Episode 299 – Before & After the Wedding: Part 1

What does the Bible actually say about sex, marriage, and the human body? Not the watered-down, avoid-the-topic version, but the full, plain-spoken truth that Scripture lays out? In this teaching drawn from 1 Corinthians 7, we are taken directly into one of the most practical and surprisingly candid passages in all of Paul's writings. The central message is both simple and countercultural: God designed sexual intimacy as a gift reserved exclusively for the covenant of heterosexual marriage, and within that marriage, it is not optional or incidental but essential and protected. Paul's instruction that a husband and wife hold a kind of mutual authority over each other's bodies challenges every modern assumption about personal autonomy, and it reframes the marriage bed not as a battleground of competing desires but as a place of sacrificial love and mutual care. The spiritual insight here is profound. When we neglect this dimension of marriage, we do not simply create relational friction. We open a dangerous door that Scripture warns us about directly. Satan is identified as the one who capitalizes on the sexless or intimacy-starved marriage, exploiting a lack of self-control to lead us into sin. This is not a peripheral concern. It is a warning embedded in the Word of God itself, and it deserves our full attention.
