Each man would send his own first-born son to go and live with his new covenant partner--permanently. This is why God asked for Isaac and sent Jesus. The NINTH step in ancient covenants which were practiced in Abram’s time was a NAME exchange. Each covenant partner would give PART of his name to the other person. That part would be ADDED to your original name, giving you a new COMPLETE name. The Hebrew name for God is YAH-WEH. God took the “AH” from His name and added it to Abram--he became AbrAHam. The EIGHTH step in ancient covenants which were practiced in Abram’s time was a Covenant MEAL. The entire meal centered around the pronouncement of blessings and curses (Step 7) in front of WITNESSES as EACH covenant partner fed the ENTIRE meal to their new covenant partner. Remnants of this ceremony have carried over into many modern-day weddings, where the husband and wife feed the first bite of wedding cake in front of similar witnesses!

The SEVENTH step in ancient covenants which were practiced in Abram’s time was a pronouncement of blessings and curses in front of witnesses. This was a formal event and these witnesses were there to confirm a serious & permanent covenant relationship with promises of GOOD things for adherence and CURSES for non-compliance. Join us!
