can ask them. We sit in a chair and we ask and imagine, and we don't use the power that's within us. Preach that, come on.

Kim Jones-Pothier: That’s why the enemy gets us and puts us on mute. The Bible says you have to open your mouth … your mouth, not my mouth, not your bishop’s mouth, not Dr. Greene’s mouth, not your therapist’s mouth, out of your mouth. That's where the power comes. And a lot of our lives looks the way it looks because of the power that's coming out of our mouth: negativity, complaining and grumbling. Woe is me. Let me be a victim of my own story for the rest of my life. Let this season in my life define my whole lifetime and we're talking about it instead of prophesying to it. I'm not staying here. You can do that place. You say I’m staying here. But I'm putting the power that inside of me. I'm going to push this perfect out of me. I'm about to bring this dream back. It doesn't matter how old you are. It doesn't matter what you've gone through. It doesn't matter if you drove off your husband with your mouth like I do. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. God says, I need you to take the storms that you created and let the oil that I'm going to produce through you because you got up when you wanted to stay down. That's where the power is.

Dr. Steve Greene: You just got practical, but give us some real practicality for the ladies that are listening now. How do I acquire the power that's in me? How do I access it? How do I put it into gear? How did you shift because you had some rough days at the makeup counter? You did a lot of days where you weren't all that happy?
