(245) “Love Is the Fulfilling of the Law”

0:00 Jesus was going deeper in the meaning of what was given in the law. It's not just a matter of keeping it on the outside. You got to keep these laws on the inside because this is how you show that you love God. Jesus said, if you love me, keep my commandments. It's about keeping commandments according to our heart by the Spirit. So get in agreement with the Holy Spirit. Yes, that's it. Because as you walk in the Spirit, you're going to be fulfilling the law of love.

The one that we did with Dean Braxton in our last episode about the love of God from heaven's perspective and the one we did before that, episode 243. What about the law?

So today we're going to talk about love is the fulfilling of the law. Do you remember what Dean was talking about last time about how in heaven, love is the atmosphere and how every time he would look at the Lord and just be overwhelmed with the love that was coming for him as he was comprehending how much love there was in the next moment that God was creating more love for him and that every single person all at once.

3:32 It's kind of like going from glory to glory. Yes, going from love to love and he talked about the glory being the love of God. So in order for us to operate on earth as it is in heaven, we need to understand more about this law of love and how sometimes we get a little bit overwhelmed with keeping the rules. We talked about how Torah, keeping Torah, keeping the Word of the Old Testament, how it was not designed to be something that you do only on the outside, but that it was designed to be a picture of what it looks like when you love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, with all your strength and you love your neighbor as yourself.

4:22 Jesus showed us, told us that these are the two most important commandments and he said all of the law and the prophets hang on these two things. And I think if I'm not mistaken, I think that the great rabbi teacher before Jesus even came to earth, Hillel, I think he said something about if you could have the Torah standing on one foot. I think that's how the question was put to him. Can you do the Torah standing on one foot? In other words, distill it down to the simplest version. This is it. This is it. Love God and love your neighbor. And how many laws and things were put into practice since Hillel?

5:06 Oh yeah, well, absolutely. And it's not like our Congress, they keep creating them all the time. That's all they do all day. Right. And I think we talked about that a couple of episodes ago, where in the years that we've had a Congress, it's like over 300,000 laws have been enacted and that doesn't even count your local ones and your state ones. So you know, there are lots and lots of laws. But if you are walking in love with God, you're probably just going to do naturally the right things. What did Jesus say about the laws? You strain it in that and you swallow a camel. You're right. Well, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that laws were added.

5:50 They talk about oral law as though God gave two different sets of law at Mount Sinai and one of them was written down and one of them was handed down orally. Well, that is a fable. And also, I remember in psychology class, the teacher took everybody in the front of each row and whispered a story to them and they tell it to the one behind them. Then the one tells them to the one behind them. And so the last person in line, in the end of the row, they come up and tell their interpretation. And you got all different stories. So what happens in an oral law?

6:32 Exactly. You know, and that's one class, one hour. So now you've got hundreds of years. Exactly. Even thousands of thousands of years. You think it's going to be the same? Right. I don't think so. So at one point it was decided we better write this down. All these oral traditions. Well, part of the problem with traditions is that if you do something enough times in a row, it becomes a habit and you view it as though it's law. It's very good. And that is one of the teachings in Judaism that you have these laws that are enacted because of tradition. But this is stuff that's been added.

7:13 And God said over and over, don't add anything. Don't add it and don't take it away. But there's a thing called Takkanot. The word Takkanot, it actually means improvement. And these are added laws. They're laws that are added by tradition. And then there's adjustments to fit the changes of culture or life situation. And it got to the point where they felt like whatever the rabbi said was more important than what God said. That's pretty scary. It's very scary. And look at the result of that today. Right. And in Judaism, you have this group that is totally wrapped up in the traditions of men and rabbinical teachings and twisting of scriptures, interpreting things and adding and adding and even taking away.

8:08 There are a lot of things that the rabbis put into place that take away from what the scriptures say. And that's like the ultra-orthodox. Well, I don't... Orthodox, yes. I guess it covers the whole spectrum of Judaism. I mean, the kosher law especially, Shabbat laws. All the kosher laws that they've built for dietary things, they built them on the scripture that says, you shall not see the kid in its mother's milk. What does the Hebrew say? So it actually says that. You shall not see the boy or the baby goat in its mother's milk. But what that means is not what was interpreted in the Middle Ages when these rabbis decided to write down what it means and create this whole idea of you can't eat dairy and meat in the same meal.

9:00 What it actually means is that you shouldn't boil a kid in its mother's milk because that was a tradition of idolatry. It was something that was done in celebration of some kind of idol worship. So God was just saying, don't participate in those things that the heathen do, that the Gentiles do in their worship of idols. So look how complicated it is today in an orthodox home. You have to have two sinks. Oh, yeah. You have to have two refrigerators. Right, one for dairy and one for meat. It just gets more and more complicated. It's more just the way, the wrong way that it was interpreted.

9:43 Right. So here's the thing. I love the Hebrew scriptures. You know, I've said it a gazillion times. Well, maybe that's exaggerating. Probably not a gazillion, but I've said it many times that I'm a Hebrew scholar wannabe. I'm not a Hebrew scholar, but I love the things that you get out of the Hebrew scriptures. And many of the traditions that come with Judaism have wonderful meanings, but we're not required to keep all of those things. And the folks that are teaching Hebrew roots with a godly, loving heart, okay, I don't want to be down on this.

10:27 I want us to be able to walk in balance that, first of all, that we not be pharisaical with each other and being law police, okay? If you are inclined to keep these laws, do it for the right reason because you have a heart of love for God. But there are lots of things that are taught by the rabbis that have nothing to do with the scriptures except interpretations of the scriptures. Yeah, it's like, well, with Jesus and the disciples, he was forever breaking their laws. Exactly. But you know, Jesus is God on earth. So if God on earth says you don't have to do this, why are people wanting to do it?

11:12 Right. And then Jesus also in the Sermon on the Mount, and we said this before in the previous podcast, but just to reiterate, Jesus was going deeper in the meaning of what was given in the law, like about don't commit adultery. And Jesus says if you're looking at a woman to lust after her as though in your mind you're committing adultery with her, it's the same as if you were committing adultery. In other words, and that's if you're undressing her in your mind. Yeah, that kind of stuff. Exactly the same thing. Same thing. So what he's saying is that it's not just a matter of keeping it on the outside.

11:53 You got to keep these laws on the inside because this is how you show that you love God. Jesus said, if you love me, keep my commandments. So it's about keeping commandments according to our heart by the spirit. Okay? I want to touch a couple of things anyway, of things that we have some disagreements about in the body of Christ that I want to bring some balance to, to bring some tolerance to. And so why is this important? Why is it, if this is really important that I explained why this is important, because in this outpouring, in this outpouring that we are fully expecting, it's going to require all hands on deck.

12:42 And we need to have mature people that can rightly divide the word of truth, that know the word of God, they've studied the word of God, but not just to do things by the letter of the law or by even by the letter of the New Testament. Okay? It's about doing it from the heart by the leading of the Holy Spirit. Okay? For instance, for instance, when the spirit of God fell on Cornelius's house, Peter and the Jews that were with him did not know what to do. Yeah, that was totally contrary. Yeah, it was contrary to their understanding of the law.

13:25 Because they'd been so programmed, don't have anything to do with the Gentiles. But here you have a Gentile that's a, that is a high rank and he's commanded you to come. Right? Well, not only that, it has to do with the Holy Spirit told Peter, go with them and don't be afraid. The point being that as we move forward into the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, that we be so in tune with the Holy Spirit. I think there's going to be increase in knowledge of the Holy Spirit when this happens. Yes. You know, as far as that meeting people and organizing things, the Holy Spirit is just going to, you know, accelerate people getting saved.

14:09 Yeah. Yeah. Wow. And I love what it says in Galatians 5, 13 to 18. It says, brethren, you've been called to liberty. Only don't use liberty as an occasion to flesh, but by love serve one another. Remember Dean Braxton told us in a few podcasts back about serving, about how heaven is all about serving and that you greet one another by saying, how can I serve you? Because we serve by love. Okay. By love serve one another. And then it says in verse 14, for all the law is fulfilled in one word, even this, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.

14:51 And then it goes on to say, if you're led of the spirit, you are not under the law. It's the law of love that God wants us to get. In the Old Testament or the Hebrew scriptures, in Joshua 22, 5, it says in the New King James, but take careful heed to do the commandment and the law, which Moses, the servant of the Lord commanded you to love the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to keep his commandments, to hold fast to him, then to serve him with all your heart, with all your soul. So even under the law itself was the admonition to serve the Lord and keep his law because you love him.

15:34 And then I love how it, I love Psalm 119. I fell in love with that when I fell in love with Jesus because he's speaking of the law and four different times he talks about, oh, how I love your law. It's my meditation all the day. And verse 165, great peace. Have those who love your law and nothing causes them to stumble. Then Romans 13, 8 and 10 says, Oh, no one, anything except to love one another for he who loves has fulfilled the law. Verse 10, love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment or the King James says, fulfilling of the law. James 2, 8 says, if you really fulfill the royal law, according to the scripture, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.

16:20 You do well. Okay. So there's these wonderful scriptures, scripture after scripture about love fulfills the law and love is the atmosphere of heaven. So if we're trying to be the people that do on earth as it is in heaven, according to the prayer that Jesus taught us to pray, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. So his will in heaven is obviously that we walk in love. So in Colossians chapter two, starting with verse 16, it says, let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink or in respect of unholy day or of the new moon or of the Sabbath days, which are a shadow of things to come.

17:11 This is where sometimes even today we get into issues over keeping rules and regulations. So like what you eat and how you observe holy days. Verse 17 says, these are a shadow of things to come. Yeah, that's very, it lightens it up. Let's put it that way. Yeah. Okay. So even, and you see this in the book of Hebrews very clearly. If you understand the scriptures, the Hebrew scriptures, okay, let me back up and say this. In my younger days, we tried to study the book of Hebrews and I didn't get a bit of it.

17:54 It was like, what, what is this? I don't understand this. Cause it was written to the Jews. That's why there was this controversy who really wrote the book of Hebrews. You know, cause it doesn't follow Paul's, but Paul's not writing to Gentiles, which all the other books of the new Testament that he wrote, it was specifically for, and he's a master of it because, but it doesn't say that he wrote it either. It doesn't say he wrote it. So there's a lot of speculation on who really wrote it. So let's not divide over that either. We're not moving right along. I mean, some folks even think that Priscilla wrote it and, and it doesn't matter. We'll find out when we get to heaven who wrote it.

18:36 It's not important. And again, the point is let's not divide over questions. Let's love one another and tolerate one another. Not that we're loving and tolerating things that will lead to heresy. We don't want anyone to get led off into some kind of cultish stuff. We don't want anybody to get led away into something that's going to be destructive to them. But at the same time, there's a time and a place for bringing correction in love. And there's a time and a place where you just let the Holy Spirit teach.

19:20 This is where prayer is so important, that we pray for one another, that we love one another enough that we let the Holy Spirit lead. Now, let me give you an example. There's a wonderful book that I love. There are some books that I read over and over and a lot of books that I start and never finish. One of the books that I love to read over and over is called The Grace Outpouring by Roy Godwin. It's a story of a Christian retreat in Wales and how God led them, the Holy Spirit led them into doing things in prayer and just obeying the Holy Spirit that created such an atmosphere of the presence of God that people would be driving by and just be drawn to come to the place.

20:11 And they have no idea why they're drawn there. They get there, they say, what is this place? Why would I be drawn here? And Roy Godwin would give them a cup of tea and explain what it was. This is a Christian retreat and then give them a tour and end up in the chapel and then just bless them in the chapel and let the Holy Spirit do his thing. He would just leave. He'd just walk away and let the Holy Spirit do his thing in their lives and change their lives. And even atheists come in and they feel the presence of God and they, he's real. They would say, how do I get to know Jesus? The answer was, the person who brought them there, well, I thought you didn't believe in Jesus.

20:54 And the answer was, well, he's here, isn't he? Because he can feel the presence. Okay. So it's the atmosphere of love, the atmosphere of the presence of God, his presence is love. So in one of these instances, there was this couple that came and the man was so filthy mouthed and telling horrible, dirty stories, one after another, after another, after another, while Roy was giving them this tour around the place. He was so embarrassed, Roy was so embarrassed and so put out. Because there's people around, you know, you think sometimes somebody comes into a room and spoils the atmosphere of the room.

21:41 Right. And this was what Roy was concerned about, that this filth was going to destroy the light that was in the place. However, the Holy Spirit said, don't you dare rebuke him. And it was very strong. So you know, the man's just pouring out this profanity and dirty stories. And when they got to the chapel, the man got on the threshold and fell on his face and said, Oh my God, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were real. I didn't think you were real. Please forgive me. And he just poured out in repentance.

22:21 Because see, if you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, God is going to do things in this outpouring that's beyond our understanding, beyond what we can even dream. So here's one instance of a story where God went beyond what the man could dream. Yeah. And if you think of every story you've heard of how a person got saved supernaturally or this or that, multiply that times what's going to happen. Exponential multiplication. Yeah. It's going to be so powerful. Yes. It's just, I can't wait. Yeah.

23:02 Yeah. But that's why I want to just talk about some of these things that we have divisions over in the body so that we can learn to flow in the Holy Spirit and be tolerant that these are not things we have to solve. We can have differences of opinion. For instance, the word in Colossians, let no man therefore judge you in meat or in drink and respect of a holy day. So here's Shabbat, keeping the Sabbath. So we know that the Sabbath is the seventh day of the week. In Hebrew, you have first day, second day, third day, fourth day, fifth day, sixth day, Shabbat.

23:45 So as such thing as Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, those are actually all named after gods. It's what we have to work with. And Sunday was named after the sun god. And Monday was named after the moon god and so on. Saturday was named after Saturn. So it doesn't compute to someone who's trying to keep the law to call it by those days. And we can get real religious. But it doesn't mean that to us. That's like people say Easter Sunday. Oh, yeah. But Easter is Eshtar, which is the goddess of lust and forget what Phoenician, I think it was.

24:32 And so we say Resurrection Sunday. Happy Resurrection Sunday. Right. Because we don't want to honor or even Happy Resurrection Day. Happy Resurrection Day. So we don't have to say sun. Yeah, yeah. It was the first day of the week. The point here is that we have people that are being moved to stop their congregation meeting on Sunday and go on Saturday or Shabbat. Okay. Call it Shabbat. We're not celebrating Saturday. So there's this contention in the body. But if you go back to the Torah, the only thing that's commanded is that you rest and that you keep this day as separated or holy unto God.

25:19 It's not telling you that you have to go to your congregation on that day because there's nothing in the Old Testament that says that you have to congregate on any day of the week. Oops. Oops. So that is something that came in through rabbinic teaching. Okay, let's just boil this down a little bit. So when the children of Israel were expelled from the land because they had not been keeping the law, they were sentenced to go into Babylon. They didn't let the land rest. That was one of the things. That was one of the things. Yeah. And they were into idolatry and they were into doing stuff that they weren't supposed to do. A whole lot of bad stuff.

26:00 Yeah. So that's a shadow of what happens to us if we don't stay connected to our heavenly father. And you can find all that in Ezekiel. Right. Although there was bad stuff going on. You can read all that in Ezekiel. But here's what happened. In order to maintain their Jewishness or in order to maintain in a foreign land, they began practicing keeping Shabbat by meeting together in congregations in wherever they were. They had to keep it together in order to not be assimilated into among the Gentiles.

26:40 The society. Yeah. Into the society of the Gentiles. So that's when they began having synagogues. The word synagogue is a Greek word. That even comes from when the Greeks were in rulership over the promised land. The Jews had come back. But when they came back under Ezra and Nehemiah, they began becoming really, really strong about keeping the law so this doesn't happen again. And that's where Phariseeism began, as I understand it. 27:22 But as I understand it, Phariseeism began as a result of the deportation into Babylon and coming back and becoming very zealous about keeping the law. But the problem was that they began to be zealous on the outside without having that love for God on the inside. Yeah. Okay. And you know, I remember when Jesus came, the Pharisees and really the Sadducees, too, didn't recognize him because they were busy trying to keep the law on the outside. But Jesus talked about inside their hearts. It's like whitewashed sepulchers, whitewashed tombs. And watching miracles they could not deny on Sabbath and saying that's blasphemy.

28:06 You know, and he would tell them this daughter of Abraham, you know, would not God heal on the Sabbath. On the Sabbath, yeah. And he did it in front of their eyes. And what do they do? They go tell the chief priests. Right. Instead of rejoicing that this lady got healed. We couldn't do that. Right. You know, they tried to kill him. Well, it's also because it was a corrupt priesthood. Yeah. But it required that there be a corrupt priesthood in order that the sacrifice lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world would be sacrificed because of the priesthood. And that's one of these things where it's just like the ways of God are not the ways of man.

28:51 They're higher than our ways. Much higher because we can't see the end. You know, we only see like the here and now. Right. But, you know, God's got the big plan. And if he showed us everything at once, we just mess it up. Probably so. And I think it's in 1 Samuel where Samuel says that man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks on the heart. And that's how we're going to be judged by our hearts, not about how well we kept the law. And this idea of you've got to keep Sabbath on Saturday or Sunday, the seventh day or the first day. You know, the first day of the week was when Jesus rose from the dead.

29:33 So it's okay for us to meet on that day. We're celebrating his resurrection. It's okay for us to meet on Shabbat on the seventh day. Jesus kept Shabbat. He went to their synagogues. He went to their synagogues on that day because that was the tradition that had come up. That's where he's going to teach people. But he also taught them every other day of the week, wherever he went, whatever he did. He went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. Every single day. And if you look in the book of Acts, it says that in Acts 2, 46, it says, so continuing daily with one accord in the temple and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.

30:19 In other words, they met together every single day. Daily. Daily. And Acts 5, 42 says, and daily in the temple and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. They met every single day. So it wasn't a pattern. It doesn't matter what day you meet. If you have your day off as Wednesday and your church has a Wednesday night service, that can be your day that you keep holy unto the Lord. But for heaven's sakes, rest. We don't rest enough. We don't. It's like our founder, you know, she had heard the song earlier, Lord, let me burn out for you.

30:59 Yes, yes. You know, she did burn out and she about she burnt almost us out with her. I remember going on a we were doing a six week road trip in the spring and hardly a break. And the day you didn't have a meeting was the day you drove. Right. You know, it was like a six week continual. Yeah. Minutes. There was no real you didn't have a day off. Really? You might have an afternoon or something. And I remember we got to one place and it was a real prophetic lady. And I thought, I hope she doesn't have a word for me. It's just like I burned the candles so bad at both ends. There's no wax left in the middle. The flame be ready to go out.

31:41 Yeah. But, you know, the point is, God gave us the grace to do it at the time. We were younger, too. We were younger and he gave us the grace to stretch. And so we can still do it today. So when we go in nations today, when we were in Argentina on our last trip, how many meetings did we have? I don't remember. It was a lot. It was a lot of meetings and we didn't have a day of rest there. No. But under the circumstances, it's just like when your ox is in the ditch, you do what you got to do. It's true. Because it's for the kingdom. Right. Exactly. But just to go back to this, you know, what day should we worship? A lot of people quote Hebrews 10 25. And I suggest that everyone should go back and read it in context because it doesn't really in context say what we've made it to say, where it says, do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching, just assemble.

32:41 It doesn't matter what day you assemble, just relationships. It's about maintaining relationships. It's about meeting together and talking about the things of God, studying the word together. Let iron sharpen iron. Just compare scripture with scripture. Let's have the Holy Spirit moving on us. It's not important which day that you observe, whether you observe the feasts. I love the feasts. I'm particularly drawn to Sukkot, the feast of Tabernacles, because that's the one that the Hebrew scriptures say that the Gentiles will participate in. And that's amazing because that's when Jesus was born. Yes, I really think he was born on the first day of Sukkot and that his circumcision would have been on the eighth day, the great day of the feast, Shemini Yatzerit.

33:32 So the point is that let's work together. Let's worship together. Let's open the word together. Let's have home Bible studies any day of the week, but let's don't forsake the assembling of yourselves together any day of the week. Yeah, and many have to break out of the pattern of watching the service online. Yes. You know, unless you have a problem, you don't have a car or you're not able to do it, meet together, you know, because it's not the same online as it is being there. That's true. You can't form a relationship online. Yeah, that's right. I mean, it's scary to me seeing people get married because they met online. Anyway, enough of that.

34:13 I remember we've had one friend of ours that she would call us for prayer, but she loved the messianic teachings of the teachings of this messianic congregation. But when she'd call them for prayer, they would forbid her to call anybody for prayer that met on Sunday. Don't you associate with those Sunday people because they're wrong. Wow. Wow. See, that's that's Phariseeism. Yeah. Yeah, even though they're they're believers in Yeshua. Right. It's still Phariseeism. Right. And and they their teachings tended toward rabbinic teachings as well. So I love the teachings of Nehemiah Gordon.

34:58 We had him on episode 200 and he is a Karaite Jew. He was raised under rabbinic teachings. He came from a long line of rabbis, in fact, but he became a Karaite, which means a scripturalist. They go by the scripture and not by all of those takanot, those added teachings. So you're responsible as you read the scripture to figure it out for yourself. And here's here's a quote from him. Work it out for yourself in fear and trembling with prayer and study before the creator of the universe. This needs to be how we function in settling these issues that are questions that we study and we pray and we work it out before the Lord.

35:47 You work it out until you get that piece of the Holy Spirit inside of you. That piece that passes all understanding, you know, you've got what works for you and not be so trying to sort other people out according to what works for you. You know what I mean? It's not fair. It's not fair to become. It's not right to become the law police. Yeah. OK, it's about learning how to walk in love, being led by the Holy Spirit. Now, what about foods? Yeah, I was just going to ask you, you know, because that's a big that's a big one. And there's a lot of a lot of believers, you know, following the tradition.

36:31 No, I don't eat pork. You know, pork is not a kosher animal. Right. You know, it's and it's not a clean animal. Not clean. Neither is catfish. You know, they the catfish has a has a fat that is harder for the body to digest. Yeah. And the same with pork. Right. Yeah. God told the people not to eat those things because they're really not good for you. So what happened? So you go to Cornelius's house. Yeah. I'm sure they ate a few meals while they were there. Right. So what do you do? Paul gets into this in First Corinthians 10 and he says, if any of you, if any of them, in other words, if you're if you're among Gentiles or actually he's writing to the Corinthians, so they're Gentiles.

37:16 Yeah. If any if any of them that believe not, any of them that believe not bid you to a feast and you be inclined or disposed to go, whatever is set before you eat, asking no questions for conscience sake. But if any man say to you, this is offered in sacrifice to idols. Now that was one of the things in Acts 15 that they said, no, don't eat anything sacrificed to idols and don't eat anything, any blood. Don't eat anything strangled. Yeah. So if any man says to you, this is offered in sacrifice to idols, don't eat it for his sake that showed it. And for conscience sake, for the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof.

37:59 Conscience I say, not your own, but the other for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? If they serve you pork. OK, we've been to China. We've been lots of places where they don't have any kind of laws against that. You go to an island nation, they're going to feed you some seafood. OK, and don't is one of the fastest growing animals that there is. Right. And that's why it's a lot cheaper in the stores. And yeah. And like I remember in Romania, we were there in the wintertime and they slaughter a pig right on the street. And there was this big bloody mess in the snow. You know, we don't do this at home like this.

38:40 No, we sure don't. But I didn't see any cows running around. Right. Well, they had to wait until it was cold enough because they might not have had any refrigeration. That's true. So they do what they have to do. So if you're served these things, don't ask what you're eating. Especially if you're in a nation, it's just mystery meat. You don't want to know what you're eating. Right. So I remember hearing the story of my pastor, Papa Dorn, Robert Dorn, when he went to one of the island nations in the Caribbean. I don't remember just which one it was. And they were invited to attend a feast that was being thrown by a Hindu family.

39:24 I don't know if it was a wedding or if it was some kind of celebration of a Hindu god. I don't know what it was. But they were invited to this feast. And the host comes to him with this honor and says, I'm bringing to you as my honored guest, I'm bringing to you this food that was offered to the idol. These are died in the Hindu's. Okay. And Papa Dorn says, Oh, I'm so sorry. My religion forbids me to eat anything that's been offered to another god. He says, Oh, oh, really? Well, I don't want to offend you. Let me go get some other food for you.

40:04 And this opened the door for Papa Dorn to be able to preach about his religion, preach Jesus to the entire group of people that were there. And I don't remember all about the story, but I'm pretty sure that there were folks that got saved under those circumstances because he refused just according to the scripture. You ask, but if they tell you that it was offered to an idol, you say, no, I can't do that. And what do we do when we when we're in these places? We say, you know, the scripture, if you eat anything deadly, it will not harm you because we speak the blood of Jesus over it.

40:45 Right. So if it is offered to an idol, you know, and you don't know it, but you've covered with the blood of Jesus, that would break any curse that is on it. That's true. Absolutely, it will. Absolutely, it will. So just to wrap this up, you know, there's a time and a place to bring correction. But when you do bring correction, you speak the truth and love and love. And there are times when you simply wait and let the Holy Spirit deal with the person. But we have to walk by the spirit because walking in the spirit has to be our guide. You're not going to learn the ways of God without walking with him.

41:28 And you walk with him and you you study his word and you gain maturity by studying the word and walking with him and listening to him in prayer. Yeah. And even the scripture, I will keep him in perfect peace, perfect shalom, whose mind is stayed on him. So if we can just keep our mind on Jesus and the Holy Spirit. That's big. That's hard to do. Yeah. You know, there's a lot of folks running around talking about church hurt. Oh, yeah. Because they were probably accosted about something that they weren't doing right. And the way that it was handled was not done in love.

42:10 And so they walked away. I love the scripture where Paul is talking about travailing for you until Christ be born in you. Learning the prayer life of the mature ones, bring people into maturity to teach them how to walk with God and being gentle. Right. I'm reminded of folks that we've heard of that came to Jesus and especially like during the Jesus movement back in the early 70s. And they were hippies. Hippies, yeah. And they were smoking pot all the time. And finally, you know, at some point, the Holy Spirit began to convict them that this was not right, that this is not the way we do things.

42:56 You don't get a word from the Lord because you're high. You know, you get the wrong word. You can get some wrong words that way because you're opening yourself up to the spiritual realm when you smoke stuff like that. So drinking like it's not an evil thing to drink a glass of wine with your meal. Sometimes like we were raised that you just simply don't have one drop of alcohol ever. But Paul told Timothy, take a little wine for your stomach sake and you're often infirmities. And Jesus made some pretty good wine. He saved. They saved it till the end. Right. His first miracle. But it does say don't be drunk with wine. Right.

43:37 OK. Don't be filled with the Holy Spirit. There's so much better things that you get by being filled with the Holy Spirit. I think what people get drunk or on marijuana or something like that, when you lose control of your conscience, you know, you're not able to function. That's right. Things can happen. That's when things can go wrong. So and then we know about couples that were living together. OK. So you leave them alone until the Holy Spirit deals with them, unless you get a word from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit might say, OK, now is the time to speak to them.

44:18 It's because the Holy Spirit knows that he's already been dealing with them in their hearts. They just need a confirmation. They need a confirmation. So it's about walking in the spirit. It's about walking in love because love is the fulfilling of the law. And what did Jesus say? I don't condemn you going to go and sin. Go and sin. No, no, no. That's Jesus is our example. So if you got caught by the prophet or something like that, just you know, because it's the Holy Spirit going through them. Yeah, of course, it's better to deal with stuff before you get cornered by a prophet, actually. Very true. You know, very true. But let's get in agreement with the Holy Spirit. Yes, that's it. Because as you walk in the spirit, you're going to be fulfilling the law of love.

45:04 This is all a walk by faith. Amen. So, Father, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we ask you to temper us by your spirit. Lord, cause us to walk with you more closely, walking in love, looking on people in love. Let your love eyes shine through our eyes that will cause your spirit to change lives, Lord, as we interact with people, as you are pouring out your spirit today and tomorrow and the days to come.
