In this episode, we're going to talk about the baptism in the Holy Spirit. The baptism in the Holy Spirit, as we're going to see in the scriptures, is a separate experience from the new birth. In this episode, I'm going to go ahead and I'm going to teach you line upon line. I'm going to give you many, many scriptures. But before we get into the baptism of the Holy Spirit and how it's found in the scriptures and the word of God, I want to share my heart with you and my testimony.

0:56 As a little girl, I was raised in a Christian home, a Catholic home. And I always loved God. I always hungered and thirsted after God. When I was a little girl, I used to... sit in the backyard on a tree stump. And I can remember looking up into the sky and I always wanted to see God's face. There was always a heart in me to know God, a heart to see God, a heart that just wanted to pray. I can remember times I would go into the bushes and hide in the bushes and I was in a closed in space and I would just spend time with God, just talking to him and praying.

1:40 to him and just wanted to be alone with him. But as time went on and I went into my teenage years, what happened to me was I started to dabble in a little bit of sin here and a little bit of sin there. And I kind of got away from my focus, which was Jesus. And the scripture does talk about when I become mature, sin revives and I died. And I felt in my teenage years that there came a time where I felt like a separation from God. But by about 17, 18 years old, I started to go back to that original hunger and thirst after God. Now, I didn't realize it. But my mother and a pastor, they started to really pray for me. And as they were praying for me, it opened up the door for God to work. And it released the ministry, John 16, of the Holy Spirit. So the Holy Spirit began to convict me and convince me of my need for Jesus. And I can remember listening to secular music and having the conviction of the Holy Spirit. So therefore, I started to be drawn. back to him by the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit and that went on for about a year and one night I was in my bedroom and I was praying and I said to God I said what must I do to be saved I really want to be saved I didn't even know that saved was a real word I

3:13 just knew that there was something about being saved it was in the Bible but I didn't really understand the full concept And so one night I'm in my bedroom. What must I do to be saved? What must I do to be saved? I really want to be saved. And I was waiting for some feeling. I was just waiting for something to shake. I was waiting for just something. And one night, something big, major. Did happen again. I was praying in my room. What must I do to be saved? What must I do to be saved? And this one particular night I was in that posture of prayer. And I, for the first time in my life, heard what I would call the audible voice of God. And I heard audibly on the inside a man's voice. And he said to me, only believe. And with that being said, by the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit, I said, I believe. And suddenly I felt like. There was darkness that came off of me. Something was lifted off of me. A heaviness was lifted off of me. And I felt the love of God. Now I know it's Romans 5, 5 was poured into me, was shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Ghost. And something had changed. Something changed in me. And the Bible says that when a person is in Christ, he

4:44 is a new creation. All things pass away. all things become new. And I felt that change. I felt that change on the inside of me. I went to bed that night just with the knowledge of feeling and knowing and having the love of God so real to me. The next morning I woke up. I went to share what had happened to me to my mother and to some friends of hers. And they said, you must have gotten born again. And that's exactly what happened. I was a new creation in Christ. I was born again. And so I maintained that excitement and I maintained that awareness of Jesus for two weeks. And I felt like in my heart that there was still something missing. I don't know if you can relate to that or not, but I felt like I'm born again. I'm a child of God. I've been saved. The love of God is shed abroad in my heart by the Holy Spirit. But there's still something more. And so that began my search. My friend and I, we ended up in a church. that I believe was led by God for us to be there. And we went to this church and when we are in the church service, the worship was going on and we heard a lot of people not only worshiping God and Jesus in English or in our known language or in songs

6:14 that we knew and understood, but they were also singing in some kind of heavenly language. And it was a language I had never heard before. It was a sound I had never heard before. And at the conclusion of the service, I said to the leadership, I want that. And so therefore. They prayed with me and my girlfriend. And what we found out what that was is a separate experience from the new birth. It was the baptism in the Holy Ghost. And I said, I want that. And so they laid hands on us. They prayed over us. And when they did, I felt another presence or power of the Holy Spirit coming upon me. And at the same time, I felt something on the inside. rising up within me. And I wanted to say something to God I had never expressed before, but it wasn't in English, which is my known language, my known tongue. It was another kind of expression. And so therefore, my girlfriend who was with me at the time, she started singing in this heavenly language, but I didn't. I didn't know what it was. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know what to do. And when I got alone and I got in my car, I released my prayer language, the same kind of language and sound that I heard them releasing during the worship service. So I began to what the Bible calls speak with other tongues.

7:49 as the Spirit gave me utterance. And that's when I realized that's what I was hungering for. That is what I was thirsting for. Yes, I was born again. Yes, I was a child of God. But there was more for God to do in my life. And that is what we're going to talk about in this episode, the baptism in the Holy Spirit. And I'm going to teach you how to receive for yourself. But first, let's just take a break. Early in 2025, I had a dream that I'd like to share with you. A dream that was a guest speaker in a church. During the preaching, I had a vision of a great ship.

8:30 I saw the ship going straight and it was moving fast and furious ahead on the water. Then I saw the ship suddenly turning to the right. I said to the people, the ship is turning, but we must continue to pray into it. It's not in time to stop praying. I could see that the ship was turning and the church was at the helm of the ship. causing the ship to turn. Upon awakening, God gave me an assignment and the assignment was and still is to mobilize prayer. We are praying together on our KIU prayer conference call. I would love it if you could join us. 9:23 Okay, let's continue our teaching. So like the new birth, There is another experience called the baptism in the Holy Spirit. Now, what I want to get into in this segment is how, first of all, the Holy Spirit is promised. Joel chapter two, verse 28 through 29 says, it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Your old men shall dream dreams. Your young men shall see visions. And also on my men servants and my maid servants, I will pour out of my spirit in those days. So under the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit and the outpour of the Holy Spirit is promised. Now, under the Old Testament or the Old Covenant, some people say the Holy Spirit was upon the prophets, the priests, And the kings, but he was not upon everyone.

10:26 Okay. And now under the new Testament, after the new birth, the Holy spirit is within us in the new birth. And he can come upon us here. We see in the ministry of Jesus. begins talking a lot about the Holy Spirit. Jesus promised himself also the coming of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the necessity of this experience. In Luke 24, verse 49, Jesus said, behold, I send the promise of my father upon you. But tarry ye here in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high. Then he says in Luke 11, 9 through 13. Remember I said I'm going to give you a lot of scripture in this segment.

11:19 And if you know anybody that's born again but not yet filled with the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues, I would encourage you to share this episode with them because it's very thorough. Luke 11, 9 through 13 says, Jesus said, so I say to you, ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be open to you. Then he says, for everyone who asks, receives. He who seeks, finds. And to those who knock, it will be open. Now, if a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? In other words, he's saying, listen, you ask for the Holy Spirit.

12:04 You're going to get the Holy Spirit. You're not going to get another spirit. You're not going to get the wrong spirit. You're not going to get some demon spirit. No, if you ask for the Holy Spirit and you hunger and thirst for the Holy Spirit, that's exactly what he is going to give you. Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg? Will he offer him a scorpion? So Jesus said, if you then being evil or natural know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to them who ask him? So he says, everyone who asks receives. John 7, 37 through 39. And this is what happened to me the first time I released my prayer language. Jesus said, on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, if anyone thirst, let him come to me and drink. And he who believes in me, as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

13:14 But this he spoke concerning the spirit whom those believing in him. Notice it was for those who believe in him. would receive for the Holy Spirit at that time was not yet given because Jesus was not yet glorified. Acts 1, 4 through 8 says, and being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the spirit. And he said that. You know, the disciples asked a bunch of questions and Jesus answered the questions and he went back to the subject matter. He said, listen, you're going to receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you're going to be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria and the uttermost parts of the earth.

14:08 So he's promising that the Holy Spirit is coming and he's saying you're going to receive power. When this Holy Spirit has come upon you. Now that word power, and this is what you will receive when you receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This word power is the Greek word dunamis. And it is the word miracle working power. Power capable of reproducing itself. So when I got baptized in the Holy Spirit, what happened to me was I felt a power I never had before. I felt a presence I never felt before. When I would read the word of God, read the scripture, the eyes of my heart were open and enlightened. Things in the scripture I didn't understand before was suddenly revealed to me through revelation. And so this Holy Spirit really helps us. With our understanding of the scriptures, we're going to find as we go forward, it helps us in our prayer life. It helps us stand against sin. It helps us to live victorious Christian lives. I have a question for you. Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed Jesus said himself that when you receive this power, you are going to receive this dunamis, which will help. you in your everyday christian life okay

15:38 now the holy spirit when jesus went up into the heavens the bible says that the holy spirit was finally poured out at the day of pentecost Acts chapter two, verse one through four says, when the day of Pentecost had fully come, remember they were waiting in the upper room. They were waiting for the promise that Jesus said was coming. They were waiting for the promise of the Holy Spirit. When the day of Pentecost had fully come, they're all in one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind. And it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And the Bible says there appeared unto them divided tongues as a fire. And it sat upon each one of them. And the Bible says, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. And they began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. So just like me. The initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit happened in the early church. The scripture says they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues. We're going to take a short break here and we'll see you in a few minutes. The Lord spoke to me one day. He said, Margie, many of my people desire to be intimate with me. They desire to spend time with me. They

17:09 desire to have a vibrant prayer life, but they just don't know where to begin. They just don't know how to start. So I wrote this book with that in mind. Encountering God Through Prayer, Simple Strategies to Develop a Powerful Prayer Life. the reader from the very basics. Begin where you are. Begin with 15 minutes. Find a quiet place in your house. Go into a closet if you have to. Shut the door. Just begin where you are. And I teach the reader about the heart of the Father. Because if you don't know who God is, you're not going to understand his character and his nature and you'll be afraid of him. So I go into the heart of the father. Who is the father? What's his character? What's his nature?

18:04 And then I take the reader all the way. up into what I call contemplative prayer. So we found out that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is poured out At the birth of the church age and the initial sign of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit is what Jesus said. He said, out of your innermost being will flow rivers of living water. This release of tongues was the outward manifestation of the rivers of living water coming up out of the believers and through the expression of tongues, that river is manifested. Now, the Bible says in Mark 16, these signs will follow them that believe. We know that one of those signs is that they'll cast out demons. We know that another sign is that they're going to take up serpents.

19:19 And if they eat any deadly thing, it shall not harm them. We know that they will lay hands on the sick and that the sick will recover. But what about the sign that is to follow the believer? And that is Jesus said it. They will speak with new tongues. So I'm sure that the disciples did not know what that meant. But I can guarantee you they understood it at the birth of the church age when they released their prayer language. OK, now you may say, well. This prayer language isn't for me because it's not my gift. And what I find a lot of believers do is they mix up the nine gifts of the Spirit spoken of in Corinthians.

20:02 The nine gifts, which is the manifestations of the gifts of the spirit given to the church. They mix up the gifts of the spirit for the tongues that every believer can receive and can manifest in their own life. A lot of believers think, you know what? It's not my gift. The Bible says they will speak with tongues and they will interpret. Well, that's for public assembly. But the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking with other tongues. is for every believer because Jesus said it was for you and it's for you today. Okay, well, you may say, well, I asked for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and I didn't release my prayer language. Well, I have a lot of that come to me as well. People coming to me saying that that happened to them. And you know what I tell them? I say it's because you have to do the speaking. The Holy Spirit is a perfect gentleman.

20:58 He's not going to come upon you and make you say or do something you don't want to say or do. Remember, the Bible says they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and they began to speak with other tongues. Let me ask you a question. Who did the speaking? They did the speaking. The person did the speaking. So God uses your voice, your vocal cords. The utterance is there. It's rising up. you may feel something you may not but the utterance is there what you have to do is you have to give voice to it by an act of your will you form the words in a sense you make up the language what you're doing is you're yielding over to the holy spirit and you're allowing him to flow through you but it's you and the holy spirit you form the words you release the prayer language and we're going to do that at the end of this session so how do we receive the Holy Spirit again I'm going to give you a lot of scriptures before we pray Acts chapter 8 verse 14 through 19 says now when the apostles were at Jerusalem and heard that Samaria had received the word of God I want you to notice they had received the word of God they said to them they were sent and when they had come down prayed for them that they might received the holy spirit notice they received the word of god but peter and john were sent that they might

22:31 receive the holy spirit isn't this exciting for as yet he had fallen upon none of them they had only been baptized in the name of the lord jesus so they were saved they were believers and this is how they received and this is how i received and when they had laid hands on them and They received the Holy Spirit. And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles hands, the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money saying, give me this power that anyone who might lay hands on might receive the Holy Spirit. Now, why did you read that latter verse? I read it because the Bible doesn't say that they released their prayer language and they spoke in tongues.

23:16 But the Bible does say that Simon saw something. Maybe he even heard something. He saw the power of God come upon them, and I believe that he saw them speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Here's another verse. Acts 9 .17 says, And when Ananias went his way and entered the house, and laying his hands on him, he said, Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus has appeared to you on the road as you came and has sent me. that you might receive your sight and also be filled with the Holy Spirit. It was very important that Saul be filled with the Holy Spirit because it was the Holy Spirit, the power of the Holy Spirit that was going to give him power to be a witness, power to be bold, power to stand in the challenging times that he was standing in.

24:13 Okay. Acts 10, 44. says, while Peter was speaking these words, he was preaching. In other words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word and those of the circumcision who believed were astonished for as many as came with Peter because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. And it says, for they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Lastly. Acts 19, I'm going to read it out of the Amplified. When Apollos was at Corinth, Paul went through the upper island districts and came down to Ephesus. And there he found, here we go, some disciples. In other words, they were believers. And he asked them the same question I'm asking you. Did you receive the Holy Spirit since you believed? And they said, no, we've not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And they asked him. Into what baptism then were you baptized? And they said into John's baptism. And Paul said, John baptized with the baptism of repentance. Okay. Telling people that they should believe in the one who was to come after him. That is in Jesus. On hearing this, they were baptized. Again, this time in the name of the Lord Jesus. And as Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them and they

25:46 spoke in foreign tongues or languages and they prophesied. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, I'm just going to add this, will open up the door for the gifts of the Spirit to be released in your life. But here we find that Paul laid his hands on them. Now, what I would like to do is I would like to pray for you to be filled with the Holy Spirit, because I know in my heart that God wanted me to share on this particular episode on the baptism of the Holy Spirit, because he knows that there's many of you that are listening that are believers, but you have not yet been filled with the Holy Spirit. Now, I'm not there to lay hands on you. I'm not there to physically touch you. But the Bible says, though I'm absent in the flesh. I am present with you in the spirit.

26:34 First, I want to make sure that you're born again, okay? So I'm going to ask you to repeat this prayer after me. Say this after me. Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus, your son who gave himself for me. Jesus, I am asking you to come into my heart. I accept you as the Lord of my life and your blood cleanses me from all unrighteousness. And now Jesus, I'm asking you today to baptize me in the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, come upon me. Rise up inside me and I will. will begin to speak with other tongues as you give me utterance. Okay. There's the Holy Spirit. There you go. Now go ahead and yield to him. Go ahead, just release your language.
