Introduction

Stephen Strang: This is Stephen Strang. I want to introduce my listeners to Charisma magazine if you don't already get it. If you do get it, you could respond to this special offer, and we will continue your subscription into the future. The offer is to give you both of my books on Donald Trump, God and Donald Trump and the new one, Trump Aftershock. These are a value of just less than $50 plus two years of Charisma, which costs around $40. And you can get the whole thing for only $39. Now, let me repeat. You get both of my best-selling books, and two years of charisma for only $39. And all you have to do is go to this site, trumpbooks.charismamag.com. I'll repeat it. But the good thing about a podcast is you can back it up and listen to it again. It’s trumpbooks.charismamag.com. I hope you'll take advantage of this offer. Even if you have read the books, you know it's always nice to have a new book, especially one signed by the author. It makes a good birthday present, later in the year it will make a good Christmas present. I hope that you'll take advantage of it because it's a good offer. It’s my way to try to connect you with Charisma and also get more copies of my book out there.

Stephen Strang: Depression is a real problem in our culture. In fact, suicides are reported to be up and most of them are associated somehow with depression. And of course, many others struggle with depression. Some get help, some never get help. Today we're going to talk to someone who knows about depression and has a real heart for ministry. Hello, everyone, this is Stephen Strang and welcome to the String Report. My guest today is a very good friend of mine. His name is Ben Ferrell. He's from Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is in the media business mainly in television. He's been very, very successful. He's a strong Christian and he has a real heart to help those dealing with depression. He's also a gifted songwriter and musician. He's ministered in music for many years. He created a wonderful video in which he ministers to people who are dealing with depression. It is so wonderful. In fact, I said, hey, Ben, can I use this for a podcast. I said I'll introduce it and then we'll play the audio. Actually, it's on Vimeo. We'll put it as a link to my newsletter, which we always do. So, you can both watch it and listen. But here is something special. Ben shares some beautiful, relaxing, soothing, peaceful music. I just listened to it myself again for, I think the third time, just a few minutes ago. And while I'm not dealing with depression, thank God, it just soothed my soul as I hope it soothes your soul. I'm pretty sure I have never before had music on my podcast. So, this is a first. But I hope this music ministers to you. You may want to share it with others. You may want to stop it and listen to it again. Also, you'll want to connect with Ben Ferrell and his ministry, which I will share at the end of the podcast. Listen now, as Ben feral ministers.

Ben Ferrell: Hi, this is Ben Ferrell. I'm a singer and a songwriter, and I'm coming to you to bring you a gift. I'm coming to you if you have been plagued with depression in your life. Maybe you're experiencing a panic attack right now. Maybe you are anxiety ridden. Maybe you're going through a time that you just don't even feel like you can live or want to live. I want you to know that I understand. I've been there myself. I want you to know that there's hope. If you'll just listen to me for a few minutes and if you'll just let me share with you, I'm going to sing some songs. I'm just going to talk to you because I care about you. My heart breaks. When I see someone going through depression, or anxiety attacks, panic attacks. It's a plague in our society today. I'm coming to produce a gift that can help you. I just want you to know that you're not alone. You're going to get through this. You can overcome this. And this does not have to control your life. This does not have to define who you are. You are a beautiful child of God. When you're in a state of depression, it feels like there's no hope. You feel like, you don’t even know what's going to happen to me. It's such a state of hopelessness. It's such a state of profound insecurity. You're wondering, oh my gosh, what's going to happen to me You just want to take the sheets over your head and just find a hole somewhere and crawl in it. But I'm coming to you to say God's got you. God’s got you. No matter how much it hurts, no matter how much you're afraid, I've got news for you … that His presence is with you and will get you through this. This can change. This too can pass. Let's just keep looking to Jesus

Song

You’re my sunshine.

Storm clouds roll.

You’re the silver lining.

You ease my soul.

You're the laughter in the morning when I've cried the whole night through.

What you do for me Jesus, no one else can do.

Oh, it's true.

You're the rainbow, the cleansing rain.

You’re the water in the desert, never thirst again.

You're the secret hope at midnight when my dreams just won't come true.

What you do for me Jesus, no one else can do.

Oh, it's true.

I tried it all and I can say nothing can compare.

I don't know where you lead me Lord. I know I want to be there.

You're the answer my heart longs for.

You been there when I was flying high. You’re there when I fall.

You’re the only one I can live for. You’re the one I’ll be going to.

What you do for me Jesus, no one else can do.

Ben Ferrell: I feel the joy coming. The Bible says that tears … weeping goes through the night time. But joy comes in the morning. I'm sensing Him just as I'm singing that hope is coming and that joy is coming. I'm sensing that He's here. Our greatest hope that we have is His presence. It's God who is a three-fold being. He’s our father. We've talked about how much your father loves you like a daddy. We've talked about Jesus who is the one that God sent to save you and to anoint with the oil of gladness. And the Holy Spirit is who Jesus sent after he went back. So, we have the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to hold on to. I don't care when the storms are raging. I don't care if you feel like the whole world's caving in. I'm telling you, the mighty Trinity, God Almighty, has got you and He's right here.

And now the Prince of Peace is coming to you. The Prince of Peace is Jesus. I speak to you in the name of Jesus and I'm saying hope rise. Faith rise. Let love cover you. Father, let your arms surround this person that is struggling, that is suffering, that is experiencing the pain of depression and even considering suicide. I'm saying peace to you. I'm saying it's gonna be OK. There is hope and there's joy in the morning. God bless you and thank you for just letting me sing songs that I hope have brought freedom and peace. God bless you.

Stephen Strang: Wasn't that beautiful? Didn't that bring peace to your soul? The nice thing about a podcast is you can stop it and rewind. But I know that you'll want to find out more. You can go to benferrellmusic.com and get other resources from Ben; they're all free. You can see this in video form on your computer or smartphone.
