(208) “Victorious Over Fear” with Shirley Smith and Patricia Arenas

2:05 So Patricia. Yes. And Shirley, Mama Shirley, we call you Mama Shirley. We welcome you both to this podcast, for Global Outpouring Podcast. It is a pleasure to have you with us today. Thank you. Thank you. I know that both of you are very experienced in walking in places that are, how shall I say, a bit risky, perhaps? Hostile. Yes, even hostile. Yes. And so, you know, you've been walking with the Lord for quite a while and the Lord has taught you some things. So Mama Shirley, we'll start with you.

2:46 Can you tell us something about how you overcame fear? We did a podcast with you quite some time ago and we'll put a link to that. I'll just refer to a couple of stories that you told on that about how your dad was insistent to teach you not to fear and to teach you how to trust him by making you jump off the roof repeatedly into his arms. And he always caught you. So you learned that you could trust and you've learned to trust your heavenly father that way. Exactly. And something about the alligator. Yeah, yeah. He was a hunter and well, he had a market for frog legs. And so we frog-hunted a lot and he had, well, he just liked the missing way of the gators.

3:31 And so we always got, that was a challenge. Yeah, we always got gators too. And I had one for a pet and you know, it was about half grown, I guess. And I brought it home and he built a little pen for me to put it in. And I mean, my sister was in school and I was still home and I was bored. I was a very hyper child and it took my mom and my grandmother both to keep me entertained. And so yeah, and I played with the frogs and I put bonnets on them and I put little jackets on them and stuff like that.

4:11 Yeah, right. I would put the gator, but he wouldn't be still long enough. So you know, I just played with what I had and I had a dog and you know, I was a tomboy. Yes. Well, you already had an older sister? I did. Okay. And so your dad was expecting to have a boy after a girl. So right, so he just tried to make me in one, into one. And I played that role, you know, all my life growing up. Because you want to please your daddy. Of course, of course. And I got lots of praise, lots of pats on the back. Good girl, great job. Good girl, good girl. The affirmations, you know, it puts a trust in a child. It puts confidence in a child.

4:52 Makes them feel loved and accepted. So I could perform whatever he wanted to do. I could do it. Yeah. Including fighting in school. You remember everything. Oh, I remember that. I remember you said you were mean as a snake when you were in school. Well, yeah, he did. He taught me to fight and he would tell me, you know, if those boys on that bus when I was a young teen and the boys want to pick at you because they like you, but they want to pull your hair away and didn't take much to upset me. And I mean, my temper was real short. So I get in a fight with them and my dad said, if you come home and those boys, they beat you up, you know, what's going to happen to you? I'm going to beat you up too. I want you to fight until you see blood.

5:36 And that's what I did. And I was in the principal's office a lot. I know you've made the devil bleed a lot. Yeah, right. And I, well, you know what I did? I just transferred all that over from the natural into the spirit realm. Right. And that really made it a lot easier because I began to understand what warfare was like and why we had warfare and how we overcome in warfare. We don't cringe and scared to death, you know, oh, I can't. Oh, shut up. You can too. You know, I just sat in and have patience with people that didn't, that was fearful. Or I would say, give me a scripture says you can't do that.

6:16 Oh, I've told my team because, you know, I had a youth team for years. I say, give me a scripture says that you can't do that. Oh, my. That's good. Look at that. And they didn't have one. Because there isn't one. Right. And I said, okay, let me give you one that you can do that. And that was, I did a lot of teaching like that. That's good training. Very good training. Very good training. It's like a hands on training. Yes, it is. That's good, mama. So Patricia, what kind of things did you go through as a child that prepared you for the kind of work that you do in the Lord now? Awesome. Thank you for asking, and it's not as dangerous as mama Shirley.

6:57 I didn't have those kind of pets. And I was called princess. Oh, so I was the princess of the house. But you know, when I went to elementary school, you know, it was a little different for me because I was the short one. I was like almost like the runt. Okay. So when there's always short ones or, you know, they're just are smaller than everyone else, they kind of pick on you. Yeah, you get to. And as you get older, they become bullies. Right. And you have to learn how to fight for yourself. And being the princess, I really didn't. I always had my older sisters, you know, because I didn't have any older brothers.

7:41 And I had this one sister who was there to come to my rescue. And she thank God, you know, I learned from her. But what happened, you know, when I came to the Lord, prior to that, and it was through my sister, she joined the army. She was tough. She was the tough one. And of course, you know, she went to the little sister and she said, Well, do you want to join the army too? And I knew that if she's there, you know, I would be okay. So of course, I joined and we're not together. Right. So of course, I was 17.

8:22 My mother and father had to sign for me to go. Wow. I hadn't even finished high school yet. So of course you go and all of a sudden, there's a lot of bullies there too. Oh, yeah. And you have to learn how to fight and fight for yourself. And I didn't have the older sister now. Right. And they teach you and they train you, but they teach you how to be rough and how to think quickly on your feet, you know, and make wise decisions. And they teach you and train you in the military, because you have to know your enemies, right? You need to know who they are. But you also need to know who are your buddies.

9:03 And you have to learn to work together. And through all of that, when I came to the Lord, almost gosh, I was probably 36 when I met the Lord. And he had to teach me how to do spiritual warfare. Okay. And a lot of things I understood through my background in the military, but he also had to unteach me something. That's typical. So it's very typical. But he taught me through the word of God, how to take authority, what to do in those situations because you're battling an enemy that you normally don't see.

9:44 Right. You learn of him through the word of God and you know that there is an adversary. And we need to be taught by the Holy Spirit how to fight. Right. Amen. And he does it well. And if he could do that for me, the runt, he can surely do it for all of us. Amen. Amen. And we did a podcast with you before, so we'll also put a link to that one so that our listeners can go back and catch some more of your story and how you came to the Lord and so on. But we're talking today, it really was not our intention to start a series, but we kind of did.

10:27 And we started out two episodes ago with this message about where do you run for refuge? And of course, we run to the Lord. Absolutely. And then our last episode was delivered from fear. And so I just felt like we probably just needed to bang on this anvil one more time. Let's do it. Let's beat this horseshoe into shape. Come on. So Thomas Shirley, tell us something about things in your experience that have been training for you in the spirit realm, things that you had to overcome in order to have a victory over fear and whatever it is that the Lord has put on your heart here.

11:08 Oh, okay. Well, there was two things. One came earlier before I really knew the word. And I always thought that the Old Testament was just history, didn't have anything to do with us today. And the book of Psalms sound nice, but I didn't know how to appropriate the word because in the church I was in, they preach but don't teach. So I didn't really have any teaching or any grounding in the word. And so my husband worked shift work at the hospital. I was home a lot of times with my daughters. And I didn't realize until later that the Lord was allowing this to happen to teach me.

11:52 But while he was at work, and at nighttime, and people would flash flashlights through my windows, they would drag chains on my sidewalk. Oh my goodness. I would get I would get really bad phone calls late at night with threatening and just bad stuff. And I would just be petrified, petrified. In the summertime, I wouldn't even turn the air conditioner on, we'd lay there and my two daughters was we had a big king size bed. And they would sleep with me and I would fan us until we the girls fell asleep. Because I was so fearful. I wouldn't turn the air conditioner on because I couldn't hear anybody if they broke in. That's what fear is torment. Yes, it is. It's torment.

12:34 So I was oh, I was so tired of that. So one night I went to Wednesday night I went over to an assembly of God church. And there was a lady Methodist evangelist wife that was there. And she was saying that her husband was gone a lot because he's an evangelist. And that she was very fearful and she was left alone and they had a boy in the neighborhood that was mental. And it came to borrow one match from her. And she was just petrified. And the Lord took her to Psalms 91. Oh, yeah. Which I never realized 91 was in there, you know. And so she's talking about how God delivered her from fear.

13:17 Well, in my neighborhood, we had a boy in our neighborhood that was mental. He walked in the neighborhoods during the nighttime and he was a peeping Tom. So that's what I could relate to her. Okay, I could relate to it. Yeah. And that was the thing about the windows. And I could relate to what she was and I got very religious. I said, now, listen, I am not Methodist, but I am an A.O.G. I know that if you're going to give that to her, this is religious pride. And I said, I know you'll let me use it too. So I started using that and it started working. Glory to God.

13:57 Wow. This really, really works. There was a test that came after I began to learn who I was and my authority. And you had to call on the Lord. But anyway, it got really bad. I got a lot of bad phone calls late at night because I was alone and with just my daughters. And so these guys would call and tell me they were coming over. My husband was gone. All the things they wanted to do. And I would just shake again. That was the second trying time, you know. And then Brother Hagen, I began to listen to him about our authority as a believer, you know, and he began to talk about different types of spirits and how they operated and how they would speak to you and how they would threaten you and what the nature of those spirits were.

14:47 And I thought, wow, yeah, yeah, yeah, I know that one. I know that one, you know. And so I began to identify with what he was teaching and the scriptures that he gave us to go with that. And so I was getting ready. And I thought, oh, he just calls again. And so I told my husband, I said, he's fixing to change shifts. And I said, let's don't tell anybody that you're changing shifts and let's see if I get a phone call. So we had a neighbor across the street that asked him to come and ride with him. He was in flight training to come ride with him while he was picking up some hours. And my husband said, I really don't have time.

15:29 And he kept pressuring him and pressuring him. And James said, well, I have this to do and that to do. And finally, James said, I changed shifts at four and I just can't do it. I don't have time. He was the only one who knew that James was changing shifts. He was gone about 20 minutes to work. And I got the phone call. Wow. By then I had learned a few things. And I said, yeah, come on over, come on over. I'm waiting on you because you have a spirit of lust and I've got the spirit of God and I got that knowing I'm going to cast that thing out of you. And that was it. Oh, you talking about heyday.

16:11 Oh, Lord. Because I had done learned that I had got him give me a spirit of fear, but power, love and a sound mind. That's right. And so, honey, I didn't get any more phone calls. Wow, glory to God. So I just conquered fear just one at a time. Because these tests kept coming and I didn't know God was getting me ready for bandits, you know, in Mexico and all the wild stuff. But he did. He was already had me in training and right there in my own house. That's right. And so that's the way I started out with this. Okay, okay, okay. Now you can't refer to that and not tell us that story. So what happened with bandits in Mexico? I loved it.

16:52 That's so powerful. It was great. It was powerful. Well, my father, like I said, was a very strict disciplinarian. And so when I met the man who was the head of the Bible school in Monterey, he was just like my father, but he was a spiritual man. And he would just jerk me up and tell me you're going to do this. And I said, No, I'm not. And he said, Yes, you are. And one night we was in a bull ring and in Cataracta. But not with a bull? No, not with a bull. But he had rented the bull ring. Okay, I wanted to clarify. It's different animals. No one would have doubted me if he'd had a bull in there.

17:34 I'll tell you. Because he was just that dynamic and just that bold and just that daring. He was like my daddy, but spiritual. So it was for a crusade? Yes. Yes. Oh, yeah. And he just rented it and had an evangelistic meeting. He brought a lot of the students that came along that night. And so you never knew when you were going to speak. So you always had to be prepared. So when we got there, he said, Sister Smith, you're preaching tonight. Okay. And so I got the microphone. He said, No, give me the mic. And he said, Before you start, he said, There's a man who is demon possessed.

18:15 And he said, I told the pastors that we would pray for him before the meeting started. So we're going to pray for him. I said, Well, I'm not. And he said, Oh, yes, you are. And I said, Oh, no, I'm not. I don't know anything about that. And I'm not doing it. And he said, Don't you ever tell me that. Don't you ever speak like that to me in my presence. Don't you ever show fear of a devil in my presence. Wow. And boy, he just started jerking me around with words. That slack out. And I could just hear my father. I'm going, Yes, sir. Yes, sir. And so he brought the guy up, you know, and and so the guy's on the ground and I'm on a wooden platform. And so I was over just looking at him and praying, you know, and all of a sudden his shirt started doing this.

18:58 Okay, so you're pulling on your shirt up and put my shirt was his shirt was moving up and down. And so I fell to the wind. I didn't feel any wind. My clothes wasn't moving. The students came up and they said, I don't know, I mean, sister, look, and they started doing their shirt. And they said, What is this? And I went, I don't know. And I said, Okay, God, what is what's going on? What is this? Why is his shirt moving? Why is his stomach jumping? And he said, The demons fear and tremble in my presence. Oh, I shouted all over the platform.

19:38 Pastor Dawson said, settle down, settle down, settle down. What's going on? I said, Oh, you know what God said? And I told him and he just laughed because he was used to that, you know. And so we get ready to do the deliverance and the man gets his hands up and I don't know anything about Spanish at that time, you know. And so I reached up and caught his hand. He went, Calleante, Calleante. What's wrong with him? And so I would catch his hand again. And he called Calleante, which means hot, hot, hot. You know, I didn't realize I was grounded in him. He was on the ground and I was on wood and I was shucking the fire out of him and I could see sparks.

20:23 You know, and I thought it was the Holy Ghost. I thought it was the anointing and I went, well, the anointing sure is strong tonight. You know, I didn't know any different. So I told Brother Dawson, I said, a man is saying that he's hot. I said, but you know, he's on the ground because I knew about electricity because my father taught me that. And I said, he's on the ground and I'm up here and I'm shocking him. And I said, he said, oh, that's why he's saying Calleante. And he just laughed and laughed and he thought that it was so funny. So he sent the guy back because he just lost it. He laughed so hard, he couldn't even get in the mood to pray anymore. So anyway, I preached the sermon that night and everybody came and it was, oh, it was so awesome.

21:08 It was like popcorn. The healings were like popcorn. Glory to God. They were so fast, you couldn't even record it. Wow. And, and I remember this one lady just grabbed me. Her knees was all messed up and I prayed and God healed her and she picked me up and tried to start walking around with me. Almost dropped me and I grabbed the stage. And by the time I looked at Brother Dawson, he's six, four. He's great, big, tall, slim. He leaped off the platform. There was three men with crutches and he grabbed one and took off running. I'm thinking, oh, lawsuit, lawsuit, lawsuit. That's American thinking, you know? And so, and so he just kept running. He, he come back around and turned him loose and the man kept running.

21:50 He went back and grabbed the other one. He took off running with him, did the same thing. All three men got healed. Oh my God. That's the kind of miracles I got exposed to. So my faith was just quickly developed and just over the top. Oh yeah. So I had all that under my belt before I ever went to the mountains. Okay. And that's where the bandits were. Yes. Yes. Yes. Then what happened? Well, on this particular trip, we were going down and that Haley's Comet, y'all probably remember that when it was manifesting or whatever you want to call it. And well, you could see the gold dust kind of coming from that. You remember that Haley's Comet?

22:32 Yeah. And so the Lord told me that day to watch the heavens and we looked, I did, we watched, we watched the comet and we got into Mexico and it was real, real hazy over Monterey and you really couldn't see anything then. So when we left Monterey and went on into the mountains and my husband was driving, it was long, long, long trip. And my husband was pretty heavy on accelerator anyway. And so we were flying through those Sierra Madre mountains and those hairpin curves. I mean, it was like this. And I remember we had a friend that she was always pleading the blood, pleading the blood. And I said, Barb, you've pled the blood 10 times.

23:13 She said, shut up, Shirley, one more coat don't hurt. She was so scared of this trip. We had a lot of fun. Anyway, and I was, everything was flying around and Lord kept telling me, watch the heavens, watch. I said, I have it. I see nothing. What do you want me to see? I can see cactus. I can see goats and I see donkeys and I see all of this scenery. And I said, what do you want me to see? And so he said, look up. I looked up in the heavens. I saw all these white things up in the sky. I said, Lord, what is that?

23:54 Oh, I shouldn't have asked. Zoom. This humongous angel comes down on the back of this white dove, like about, I don't know, 25 or 30 foot wingspan right alongside our truck. Cause we had a truck with a camper on the back and us ladies put a mattress back there and we'd ride in the back. And it was right alongside our truck. And he had long hair. He had high cheek, deep set eyes. He had a real square chin. I've seen them several times since then, but I mean, his features is very distinct and his hair was about shoulder length and kind of semi curly.

24:39 And he had a rain, holding the reins, then went through the mouth of the dove and he was just riding right alongside our vehicle. I was just screaming, just one scream after another. I was in shock and I was screaming and screaming and, and I turned and I looked at first, I looked away from him because I was in shock and I looked back and he looked at me right straight in the eyes and threw his head back and laughed and zoomed and went up. Wow. And I thought I would have a heart attack. I mean, my heart pounded so hard.

25:19 I like to have never physically got control. And then I still didn't have my English. All I could do is just, my teeth were just chattering, everything. And all I could do was speak in tongues, speak in tongues. And I thought the English would come sooner or later and I can tell them, you know, what's going on. And so when finally, it took me a long time to finally, cause that was a very shocking instant thing that happened that I was not expecting. And so when I finally calmed down and got my English back and they were asking me what was wrong with me, what happened? And I was trying to explain and the other lady said, Oh no, no, no, no, it was not.

25:59 It was not an angel. It was a Cobra snake. What? That's what I said. Cobra snake. And we were going into the mouth of the, I said, no such a thing. It was an angel on the back of a dove and we had this big difference. And I said, okay, everybody just drop it. We're not going to talk about it. I don't understand it. We're not discussing this anymore. Just drop this up. So we did. So when we got to Jose's house, whose we worked with, he was our missionary. He said, well, there was no phone in the village and there's no way to ever contact him, let him know when we're coming. But God always gave him a vision or a dream and he always was ready when we got there.

26:41 So he already had the horses and everything ready. And he said, I have a new village to go to. And he said, would you all go with me? We said, sure, sure. So we said, I got the animal. So we all loaded up the next day and we were on the mules and we were going through there. And I saw these men and they had machete knives and they had pistols on their hips and they had masks on their face. And I thought, this is a weird looking bunch. And I thought, hmm, they sure dress different here. That's all I thought. Because in different parts of Mexico, they do dress different. And I thought, they dress different here.

27:23 And I wasn't frightened. I wasn't alarmed. I wasn't thinking anything about it really. But I thought, well, I thought the machete is, they probably cut their way through the woods, through the mountains here, because this is the Sierra Madres. And I think the guns is wild animals. They probably use the guns for that. I could reason out why they had these weapons. And so we went on in and there's a whole bunch more dressed just like them. And we stayed two or three days. I forget how many it was. It was just like over a weekend. And so when we came back out, they were very friendly. They killed a goat and made us all these delicious dishes.

28:03 It was delicious. And they gave us their beds. And this old grandmother slept in the corn crib and let us have her bed. That's how precious those people are. Well, so Barb Wayne slept in another one and the mattress kept rattling and rattling. They said, there must be corn chucks in here. And they pulled it up and it was a leopard skin. Oh man, Barb freaked. Wow. Because it was a wild animal. It was a leopard skin. But anyway, it was a lot of new things. We'd never encountered anything like that before. And so the day we got ready to leave, well, Barb was talking to Jose and she said, Jose, while we were here, you kept using the word bandito, bandito.

28:51 She said, were you talking about when you were abandoned and you were in prison and you got saved? You gave him your testimony and he said, no. She said, well, were you talking about bandits? And he said, no. She said, well, yes, you were. You kept using that word. He said, no, Sister Barb, I was talking to the bandits. She said, what? I was talking to the bandits. You mean to tell me that where we just came from, those are bandits because they all had bounties on their head. They were all wanted. They'd all went back in there and built this village to escape from the law. And then he told us everything, you know, all he told us all of that. And so she slapped my mule and she said, run, Shirley, run.

29:36 I said, well, Barb, we've already gone and come out. We didn't get killed. We're okay. So we was riding along there on this mule and I said, God, would you explain a few things to me? Would you tell me what all this is about? And he said, remember that angel I showed you? And I went, yeah. The one I nearly had a heart attack over. And he said, yeah. And he said, he protected you while you were there. And that cobra snake was the bandits village that you went in because these are deadly people. It's like the cobra snake is. Wow. That's amazing. So you each saw something. Don't you love it? Each of you saw something that was a part of.

30:17 Yeah, I saw the angel and she saw the cobra snake in the truck that night. And I kept, you know, I like to never got my English, but when I finally did it, I was trying to explain to them what I just saw. She was going down and she was as upset as I was because she had just seen a cobra. And so it's walking into its mouth. Wow. Yeah. They both saw what was going to happen. Yeah. But you know, three months later, God called me back there again and I took a team of young people. Wow. I did. I'm going, God, are you sure? I don't know about confirmations in the word. He gave me confirmations and he said, I want you to take balls. I said, we are not going on vacation, Lord.

31:00 We are going to witness. We're going to preach. We're going to be missionaries. And he said, take, take the balls. I said, I don't have any, I don't have money to buy any because I wasn't wanting to do that. And he said, call the schoolhouse and they'll give you some. I said, they don't even know me. I don't have any kids to go to school. But anyway, I called the school. They said, we're just cleaning out everything, all of our gymnasium and getting rid of all of our balls and bats and stuff and getting new equipment and just come get all that you want. Wow. Look at that. So I got bags, got toe sacks and got bags of them, you know, put them back in the truck and took them down and we tied them onto the mules and took them back into the village.

31:44 Wow. And they were so excited to see us. So when we got there, they boys started playing baseball and it was a bunch of bandits. I guess they might've been new ones. They came out of nowhere. I don't know. They was way over here somewhere and they heard everybody running and hollering and playing and they come up and they were hanging on the fence watching, you know, and they said, we want to play. We want to play. I was, I said, no, you don't come to service and you can't play. Oh, we'll come to service. That is so good. I love it. They came that night and they got saved that night. Glory to God. Wow. I love it. I know, but I won't tell this one though, but cause this one was just crazy.

32:27 I'm telling you, I've never done anything like it, but I wouldn't say I wouldn't do it again. I don't know. Just depending on how the Lord moved. But when we went back, one of my boys was praying before we, before service started and he said, he said, I saw a cobra snake and it was coming to the village here. And I said, that's okay. I never tell them what we, what happened before on the first trip. I said, that's okay. We'll pray and God will take care of it. Don't worry about it. So we prayed. And so Jose and I always dig tag teaching. So we had a 50 gallon drum with a cold old lamp on top. That was what we had for light. But there was a real full moon that night and we had a lot of lights, moonlight and the air is crystal clear there.

33:14 I mean, there's no smile and you can see everything. You even see your shadow at night. So Jose was preaching and then I'll preach for a while. And I gave it back to him and up rides these three men. And the Lord said, that's the Cobra. So we had a big long log that we didn't have enough seats for everybody. It was big, long, long. And they came and sat down. I don't know what happened to me, but something just began to rise up at this righteous indignation, this anger, whatever it was. I said, I need the microphone. He looked at me like you've already had your turn, you know? And I said, I need the microphone.

33:56 He said, okay. I said, follow me. So we went over and I said, I got right down in their faces. Oh my. I know who you are. I know why you're here, but I also know that the angel of the Lord is here and will strike you dead if you dare to think that you'll touch anybody in this place. You understand me? Wow. And I hand the microphone back to him. He looked at me like, my God, what is sure? He never knew what I was going to do and I didn't either. So anyway, the host says, got it. He's preaching again. And I went, God, that felt good. I said, I think I'll do it again.

34:38 I got up. I'm sitting back, kind of back against the building. They're sitting out here on this log and I walked right up to him and he leaned back like this. And I got right down and I said, look at me, devil, look at me. You are bound. You understand that you are bound and you can't touch us. You understand that devil? And he just looked at me. I was trying to walk down. I went and got me a drink of water and I come back and I sat down and I went, God, that felt good. I'm going to do it again. I got up and I went back. God's my witness. And I went back and I talked to the second one and I got right down and that mask was on.

35:19 I got right down in his face and I said, devil, tell you something. You come up here to harm us, but you can't touch us. You couldn't touch us with a 50 foot pole. You understand me devil? And I gave him a good talking to and I left and went across and I come back and I thought I'm going to get the third one. So my kids were watching me do all this. Are you doing this in English? And did you have an interpreter? No, you just talking to the devil. You're talking to the devil. The devil understood English. Of course he does. Of course he does. Just want to clarify the story. That's good. So anyway, I went to the third one and he was so scared by then he fell off and blowed backwards off the log.

36:02 So fun. Glory to God. Where's my jawbone? But let me tell you how you can come be cut back down to size. Oh my. That night we got ready to go to bed and I saw a bug I'd never seen before. I freaked out. And I said, I am not sleeping in that room. After all that. Oh my God. What happened? Well he just took all that pride out of me. It's what he did. I couldn't handle the bug.

36:42 Oh, that's funny. But it was the Holy Spirit in you that brought you into that place of boldness. Oh, absolutely. And you had learned that by the word of God, right? Yeah. And by jumping off the house. And your pets. And my pets. Yeah. I mean, my father really groomed me for the mission fail without ever knowing that he did. Yeah. And Brother Dawson almost killed me after I got there. You know, he would just put me wherever. You know, let me just bring a little clarity here. It's easy for us to look at your upbringing and say your dad was abusive.

37:26 But it was preparing you for what you were going to do as an adult for God. Right. Right. So, listener, perhaps you have been through some abusive situation. Let God turn that around for you. And make it your platform. And your strength. Yes. Amen. Go right on. Absolutely. Yeah. What I loved what you said, Mama Shirley, is that it was little by little. And that's how we learn how to fight, how to battle in a spiritual warfare. The training that you said to God since you were a child unto adulthood, it had to be a little bit at a time to get you to that confidence.

38:16 Right. I mean, we see that even as you're speaking to us right now, the confidence and the boldness. But it was the Spirit of the living God to speak through you. You allowed the Holy Spirit to just be full measure in you. And the devil did recognize. Yeah. And you feel it. You feel it in your spirit, man. You feel the anointing. You feel the boldness. And you feel, I mean, I feel like just really physically take them guys down. Yes. Amen. But it wasn't because you knew how to fight in school. It was because of something that came in with the Holy Spirit.

38:57 Amen. Okay. Because I want to encourage people that are timid, that don't have that kind of upbringing, that just because they haven't had that kind of upbringing or that kind of experience, the righteous are as bold as a lion. Yes. So the other half of that is the wicked flee when no man pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion. And I think we have to recognize, and I'm not one that came up with that kind of training. And it was always be nice, behave, be a good girl. Although, I was the tree climber of the family.

39:41 I was the tomboy, you know, but I didn't have that boldness. I didn't have a bold bone in my body, really. But I began to get ahold of that scripture, the righteous are as bold as a lion. Amen. And for me, it takes the Holy Spirit to make me bold. Because it's not in my nature to be bold. I mean, I'm not afraid to stand in front of 30,000 people to speak. That doesn't bother me a bit. There's no fear there. But I'm more likely to be fearful if I'm in a situation with a one on one, like if I have to start a conversation. That's where it's like, I'm not going to start a conversation.

40:24 Come on. Somebody else can start the conversation and I'll have a conversation. But what I'm saying is that different people have a different background and different situations. And what we can learn from each other is that there is that place in God where there is a boldness and you can stand up and do something that you don't think you can do if God tells you to do it. If God tells you to do it, if God gives you that, or if you have a brother Dawson who says, oh, yes, you will. Or if they have a mama Shirley that says, show me a scripture that says you can't. Yeah, that's absolutely right.

41:04 You know, we have to we have to get it in our thinking. We have to get kingdom thinking that the King gives us orders that we can do. He's not going to ask us to do something that we can't do. Or maybe he's going to ask us to do something that we think we can't do, but we can with him. Right. Right. Because Jesus said, Jesus said, without me, you can do nothing. Absolutely. And he's right. He's absolutely right. Without him, we can do nothing. And we've probably all had experiences where we've tried to do something that wasn't him and didn't succeed.

41:44 Didn't succeed. Yeah. And you brought up an excellent point. And what you said was, you know, we're all different. And we didn't have the experiences as mama Shirley has had. But it reminded me of David. Right. He came to the battlefield and the King, King Saul wanted to give him his armor. And he even tried it on. I mean, I could do some of the things that mama Shirley has done, but if it doesn't fit, I can't war in that. I have to be trained. And he was trained by the Lord in a place where you would have, who is he going to protect? But it was the lions and the bears and everything else.

42:27 And it just reminded me of that, that the training that we have from the Lord is unique to each and every one of us. And we have to know our own armor. We have to put on our own armor. We have to learn how to fight the way he reveals to us. It's very important. It's true. Otherwise we can lose the battle and not only get yourself harmed, but those that are with you. So we need to be trained. Right. But hearing other people's experiences gives us a boldness, gives us a hope. Yes, absolutely. There's hope. Okay, if she can do it, I can do what God told me to do.

43:07 So good. Yeah. So what experiences have you had, Patricia, that have given you this understanding of you have the victory? Absolutely. Well, definitely, you know, learning how to wield our sword, learning the word of God. Yes. You've got to know the word of God. If you do, then you can use that sword. Right. It reminds me of that. I forget he was the son of Dodo. And he went and he fought and fought so much that even the blood just wielded itself on the sword. Yeah. They had to pry his hands off from that. And that's how we are with the word of God.

43:49 So when the enemy comes to your door. That's right. And he has done that many times, you know, to each and every one of us, like you said, those abusive situations, you know, there's so many out there that they're abused either by a family member or with all these other things that are happening in the world. How do we fight against that? You know, and I've learned how to do that only through the word of God. There's just no other way. It was awesome. You said it was victorious over fear. And mama Shirley said earlier in her testimony, you need to know who you are.

44:32 That's right. And if we don't have that identity as to who we are, and we'll never be confident enough or bold enough. And I want to encourage, especially the women that are listening, that the Lord has a purpose for you. And your purpose is to be victorious. And when you have fear, it turns into faith. When we hear testimonies like mama Shirley or myself or others that come on these podcasts, my goodness, it should build up our faith. And even says build up your most holy faith.

45:14 And those are the tools. Those are the weapons of our warfare, as I spoke about in 2 Corinthians chapter 10, verse four and five, we need to utilize and sharpen those weapons, because they're always going to be used in whatever situation it might be in your front door, like it happened with Jayel or Yael in the story with Deborah. Deborah was in the front lines. She was there. But that mama was in her tent. It was like the stay home moms, but you're learning how to fight in your home. I call them the foxholes.

45:57 And you're in your foxhole. You could call it your secret closet, but he's teaching you how to war. He's training you. And that's how he's trained me. You learn how to battle. You learn how to fight those things within your home. Then he promotes you. And now it's your community. Now it's your neighborhood. It's in your church. Then he promotes you to start praying for your city, your county, your state. Now we're praying for our nation and nations, but it's all developed. When we come to these things that are happening in our lives, whether we're abused or misused, it's right at our door.

46:42 Now they're coming for our children. And that's what happened with Jiel. Cicera, a general, came to her tent. To me, that's a home. And she knew how to wield that tent peg with that nail. And she was not afraid. So he said, may I have water? She gave him milk. Why don't you just get relaxed? You've just been in a terrible battle. He was a bully. Why didn't he stay back and fight with his troops? He didn't. He ran off, it says. And he ran off to go hide where the women were. But this woman was not just a woman.

47:26 She was a warrior. And the song and the glory was given through Deborah's song to a woman. And I want to encourage us, all of us, even the men, the women, that story and judges about Deborah, it's a now word. We need to come together. And that's how he's training us, each of us, to be those chael. Chael is a Hebrew word, and it's both for men and women. In fact, that's what they call the IDF. It's chael. And what it is is strong, courageous, bold, and army, wealth.

48:09 It is a man or woman of valor. There you go. Valor, being valiant, being victorious. And that's what we're talking about today. How are we victorious over the small things so that we can have the victory in the larger victories? Amen. Because we now know we're confident and that the Lord has trained us. And what better trainer says that he's a mighty man of war? Amen. He's a mighty man of war, and he's going to be there with us. And that's what we need to learn as men and women to be bold as a lion, as he taught you.

48:51 Learn our weapons of our warfare. Be those that will come together in unity and be in a team and train the next generation to be as bold as a lion, because that's what we need now, because the enemy is at our door. But we're not going to flee. That's right. We're going to stand still and see. The Lord even says, fear not, stand still and see the salvation of our Lord. And he does. He, the battle is the Lord's, but we're there in victory already. Amen. Amen. Amen. I just want to say two things.

49:32 We'll get ready to close. One thing I do want to honor my father in this, because as a child growing up, he was very fearful because his father was very abusive to him. And what he was trying to do for me was to make me confident and fearless. And so he wasn't trying to be mean to me. He was trying to give me confidence. And that's why he would do the things that he did. But what I wanted to bring out is this scripture says, for God has not given us, God did not give us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind. And the Lord gave me that scripture a lot, many years ago.

50:13 And I read that and I didn't get it. And the Lord said, read it again. I did. He said, read it again. We went through this several times. And finally, he said, slowly read that. For God has not given us a spirit of fear. Oh, I mean, fear is a spirit for God has not given us the spirit of fear, but a power, love and a sound mind. And I read that over and over until I finally got it. And he said, he kept telling me to slow down. Okay. It said spirit of fear, spirit of fear. Oh, fear is a spirit. And he said, do you have authority or fear?

50:56 I went, well, yes. So that was what really set me free. That put a foundation in me. That fear is the spirit. And I have authority over spirits. That's exactly right. That one verse right there was just monumental in my life. Second Timothy chapter one, verse seven. Okay. Would one of you like to pray for our listeners? Absolutely. Go ahead. Well, father, we just, we just want to give you the glory and the honor first and foremost for just having the opportunity to share testimonies and, and just being able to share with each and every one of you that are listening, you know, that you are bold, you are courageous, you are mighty because that is who he has created you to be.

51:47 And we want to affirm you. We want to say, you know, these are, yes, the attributes that comes from our father because he is strong. He is mighty. He is valiant and we come from him. Yes. So father, we just want to thank each and every person that is listening in and those that will listen later in these replays. And you just take authority, take authority of through the word of God, through the weapons of our warfare, everything that he's given us, it's the word, it's the spirit of the living God who's in us, absent the blood, the blood of Jesus is against every demonic entity.

52:31 You take the authority and say, get behind me. Satan, that thought is not from my father. You have to take your thoughts captive immediately. Yes. And you tear them down. You bring down those strongholds. This was taught to us by the Lord. And if he can teach us, he can certainly teach each and every one of you, you just ask him, father, how do I handle this situation? He will give it to you. He will give you the praise. He will give you the worship. He will give you the song. He will give you the dance. These are all weapons, everyone. These are the weapons of our warfare and even love. He says perfect love casts out fear.

53:13 Amen. Perfect love. That means when you know who you are and whose you are, that perfect love, the one who loves you more than anything or anyone lives inside you. And once you know that and you're restored to your identity, Satan can't take that. He has to bow down just like how mama Shirley, when she was moving her shirt up and down, the demons know that there is a God and they tremble. They know that there's a God. And I just want to end with this is we could fear government, we could fear the world, we could fear even Satan, but the Lord says fear God.

53:56 Fear the true and living God and heed his word. There's many things. This is in Isaiah 8 where there's conspiracies and there's all kinds of things going on. We're hearing this and that. He says, listen to him. Hear the Lord God. He said, you fear him out of reverence, out of awe, because the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil. And it says here in Isaiah 33 six, and I love this and I'll end with this because it's so precious because we know that there's a shaking going on in the world. But he says, even if that is shaken, that we are on the rock.

54:41 We need to stand still and know that he is God. But I'm going to read Isaiah 33 six to you all. Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability. We need to be stable at this time. It's the stability of our times because so much everything's accelerating. All kinds of things are going on, but we need not fear. We need not fear what's going on in the world. We fear the Lord. And look what he says here. The strength of salvation, he says, the fear of the Lord is his treasure. So seek, seek the fear of the Lord because that is the beginning of wisdom.

55:27 And we need wisdom during these times that we're in because we're going to stand and we're going to stand on that evil day together because we're going to be the ones that when people are out there saying, what do I need to do to be saved? We're going to have the answer and we're going to be in that stability of our times to know that receive the Lord Jesus Christ, be baptized and repentance, receive the Holy Spirit and fire so that we can go and preach the gospel and bring more into the kingdom of God.
