Unlocking the Power of the Holy Spirit | The Purpose and Power of Praying in Tongues (Part 2)

0:00 You pray it and he can answer it. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. God will put the prayer in your heart to pray so that he can answer it. Goes into the hearts of the people, doesn't return void, it produces results. Why do you say that? Because that's the Bible. Remember 1 Thessalonians 5.23 says, God said you are a spirit. You have a soul and you live in a body. So when you're praying in tongues, it's your spirit by the Holy Spirit speaking to God in a language he understands.

0:51 1 Corinthians 14, 14 and 15 says, if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, your spirit, my spirit prays. But the scripture says, but my understanding is unfruitful. What I love about the Holy Ghost is when I've spent time praying in the Holy Ghost, eventually he causes my thoughts to become agreeable with his thoughts and then the plans succeed. Because when you're praying in the Holy Ghost, you're praying out of your spirit, the wisdom of God. You're not praying out of your mind and your understanding.

1:31 So sometimes it takes a little time, listen, to get what's here over here. So when the Lord said to me, your purpose has not changed, that was the wisdom of God that he spoke to me and it caused me to stabilize and say, all right, I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing. Leading corporate prayer, teaching about prayer and obeying God. And you know, I have a much greater sense of fulfillment now. I just needed him to say, this is what I want you to do. Because I hadn't heard him say that. How many of you know what I'm talking about? So he says, what is the conclusion then? I will, notice he said I will.

2:13 If you've never prayed in tongues, this is a perfect scripture for you, I will. The Holy Ghost isn't gonna come on you and make you say or do something you don't wanna say or do. Because he's a perfect gentleman. So under the new birth, you have the Holy Spirit on the inside, you're born again. Like they said in Acts, have you received the Holy Ghost since you believe? And the response was, we have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. In other words, they were believers. And the Bible says, the apostles laid hands on them and they began to speak. But one thing, when I minister the baptism of the Holy Spirit, people think that the Holy Spirit's gonna come on them and make them say or do something that they don't wanna say or do.

3:03 But I want you to notice the scripture says, I will pray with the Spirit. I will. So when the Holy Ghost rises up and comes upon you, you have to yield to him and by an act of your will, you are the one that makes up the language. You are the one that forms the words. Well, then it's just me. No, it's not just you. It's you by the Holy Ghost within you rising up, John 7.38. And he wants to express himself through you, the house of prayer, and he wants you to yield over unto him. The beauty of it is, he is your father.

3:46 And when you're praying in tongues, you're crying Abba, father. And it's this connection with him that goes deeper than what we can have on a surface level. Praying in the Holy Ghost brings you in a sense to another dimension in your walk with God. Yes, I said it. Is that okay that I said that? I mean, it's true, we're saved. But aren't you hungry for more? I know for me, like I got born again, and I was raised Catholic, loved being a Catholic, loved God my whole life, had an altar, had it all going on, loved Catholic church, and would love going to church every day.

4:32 Every day. Then one day somebody told me Jesus isn't on the cross. You gotta accept him into your heart. One night I got radically born again. I heard the audible voice of God, because he was probably so fed up with me going, what must I do to be saved? What must I do? Something instinctively told me that you're missing something. You have to be saved. You must be born again. If you're not born again, you cannot enter and see the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is the bridge that gets you to the father. So I had a form of godliness, I had a form of religion, but I didn't know that Jesus was the way, the truth, and the life, and that no man can get to him except through the son.

5:26 I loved him, I mentally ascended to him, that he died for me on the cross, but nobody ever told me I had to receive him into my heart and make him a part of my life and make him Lord. So one day I heard the audible voice of God, I kept saying, what must I do to be saved? And finally one night, and I wasn't expecting this. I honestly, I don't get a lot of this stuff that happens to me even now. We talked about it yesterday, didn't we ladies? But I heard on the inside, only believe. And it was right here, everybody say right here.

6:09 And I went, a light went off. Everyone say a light went off. That's why the Bible says Satan, who is the god of this world, he's blinded the minds of those who don't believe. And it was like something lifted off my mind, a light bulb went off, and I realized by revelation that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life, and I just said, I believe. And I literally was taken out of the kingdom of darkness. And I telling you, and it was a feeling, I went into the kingdom of light, and I returned to my father God that I knew as a little girl.

6:53 I was born again. Nobody told me, nobody led me in a prayer, I was born again. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, that which is born of the spirit is spirit. It was my spirit that became alive under God. The Bible says if any person is in Christ, he is a new creation. All things pass away, everything became new. I was suddenly a new creature. I was still Margie. I was still the same person on the outside. I didn't know it then, I know now. I had to renew my mind. You know, you have to wear certain clothes.

7:35 You can't be walking around in certain clothes like you were before you were saved. Thank God nobody, you know, you got the mothers in the church, but people kind of left me alone. And I realized just through the voice of my conscience, you know, you gotta change some habits. You gotta change some things. And it was Christ in me, the hope of glory that was changing me from the inside out. So for about two weeks, I just still felt like something was missing. Something on the inside. I was born again, I was a child of God, and I was led by the Holy Ghost.

8:17 Everybody say that we can be led by the Holy Ghost? Because you know, he said, I'm gonna lead you and guide you into all truth. If you don't speak in tongues, the Holy Spirit is still active in your life. And his ministry is still active in your life. He led me to this church. Now the church wasn't perfect. Yeah, back in the day, you remember the shepherding movement? The shepherding movement? So I didn't know it was a shepherding movement. You know, it was this whole thing. I don't, we won't get into it. I don't think they exist anymore. Today it's cultish, actually. But they were Christian, but the Holy Ghost, you know, sometimes God will use whatever he can to get us into the place he wants us to be.

9:02 And so I went to this church with a friend of mine, and they were all speaking and singing in tongues. ["Yambre Shombre"] Let's do it. ["Yambre Shombre"] ["Yambre Shombre"] And they were all singing in tongues like that. None sit there, a good Catholic, born again Catholic girl. And I'm like, I want that. So at the end of the, because I sensed and I knew that this was right, right?

9:42 I sensed and I knew this was the Spirit of God. Because he said, I'll guide you into all truth. And so at the end of the service, I went up to the leadership, me and my friend, and our short shorts, oh my gosh. And, you know what I mean? And I said to the leadership, I said, we want this. And the one person said, we had a feeling you would. Now they didn't give me any instruction. You know my message isn't going as planned, you know that, right?

10:22 They didn't give me any instruction. They laid hands on me and my friend, and they said, receive the Holy Ghost. They didn't say, the Holy Spirit's gonna come upon you, he's gonna power the most high, he's gonna overshadow you, he's gonna rise up within you according to John 738, you're gonna wanna say something you've never said before. It's a language from heaven. It's a heavenly language. You have to form the words, he uses your mouth, I will pray, he didn't give me any instruction. Actually, didn't even lead me in the prayer of salvation, which I'm not into that at all. If people come up to be filled with the Holy Ghost, I always lead them into the prayer of salvation, because there's a scripture in the Bible, if you ask for the Holy Ghost, I'm gonna give you the Holy Ghost.

11:06 I'm not gonna give you a stone or a serpent. But you go to other nations of the world, there's all other kinds of things going on that you don't see here in this nation. But I make sure everybody's born again. So we're all on the same page, confessing Jesus is Lord, believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead and I am saved, yes. And then I lead him into the baptism, because it's a separate experience from the new birth. So they led me in the prayer. My girlfriend, she started, she was like, I'm seeking to get my mass here. She very gently started speaking in tongues. And I'm sitting there going, I could feel God.

11:49 And right here, where does God live? Right here, right? Something big, really big was rising up. And it was like a bubble. Well, isn't that Bible? Out of your innermost being will flow rivers of living, water, and Jesus goes on to say and says, this spake he of the Holy Spirit who was promised, but it was not yet given. But we know it was given in Acts 2, 4, 2, 1 through 4, correct? Rising up within me, rising up. And I wanted to say something that was not from this earth, not from this world.

12:31 And I was trying to think and formulate in my mind what the bigness of what I wanted to say was. And so my intellect, Italian girl intellect, came up with the most, the biggest word in English that could describe what I wanted to say to God as a result of what I perceived him to be and how big I perceived him to be and the love that I felt. And finally, I came up with a really big word from my intellect, from my mind. And I said, oh God, you are so outrageous.

13:22 So I didn't release my language that day. My girlfriend, my friend did. So I said to myself, I know that if I ask, if anyone asks, everyone that asks receives. He that seeks finds. You knock at the door, it'll be opened. Everyone who asks receives. My part was I had to release my prayer language by understanding I'm not praying out of my head. I'm praying out of my heart and I'm the temple of the Holy Spirit and he uses my mouth, my vocal cords and I do the speaking.

14:10 So I got in the car, I got by myself and when I was by myself, I just said, ma-she-ke-te-a-li-a-va-ze. I just released my prayer language. It was already given. He, I had already asked. I needed to release it. And that was the beginning of an amazing journey of prayer because when I don't know how to pray about something, I pray in the Holy Ghost. When I don't understand everything that's going on, I pray in the Holy Ghost. Do you know that the Bible says, obviously we're not doing the notes, the Bible says that the Spirit of God helps us.

14:59 He didn't leave us powerless. We're not doing this ministry on our own. We're not living life on our own. He said likewise, the Spirit helps our infirmities. That word infirmity means our inability to produce results. When we don't know what to pray as we ought, the Spirit himself makes intercession according to, it says the will of God, but it actually says according to God. So when we don't know how to pray about something, we're praying according to God.

15:40 He puts the prayer in our heart, we pray it out, and things happen as a result. And it goes on to say, and then all things work together for them that are called of God according to his purpose. So if we pray in tongues, and it says we're praying according to the will of God, what does the Bible say, I don't know the exact reference, I think it's 1 John 5, if we ask anything, according to God, what does the Bible say? If we ask anything, according to what? His will, what do we know? We know he hears us.

16:23 And if we know he hears us, we know we have the petitions that we desire of him. Interesting the way this went this morning. I just heard in my spirit, have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? I think there's people in here this morning. If you watch the Holy Spirit and you watch the anointing, and this is a Holy Ghost church, by far, you could see how he weaved in and out certain things, and you could see how he's reaching certain people. How many of you noticed that? My question is, have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? Or have you ever received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior?

17:08 I'm hearing in my spirit, I have come that, yes, thank you, that you may have life and life more abundantly. But if I give my life to Jesus, is he gonna make me say, is he gonna make me do something I don't wanna do? No, he'll make you a better person. He'll make you wiser. He'll make you stronger. He'll help you in your life. He said in his word, beloved, above all, I wish that you prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers.

17:48 He's not gonna take away anything from you. He's gonna give to you super abundantly, above all you could ask, all dream or desire. When you have Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, it is the most incredible journey you could ever be on on this earth. Because one day we're all gonna stand before God. One day, just like Patty, Patty, she's still alive. And her works and all the love and all the teaching has followed her. And she stood before God. He said, well done, thou good and faithful servant.

18:29 See what I'm saying? So her spirit left, but she left a legacy on this earth, but she's still alive. When you have Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you're alive unto God. And when you leave this earth, your spirit leaves your body and you go up into heaven and you stand before him with clean hands and a pure heart. Have you received Jesus and have you received the Holy Ghost since you've believed? Why don't we stand? You know, now I know Pastor knows this. A man plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps. Amen.

19:11 I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Bible says, stay with me, don't anybody leave please, it is the power of God unto salvation. Can I have some music please? I'm gonna ask that every head bow, every eye would be closed. Thank you Lord. Thank you Lord. Wow Holy Ghost. All I have to say is wow, wow, wow. You are so personal, so intimate, so intricate, so caring, so loving. I thank you Holy Ghost for every person under the sound of my voice that's here. I thank you for the unction of the Holy Ghost.

19:53 I thank you for the Holy Ghost that convicts and convinces anyone in here of their need for Jesus. And so Father I pray that by the Spirit of the living God that they would respond. We thank you Lord. We thank you Lord. We praise you. We praise you. I'm gonna ask every head bow, every eye closed. Thank you Lord. Before we, I'm gonna minister the baptism of the Holy Spirit to anybody who wants to receive today. But before we do that, I just wanna ask if you have never been born again and you would like to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, I'm gonna ask that you very quickly raise your hand.

20:49 Or if you're uncertain, just very quickly raise your hand. Nobody's looking. I know there's somebody here. Because God interrupted this whole service just for you. I don't think I've preached the gospel of salvation in years, months, this way. I'm gonna wait. Yep, yep. He said there's definitely someone here who's never received him, right?

21:30 What I don't wanna do in front of all these people. All I'm asking, listen, Jesus said if you acknowledge me before men, you'll be acknowledged before my Father which is in heaven. You'd like to receive Jesus and you're not quite sure you're saved, really quickly, right where you are. I'm not gonna ask you to come up, just raise your hand. Really quick. Wow. I remember one time I was speaking at a women's conference. You remember Mary Ellen? I had a word with her. I said, I'm gonna ask you to come up. I'm gonna ask you to come up. I said, Mary Ellen, remember that?

22:11 I said, there's somebody that you're associated with that it was such an urgency for her to make sure this person was born again. Remember that? And we talked later and she said, yeah, it's whoever. That was, didn't he die or something? I said, I don't know. I don't know. That was, didn't he die or something? He's still living but he's older. But see, God said, I stand at the door of your heart and I'm knocking. I'm pulling. Just let me come in and have fellowship with you.

22:55 Today could be the first day of the rest of your life. Okay, let's close your eyes. Close your eyes once again, I'm asking everyone. If you're sitting, standing at your seat and you wanna raise your hand, you can raise your hand. Okay, this is what we're gonna do. We're gonna pray a prayer corporately for salvation and then we'll have a altar call for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. You have a precious pastor, don't you? Let's all say this together. This is the prayer for you to accept Jesus and to become born again. Jesus said, in order to get to heaven, you must be born again.

23:41 Very compelling message today for someone. Let's all say this together. This is the grace of God. Let's all say this together. Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father. Hi, thank you. Hi, thank you. Hi, thank you. That you have been speaking to me today. I realize that today is the day of salvation for me. I don't know if I'm going to heaven or not, but I just heard that you, Jesus, are the way, the truth, and the life.

24:29 And that nobody, including me, gets to heaven except through Jesus. So Jesus, I am asking you to come into my heart. Come into my heart, Jesus. I take you off the cross, and I'm asking you to come into my heart. And today, I make you the Lord and Savior of my life. I believe it in my heart, and I say with my mouth, Jesus Christ is my Lord.

25:13 Amen. Yes. Yes. Now, if you prayed that prayer like that for the very first time, you're a child of God. Amen. Okay? Now, we are going to pray now for anybody who would like to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. Why don't you just come on up? Young people, anybody? I used to speak in a church in South Jersey called Mainland Assembly of God. Yes! And I'm telling you, God used to release me. The church was probably twice the size.

25:56 God used to release me to go into the congregation. I could tell who was filled and who wasn't. And I was filled with the truth. And I was filled with the truth. And I was filled with the truth. And I was filled with the truth. And I could tell who was filled and who wasn't. Oh, my God! She better not do that today! There's many of you that need to release your prayer letters. Just come on up! It's so much fun! Are you girls all filled, the Holy Ghost? Yeah, you all speak with tongues? Whoo! I can feel, ooh, a wave just came in.

26:38 Ooh. I'm telling you, there's like a cloud that just came in from behind me. See, see what happened now? The Holy Ghost did that, now everybody's responding. See, the resistance keeps people from receiving. Come on, there's more! There's gonna be a surge of this kind of praying in the church. Then you're not gonna be embarrassed, I promise. Come on, there's more. You feel this up here? When the Lord turned to captivity of Zion, we were like them that dreamed. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue was singing.

27:20 Then said they among the nations, He has done great things for us, whereof we are glad. Come on, come on, come on. Have you received the Holy Ghost since you believed? I've not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. Wow. I just sense in my spirit that there's some people on this side that need to come up. Don't make me come out and get you. Amen. Just come up a little closer.

28:01 Yeah, see? Come on. I'm not that scary. You feel love in here? There's so much love. This is love. The thing that I felt the most when I was baptizing the Holy Spirit it was like I was baptized in love. I still think there's somebody on this side that needs to respond. Ashe kateh amaya khanakteh. I just hear the Holy Ghost saying I am gonna restore this gift of tongues to my church and to my body because that's why men are so important and to my body because that's why many of my people are lacking in power because they've not received that which I said I would give them.
