Because, you know, the blood of Jesus is your covering. You know, it's your protection. Right. And it's your salvation. Right. And the blood of Jesus is your passport to heaven. God promises in Joel 2 .28 to pour out his spirit on all humanity. So today we're going to talk about the power that we have for defeating our enemy in the blood of Jesus and with the Holy Spirit. Thanks so much for joining us today. This isn't necromancy. I'm not talking about necromancy where we reach out and try to talk to somebody.

4:08 No, no, no, no, no. That's not from God. That's not legal in God's ways. But the things that she wrote, her legacy continues. And the books that she wrote continue to carry that same anointing. And we can enter into that same anointing that she carried by reading her books and by studying the things that God gave her so that we can. As one of our teachers at our International School of Ministry years ago said, we want you to stand on our shoulders and go higher. And I know that that was Sister Gwen's heart. And of course, that's our heart as well. We want to help the next generation go higher because. you know, this thing just keeps getting bigger and bigger because God keeps creating and he keeps getting greater and keeps becoming more glorious. So today we're going to talk about Gwen Shaw's book, The Power of the Precious Blood, and we have it on our website. It's a wonderful book. It's a book that you can use for your personal study.

5:07 It's a book that you can use if you want to start having Bible studies in your home because there's a need. for training people. There's a need for equipping people. So we're trying to help equip you, and you can help equip others. So, you know, it's going to be all hands on deck as the Holy Spirit is poured out in a greater and greater, greater way all the time. So I just want to bring some information from this book, and we're going to also hit her other book, Ye Shall Receive Power From On High, about the baptism in the Holy Spirit. But we'll start with the power of the precious blood, because that is... is key. It's absolutely key to overcoming and getting into that place where we're able to defeat our enemies. It's our foundation. Absolutely. Absolutely.

5:54 So Sister Gwen had this experience when she was a missionary in Hong Kong that gave her a greater understanding of the blood of Jesus and the power of the blood of Jesus. She had a dream one night. And in her dream, she saw Satan appear to her. And he said to her with this cunning sneer, I have power to harm you. And of course, she sensed that he was challenging her to go to war with him. And she knew that she didn't want to do it. And then she answered him, I know you have power to do me much harm, but you are afraid of the blood. And immediately he answered, I'm not afraid of the blood of bulls and goats. And she said, you know, she was stopped for just a moment. And then the Holy Spirit prompted her.

6:54 No, but you are afraid of the blood of Jesus Christ. And immediately he began to shake and tremble. And he said, yes, of that I am afraid. And right in front of her eyes, he began to shrivel up and get smaller and smaller and smaller. But she. was awakened with fear. You know, she was kind of frozen from that because that's one of the devil's tactics. He works with fear. He's busy trying to keep us afraid of him because he can overrule us if we have fear. God did not design us to work with fear. He designed us for love. So anytime we're experiencing fear, we're being attacked. by the enemy of our souls. I mean, there is a godly fear of God. You know, there's a righteous reverence of God, but that's the only fear that we should have. And it's not the same kind of a fear. So she understood that she was about to be attacked and that the blood of Jesus was going to be the key to the deliverance that she needed in the situation. And so she got out of her bed and got on her knees and began to pray. And a couple of hours later, one of the missionary sisters that she knew came to visit her and she told her the dream. And this sister said, Sister Gwen, you will be attacked by Satan in a very powerful way. But when it happens, remember God has given you the key.

8:27 Plead the blood of Jesus and God will give you the victory. And she knew this was a confirmation. So a couple of hours later, she left the kids in charge of a Chinese sister that was there. And she went out into the country to preach. And she had two meetings that she had to do. When she came back, she found out that almost immediately when she left, that the youngest boy, Tommy, was attacked with a fever. He was in bed and groaning with the fever. And she went to him and she began to plead the blood, plead the blood, asking Jesus to cover Tommy with his precious blood. And then she let him. sleep with her and and all night long he's groaning with the fever and so that the next day there was no improvement and the next day there was no improvement and then on the next day his temperature was down but he got out of bed and he was all crooked and he couldn't straighten up and so sister gwen was was concerned about this and she heard in her head this Nasty voice saying, meningitis, meningitis. I've given him meningitis.

9:39 And all of your pleading with the blood, pleading of the blood couldn't help anything. And then the next day, a Chinese sister came and saw this situation and got down and prayed. She said, Lord, I'm a mother and I have children. I know how this mother's heart is broken to see her son sick. I beseech you, heal Tommy. When he wakes up tomorrow morning, let him be well. And in that moment, Sister Gwen knew that the prayer had gotten through. It had gotten through. She knew that the answer was on the way. When he woke up the next morning, he was completely well. So, you know, this was her first real strong lesson in what it means to use the blood of Jesus Christ. We call it pleading the blood. So what does pleading the blood really mean? Well, in a court of law, they're going to bring evidence against you, but they say you're innocent unless you're proven guilty. Right. And so, but you have the legal right to present your case, and that's usually with an attorney. Right. Yeah.

10:45 And how do you plead? It says, well, you either plead guilty or non -guilty. Right. So when you're in a court of law, so you're either going to plead guilty or not guilty. But in God's court. You can plead the blood. You plead the blood. Like you can plead the Fifth Amendment, right? Like the Fifth Amendment lets you not incriminate yourself. You don't have to give evidence out of your own mouth that incriminates you. So you can plead the Fifth Amendment. So this is another way of bringing something to the court that will be different than a plea of guilty or not guilty. And with the blood of Jesus, there's no jury. Yeah, that's true. There's no jury that's going to decide. Once you receive Jesus and you have the blood of Jesus Christ, so what have you been forgiven of? You know, you have all your sins.

11:37 Yeah. Because, you know, the blood of Jesus is your covering. You know, it's your protection. Right. And it's your salvation. Right. And the blood of Jesus is your passport to heaven. Absolutely. You know, you can't go into another nation. You know, well, it used to be you could go to Canada, we could cross the bridge, Niagara Falls, pay 10 cents, show your ID, and you're in. But because of what happened. That was back in the day. Back ways back. But now you have to have, you know. passport and everything and and has your picture and all your and it can expire you know and you if you're overseas you have you know you can't travel into another nation if your passport's going to expire within so many months right so you have to have it but the blood of jesus never expires right it's always there for you And even when the devil just comes at you like he did to Job, you know, he didn't have the blood of Jesus because that sacrifice had not happened yet. Right. But he found that he was innocent.

12:39 He cried out to God, you know, and, you know, woe is me. Why is this? You know, curse it be the day I was born. Right. Because he's in so much agony and pain. But he loved God and he never lost his faith in God. And he was vindicated and given back more than double of what he had. It's true. But what he went through. Yeah. And we have to go through stuff a lot of times, sicknesses, things like that. But it's the blood of Jesus that gets you through. Right. You have to stand on it. You stand on the blood. It's a place to stand. And we do that. And we've mentioned this before. When we get on an airplane, any vehicle we get into, I don't care who's driving. I put my hand somewhere and I'll just pray over this car. Lord, I thank you for your precious blood.

13:27 And I just speak full covering. Full assurance over this car. Keep us from any accidents, incidents, close calls. Amen. And we do that. We get on an airplane, any mode of transportation. We speak the blood of Jesus over that. Amen. We speak the blood of Jesus over our luggage. All right. Now, we've been traveling overseas for 40... Something about 40 some years plus. And we've never lost our suitcases. I mean, they came back after a few days. You know, we've had our traveled with our guitars. We just speak the blood of Jesus because this is for the kingdom of God. And our guitars would be there on the other end. We've never had one damaged. And so God has been so good. But we don't travel with guitars anymore.

14:12 Yeah. You know, things have changed now. Yeah. But the power of the blood, it's the strongest force of the universe. Amen. It's because it's life -giving. Yes. Life -giving. And one of the things, it has the power to deliver us from the sentence of death. True. Because there's life in the blood. That's right. And your own body, when you read that in Genesis, I think it is, isn't it? The life is in the blood. Because when Cain killed Abel, And the Lord came and spoke to him. He says, where's your brother? He says, well, I don't know. I'm not my brother's keeper. And he says, your brother's blood cries unto me from the ground. That's right. Your blood has a voice. Your blood has a voice. And Henry Groover, many of you have heard of him, and he's a real seer, and he hears from God. And he could go down the street and he can tell where there's an abortion clinic. Yeah. Because he could hear the blood crying out in the sewer system. It's true. There's, you know, the spirit is in the blood. Your life is in the blood. Absolutely.

15:12 Wow. And so the blood of Jesus speaks better things than that of Abel. And so Abel's blood is crying out for. retribution. It's crying out, I've been murdered. Do something. I'm dead. But Jesus' blood is crying out for mercy because he said from the cross, Father, forgive them. They know not what they do. So when he shed his blood, his blood was crying for mercy rather than crying for retribution. Yeah. And even in the Scriptures, when God was giving the law, he forbid the children of Israel to drink blood. Right. Because, you know, the life is in the blood. Exactly. Exactly. So if you go through the Scriptures, you'll find that there are many covenants that God made with his children. And, you know, with Adam, God... covered them with skins. There's different ways of looking at it, but one of the ways is that he would have shed the blood of some animal to give skins for them to wear. So that would be the first covenant that was with blood. And then, of course, Abel's sacrifice was a sacrifice of blood, and Cain's wasn't. But there's also the idea that Abel offered it with faith. where Cain didn't. I think that's very clear in the book of Hebrews. Anyway, moving on, we have Noah, you know, when God promised

16:43 that there would be no more flooding and he put the rainbow in the clouds, there was a blood sacrifice to make that covenant. So that's why they took seven of all of the clean animals so that they'd have something to sacrifice. Sacrifice on the other end. Yeah. And then Abraham's covenant, you know, that there was that. time when Abraham's saying, you know, how am I going to know that you're actually going to give me a son? Because it looks like my servant is going to be my heir. And so God had him cut up these animals, and he passed through them. He caused a deep sleep to come on Abraham. He was making it clear that I'm going to see to this covenant, and you don't even have to. I'm making this covenant with you.

17:30 This is your sign. And he came through it like a smoking, flaming furnace and made that covenant with Abraham to give him and his descendants the land that Israel has come back to. So then we have the Mosaic covenant. And that's where God instructed them to make sacrifices in a tabernacle. So that was picturing for us. The requirement that when we have sin, it requires blood to bring forgiveness. So it was a picture of what we should expect. to happen in the new covenant where Jesus laid down his life and shed his blood. Once for all. Once for all. Once for all. Hallelujah.

18:24 The final sacrifice. Yeah. And even prior to that, in order for them to get out of Egypt, remember there were 10 plagues, and the last plague was the worst. The death of the firstborn. And in order for the children of Israel to not lose their firstborn, they had to kill a Passover lamb. And it could be either a lamb from the sheep or a kid from the goats. And that was a blood sacrifice where they put the blood on the doorpost. And that is absolutely a picture of what Jesus did for us to cause the death angel to pass over us. And there's different ways to look at that. You can look at it that the death angel had to pass over the house and not strike.

19:14 And you can also look at it that God passed over that house to overshadow them. and protect them from the destroyer. Yeah. Maybe you're in a dangerous place in another country and you just speak the blood over your hotel room. Yes. You know, over the car you're in. Yes. You know, over the doors, the windows, that there's nothing demonic is going to come in. And if there's something in there, you need to go out. Yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely. And, you know, we're not going through the entire book that Sister Gwen wrote. So you may want to go and order this. Yeah, we're just taking some pieces. Yeah, we're taking some highlights. So this is just to whet your appetite for more.

19:58 And one of the things that I love in chapter seven is talking about the sprinkled blood. And in Leviticus 5 .9, Moses is given the instructions to sprinkle the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar. It's a sin offering. And talking about in Leviticus 5 .10, about the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin, which he sinned and forgiven him. And the blood on the altar of the sacrifice was for the forgiveness of the sinner. So there's this point in time where even when they're dedicating the whole tabernacle, there is this the sprinkling of the blood that is done to dedicate, to dedicate everything to God, to make it so that he is the owner, okay? It's dedicating it to him. So I was really excited to learn when we interviewed Dean Braxton some time ago, and he described for us what he saw. When he was in heaven, he was transported to see Jesus on the cross, and he saw that Jesus had been shredded, just so mangled that you could hardly recognize that he was a man and that he was even human. And it reminded me of what is written in Isaiah 52, just prior to Isaiah 53, where, in case you don't

21:28 know, Isaiah 53 describes Jesus as the suffering servant, as the one who would redeem us and set us free from sickness and grief and sorrow and iniquity and all those things. But it says in Isaiah 52, verse 14, it says, as many were astonished at you, his visage was so marred, so beaten up, so pulped. I don't know that that's a word, but pulpy. Anyway, he was beaten to a pulp is what I'm trying to say. He was so marred more than any man in his form, more than the sons of men. So what Dean described reminded me of this scripture, but the next scripture is very important too.

22:11 We've shared this before, but it absolutely bears repeating. Verse 15 says, so shall he sprinkle many nations. The kings shall shut their mouths at him, for that which had not been told them shall they see, and that which they had not heard shall they consider. And this word in The word kings in the Hebrew can mean kings like, you know, kings of nations, but it can also mean demonic kings. Oh, and the other thing that Dean said about what he saw was that every time Jesus' heart would beat, he had been so lacerated that the arteries had been pierced just enough that whenever his heart would beat, there would be the spray of the blood sprinkling. It was like a spray. Every time his heart would pump, it was spraying out. And so it was literally sprinkling for our transgressions, for our iniquities. And what I see here is that. The kings, the demonic kings, had shut their mouths. Up to that point, they thought they had won, that they had defeated this so -called king of glory, their enemy. And they thought they were just rejoicing with glee at how they had mutilated him, not realizing that that was for their demise. Had they not known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Had they realized it, they would not

23:44 have crucified him. So it's like they shut their mouths. It was like, uh -oh, we're in trouble now. Because it hadn't been told them what was going to happen. That was one of God's secrets. You've got to know how to keep God's secrets. And it was one of those things that was hidden from the foundation of time. that this would be their demise. And it was even prophesied in Genesis chapter 3, I think it is, where it was talking about the seed of the woman would crush the head of the serpent, but the serpent would bruise his heel. And that was exactly what happened on the cross. So this sprinkling is something that is so clear that is for our deliverance from iniquity. So that's one more way of defeating our enemy with the power of the blood of Jesus.

24:40 And then we have the cup. When we take communion. Yes. And taking communion with the body and the blood, it's reminding what Jesus did, the Passover lamb. You know, as Jesus is called the Passover lamb. Yes. And the blood of forgiveness of sins. And many churches, you know, they will maybe take communion once a month. Yeah. Some don't, you know. But, you know, we try to every day if we can. Yeah. You know, just the cleansing of the blood of Jesus Christ, taking his body, just when he's in the upper room, he said, this is my body which is broken for you. You know, they were actually doing the Passover Seder, and they were on the third cup. It's the cup of redemption. Yes. And that's when, if you've ever done a Seder or you studied it, That's the cup of redemption. And he was speaking of himself.

25:35 Yes. That, you know, I am the redemption. I am the word of life. And this do in remembrance of me. Yes. So this wasn't something he did just then. He was a sacrifice once and for all. But as a reminder that we take communion. And many, they just, they don't know the power of it. Right. They don't understand how holy it is. It's just like you have to be holy and pure. Otherwise, you can, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11, 29, he that eats and drinks unworthily means if you're not pure when you take communion, you're eating and drinking damnation or condemnation or judgment to yourself. You know, it seems there is no excuse for ignorance. Right. So when we take communion, it's a holy thing. It has to be treated as such.

26:28 It's not something that you just do because it's a habit. Right. Which happens, you know. Yeah. Do you have to be pure and holy taking communion? In order for you to use the power and authority of the blood of Jesus Christ, you have to be clean yourself. Absolutely. You have to be clean in order to, or it will not work for you. It will not go good for you. Yeah. And I remember when we interviewed Shirley Smith, when she was giving her testimony of how she fought cancer. Yeah. And when she came here, Sister Gwen set her up so that she could have communion every day. And having communion every day was something she was afraid of. Because she knew that this was really a critical thing, and she was afraid to have communion because she didn't think she was pure enough. And the Lord made it clear to her that the communion is also for helping you to overcome. Yeah. So we'll put a link in the show notes to that. interview, because it was so powerful, and God used the communion to bring healing to her. And one of the things, too, about that cup is that Jesus said, this cup is the new covenant in my blood. Okay? Remember, we said earlier that covenant is done by the shedding of blood. You have shedding of blood. in most covenants, not all, but most covenants. There's a shedding of blood. So Jesus is saying, this

27:59 cup is the new covenant in my blood. And so if you go back to Jeremiah, where Jeremiah 31, where it's describing the new covenant. And verse 31 says, I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, with the house of Judah. And there's four things that come with this new covenant. The first one is I will put my law in their inward parts and write it in their hearts. And I will be there. That's the second thing. I will be their God and they shall be my people. They shall teach no more every man his neighbor. saying, know the Lord, for they shall all know me from the least of them to the greatest of them. They're going to know him. Everybody in the hold of Israel and Judah, it's promised that they're going to know him. Okay. And then the fourth thing is because I will forgive their iniquity and remember their sin no more. So if he's saying this cup is the new covenant, the reason why he won't remember their iniquity against them is because of the blood of Jesus. Okay? So it's important that, especially when we have sinned, to come to the communion table and say, Lord, I'm so sorry. Cover me with your blood. Cover me. Forgive me. See this blood. Hear this cry for mercy from this cup. for my sins, Lord, to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me and set me free and destroy this power of the enemy that's in my life. So

29:32 it's huge. The Holy Communion is huge. And I just want to kind of wrap up this particular study here. Did you want to cover those review things? Yeah. And I've taken this out of the book. You know, in Hebrews 13, 20, 21, the blood of Jesus makes us perfect in every good work to do his will. Amen. In 1 John 1 .7, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. Ephesians 2 .13, we are made night of God by the blood of Jesus Christ. Amen. We can approach him because of the blood. Yes. 1 Peter 1 .18, we are redeemed with the precious blood of Jesus. Yes. Romans 5 .9, we are justified by the blood of Jesus.

30:17 See all the legal terms we can use in here? Yeah. Hebrews 13 .12, we are sanctified by the blood of Jesus. Yes. Ephesians 1 .7, we have redemption through the blood of Jesus. Yes. Colossians 1 .20, we are reconciled through the blood of Jesus. Revelation 1 .5, we are washed from our sins by the blood of Jesus. Amen. So we can understand why Satan hates the blood of Jesus, because it's what defeats him. Absolutely. And that wraps us up by taking us to Revelation chapter 12 and verses 10 and 11. It says, the accuser of the brethren is cast down. which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony. And they loved not their lives unto the death. So our overcoming and the verse right before that spells out who is the accuser of the brethren. Let's just look at that for a second so that nobody has any question as to who we're dealing with, because our enemy is Satan. Right.

31:25 But in Revelation chapter 12, you know, if you start with verse seven, it says there was war in heaven and Michael and his angels fought with the devil and his angels, the dragon and his angels. And they prevailed not. The dragon prevailed not. Neither was their place found anymore in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out. So here's his names. The great dragon, that old serpent called the devil. and Satan, which deceives the whole world. Okay, there's five clear descriptions of who our enemy is, because he's really God's enemy. And because he's God's enemy, he's our enemy, because we're made in the image of God.

32:07 And he's made us to work with him. God made us to work with him, to function with him, to overcome and defeat this enemy. So we defeat him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony. We love not our lives unto death because we're already dead in him. We're dead in him and our life is hid with Christ in God. So it's because of the blood of Jesus. You know, he allowed himself to be opened up to make room for us to come in and to be a part of him, to be a part of his body. So it's the blood that makes us close to him. And we just want to encourage you to press in and receive the grace that comes by working with the blood of Jesus Christ as a weapon, a powerful weapon of warfare. It's not just a tool.

33:02 It's a weapon. It's a weapon. Hallelujah. So we also want to. talk about the mighty power that we have in the power of the Holy Spirit. So we've talked other times about receiving the power of the Holy Spirit, but we've talked about Pentecost several times. But this book that Sister Gwen Shaw wrote is A Bible Study in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. If you've been listening and you're still not filled with the Holy Spirit, it would be good for you to get this book and help to understand it, and also to give you a tool to teach it, because we desperately need to be filled with the Holy Spirit in these days, because it's all about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, this global outpouring that we're talking about. We want to see God pour out His Spirit. All flesh. And this title, this is when Jesus is with his disciples. He was crucified, rose from the dead, resurrected. And he said, but tarry ye in Jerusalem. I mean, they wanted to get out of Jerusalem, I think, you know, the quickest way you can. But he says, tarry in Jerusalem until you be endued with power. from on high.

34:21 Yes. And this is what he's referring to. And that's what this book is about for you to experience the Holy Spirit, where you can be endued with this power. Because Jesus says, when I leave, I will not leave you comfortless. I will send the comforter, which is the Holy Spirit. That's right. And it's part of the Trinity, Father, Son, Holy Spirit. Right. The Spirit of God, the Ruach of God, the breath of God. Yes. Which becomes in us. It's there and it's available to us, but you have to let it take control because we have this fleshly nature, our carnal mind, you know, because it works through our spirit. We have to let our spirit, because our spirit is in total obedience with what God wants to do because your spirit came from God. But it's this flesh nature that we have, our mind, our intellect, that gets in the way of everything God wants to do through us. Very true. And it's learning how to put that under your feet and let the spirit man arise in you. And believe me, that's one of the hardest things you'll ever do. But it's worth it. But it's worth it, yes. Absolutely. Because the more you do. that, the more you can hear from God, the more He'll orchestrate your day. That's true.

35:35 That's true. And the more He'll use you. Yeah. And that's what this is all about. We're trying to help you get equipped. Yeah. And when you let the Holy Spirit use you, it's like in the morning, we have our prayer time. And I can just tell when I've had that, you know, just good time, Holy Spirit. I have to go to town. Things just fall into place. Yes. And even just the other day, we have a crew down here cutting wood. They're the power line people. They're clearing everything out 20 feet either side of a power line, any trees and their stuff down. And there's some stuff that had to have attention. I thought, how am I going to find the right guy just to do that? And all of a sudden, here comes the truck. down the hill, just the person I need to talk to. Thank you, Holy Spirit. You know, he's just so good, saving me a lot of step trying to find. And that's what he'll do. He'll orchestrate your day for you and make things just flow a whole lot better. Absolutely. If we keep connecting with him. That's true. That's true. And there's continuous depths. of of relationship with the holy spirit and continuous i like to think of it in in terms of continuous surrenders where the more we surrender the more we sink down from our fleshly stand yeah and let let the holy spirit stand up on the inside of us instead of our flesh you know and and that makes such a difference because just think back about I keep referring

37:06 to Dean Braxton, but, you know, the experiences that he has had have really helped me to develop in the Spirit. And when he talks about how looking at the Father or looking at Jesus and just being overwhelmed with the glory of looking at him or them, you know, that the glory is just so amazing and the majesty and the love and all of these things. And then he'd look again and it was more so. And then he'd get overwhelmed and he'd look again and it was more so. So God is continuously growing, shall I say. There's just continuous, continuous creation of love, continuous creation of light and life. And so the Holy Spirit wants to do that inside of us.

37:55 and draw us deeper and draw us closer and help us to grow up and leave behind the childish things. You know, there's so many things that... that happen to us as children that can stunt our growth emotionally or stunt our growth mentally, that we just get stuck. And when we get under pressure, you know, whatever happened at the age of 7 or 2 or 8 or 10, it causes your maturing process to get stuck at that age so that if you get under pressure, you start behaving like that 7 -year -old or that 2 -year -old or that 10 -year -old or whatever. And so the Holy Spirit is here to help us grow. And in the Old Testament, it says the Spirit of God came upon people. Oh, yes.

38:42 We talked about that recently. Yeah, in the book of Judges. It came upon Samson. It came upon Gideon. And he blew a trumpet and gathered the army. Midianites. Midianites. Yeah, it was the Midianites because the Holy Spirit came upon them, came upon Samson. Samson was not what you call a righteous man, you know. Yeah. And in the end, it got him. But the Holy Spirit would come on him, this normal looking guy, supernatural power that could rip the gates off a city, which who knows how heavy that was, and carry it to the next town. Wow. You know, that's supernatural. But now we have the Holy Spirit within us. And when it was poured out on the Temple Mount and the Book of Acts, they're in the synagogue all that night. They're celebrating the giving of the law. That's what it is. What happened on Mount Sinai with Moses and the mountain shook and the fire and flames. And so that's what they're celebrating, the giving of the law, the fire of God. And that's what happened in the book of Acts. You know, when they were all night and in the morning, they go to the temple. Yeah.

39:55 And it was up on that temple mount because when you study the scriptures. when it talks about upper room and the house, it's not the same place. So it wasn't like the Holy Ghost came down in the upper room, they all run out and 3 ,000 people got saved. How does that happen? But when they're on the Temple Mount and everybody sees the fire come down and not a little flame on their head, I mean, they was probably a couple feet tall. And people just, and then everything happened. And so the Holy Spirit came in. And you have Peter who denied the Lord 50 days earlier. Yeah. totally just thought he totally messed everything up. And all of a sudden he preaches his first sermon because the Holy Spirit kind of had quickened him to scriptures because they didn't go to, he was a fisherman. He didn't go to Torah school and the Holy Ghost just gave him everything he needed. And 3000 people got converted. I mean, that's the power of the Holy Spirit. That's right.

40:59 And that's how he wants to move in you. That's true. And you had mentioned before we were. speaking about the Holy Spirit. And a brother from Indonesia was listening to our podcast, writing his cycle on the way to work at an attorney's office. And he starts speaking in tongues on the way. Holy Ghost filled him on his motorcycle on the way to work. And Sharon's dad, you know, he was praying for the Holy Spirit. And in the middle of the night, Holy Spirit comes on and he just starts speaking in tongues. Yeah, he woke himself up. Because he sought it for months and months and didn't get it, didn't get it. All of a sudden, one night, it happened in a dream. Can I just share this? Before Jesus was crucified, he's in the upper room with the disciples, and they've probably already had their communion. And he's given them this little sermon, this kind of last words of encouragement. And he talks to them about what the Holy Spirit is going to do. The book of John really gives a lot of information about that. In John 14, 16 and 17, it says, I will pray the Father and he shall give you another comforter that he may abide with you forever, even the spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it sees him not, neither knows him. But you know him for he dwells with you and shall be in you. So this is the first promise that they get, this first inkling that. the Holy Spirit's going to come into them. I don't think

42:31 they knew how to process that. But when it happened, they got it. Yeah, they understood. And then then in verse 26, it says, but the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I've said unto you. And that is so important. As we study the Holy Scriptures, the Holy Spirit who breathed them, inspiring the writers in the first place, will bring them back to us. you're in a situation where you need to have a word from the Lord. Many, many times for me, it comes up in my spirit as a scripture. Like I get a phrase from a scripture and I go back to my Bible to find out what's the rest of the verse or what's the context. And it always... turns out to be something that I needed. So he's going to do that for us. And then in John 15, 26, it says, but when the Comforter has come, whom I will send to you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me. So this is a promise that the Holy Spirit is going to help us to understand more about the ministry of Jesus. and what he did and how he wants to do that in our lives and use us the same. And then in John 16, 7 and 8, nevertheless, I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I go away. For if I go

44:03 not away, the Comforter will not come unto you. But if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he has come, he will reprove the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment. So this idea of of reproving the world of sin is, I think this is so key. And I think this is part of what we need to be considering as we are looking for the weapons of warfare to deal with our enemy. that we understand the importance of flowing with the Holy Spirit and not just trying to do things on our own, but letting the Holy Spirit use us instead of us using him. You understand the difference? You know, it's important that we get in sync with him, that we get flowing with him so that whatever he's trying to get us to do, that we'll do it. And when we do what he says to do, we're going to see. results. So this idea of convicting the world of sin, when we're in intercession, we're asking the Holy Spirit to bring conviction on people. And we talked to... few episodes back about remitting sins or forgiving sins, that we can pray prayers where we're asking our Father to see the blood of Jesus and hear his cry for mercy over people who need intercession, the people who need to

45:33 get saved. So we can remit their sins. We can pray for the blood of Jesus to cover their minds and cleanse their minds and deliver them from the things that are keeping them from flowing with the Holy Spirit and bring the conviction of sin so that they'll repent. You know, if we ask God to forgive, we're not saying that that takes the place of them repenting, but it removes the judgment over them so that they can repent. And I just think that's such an important part of our intercession, which we talked about, I think, in our last episode about intercession. Yeah, because the title of this book, Ye Shall Receive Power From On High, that comes from Acts 1 .8, but ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you. And ye shall be witnesses unto me, both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, into the outermost part of the earth. Amen. You know, that is our blast -off point. Exactly, exactly. And he spoke to them in Luke 24 -49 and said, Behold, I send the promise of the Father upon you, but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you be endued with power from on high. So it just goes together with that. So it's a promise. And the other thing that he said in John 16 that I forgot to mention was that verse 13 and 14, it says, How be it when he, the spirit of truth, is come, he will

47:04 guide you into all truth. For he shall not speak of himself, but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak, and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me for he shall receive of mine and shall show it to you. And so we need that in all of our walk, everything that we do every day, all day long, we need him to guide us and help us to be in the right place at the right time with the right words. And there was four instances in the New Testament of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Yes. The first was, you know, in the book of Acts, chapter 2, we're all familiar with. And there was a second outpouring. This is after the crippled man was healed at the gate of the temple. And Peter, John, they're being arrested, you know, interrogated. And they were commanded, don't you preach anymore in this name.

48:03 Yeah. They were released. And they went back to their own company, and this really inspired a prayer meeting. And so they're in this meeting in Acts 4 .31. And when they prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together, and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. See, they were filled with the Holy Ghost before, but this is a continual thing. Right. It keeps getting bigger. Yeah, you keep getting filled, and God just gave them a new boldness. The third time that is mentioned is in the book of Acts, chapter 8, starts in 17. And this is Peter when he's up on the rooftop, and he's just praying, and he has a vision of the sheep coming down and all these unclean animals. And the Lord says, arise, Peter. You need to kill these and learn how to eat these. Lord, they're unclean. But three times he had this vision, and then all of a sudden somebody comes to the door and says, your appearance is requested to come in the house of Cornelius. Yes. Now, Cornelius being a centurion, a Roman centurion. A Gentile. A Gentile, which means you better come because he's a Roman centurion.

49:24 And if you don't come, he can maybe take your head off because you did not obey him. Not that he would have, but. Not that he would. So Peter's scratching his head. And he said, there's people coming to the door. You go with them, doubting nothing. Yes. So he goes to the house of Cornelius. And you know the story. We've told this before. And while he's talking to them about Jesus, all of a sudden, all the household there, you know, and there's those that probably didn't want to be there because this is part of family, mom and dad. boss says okay you gotta be here for this they all get filled with the holy spirit yeah they did they don't know what it is right and all of a sudden they're all speaking in the holy ghost yeah and and it was a good thing it wasn't just peter yeah he had his company there and so so they're witnesses of all this going on and presented it to the council when they went to damascus and you know to jerusalem to jerusalem rather and they got together with a council and that's where I says, well, that means the Holy Spirit is for the Gentiles, too. Yeah.

50:29 The salvation is them, too. It's just not for us. Yes. Because Jesus said, you go to Judea, Samaria. Now, the Samaritans, you know, they're like half and half. There's Jewish blood there, but it's intermingled. And they don't go up to the Jerusalem to worship. They have their own place. Right. And they're despised by the Jews, the Samaritans are. But he says, you go to Samaria. The uttermost parts of the earth. Right. I mean, there's Jews to the uttermost parts of the earth. There are now. But even when Paul went first, he would go to the Jew first. Then he would go to the Greek or to the Gentile. Right. And that was his pattern. And the Holy Spirit used him wherever he went. And the Holy Spirit will use you wherever you go. Amen. Wherever you go, just to speak a word, it might be just a couple words, an encouragement to somebody. You might have a little window of time. God gives you a Kairos moment where you can just speak into their lives and change their life around, give them direction.

51:30 It's just be obedient to him, and he'll just kind of set your course. Absolutely. Absolutely. And I love this, the scripture that Peter used when he was in Cornelius's house. And he talks about in Acts 10, verse 36, the word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ. He is Lord of all. He says this to these Gentiles. That word, I say, you know. which was published throughout all Judea and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached. So Cornelius must have been there for a while. He knew what was going on. He had been there through the ministry of Jesus. He had heard about it, I'm sure. And in verse 38, how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him. Yes. And I love the fact that he talks about how Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit. And we need to catch that, that that was the thing. The word Christ means the anointed one. So he wasn't anointed with oil.

52:45 He was anointed with the Holy Spirit. And what are we called? We're called Christians. Christ. Yeah. little, little versions of Christ, okay? We're like, could we say the descendants of Christ? We're part of his body, okay? We're part of the body of Christ. So this anointing of the Holy Spirit is what makes us living. stones, okay, the stones in the temple and living cells in the body of Jesus. So we are also anointed with the Holy Spirit. Now remember when Jesus was baptized by John, he was not only baptized in water, but the Holy Spirit came down on him and remained on him like a dove. And we've talked about this recently, but as the Holy Spirit came upon him, I'm picturing it like a dove fluttering over her babies. And that's one of the words that's used where it talks about how the Holy Spirit was fluttering over, brooding over the waters at the very beginning when the earth was without form and void. And God just hovered over it and imparted life to it. So when we are baptized

54:18 in the Holy Spirit, there's a hovering of the Holy Spirit over us. And he comes into us. And he comes into us to... empower us, to empower us, to give us the grace to obey him, to give us the grace to let his character be formed in us. Okay. That's what the fruit of the Holy Spirit is about. And so many times, especially in the Pentecostal move and the charismatic move, we've had such a focus on the power gifts and the gifts. And the gifts are amazing. The gifts are meant to help us get the point across and bring in the kingdom, right? So there's this gifting, but it's to be balanced with the anointing of the... maturity of the character of Christ, where we're walking not only in his power to do things, but in his power to be, to be like him. We are human beings, not human doings. We talked about that fairly recently as well, that we are to be like him, that his fruit. of love and joy and peace and patience is being manifested in us and his faith, the faith to do the things that he's called us to do so that we will walk in his ways and as he's using us. See, so one

55:52 of the problems that we're having in the body of Christ these days is people who are operating in the gifts without the character. And that's what's turned people off. So God is calling us to let that Holy Spirit anointing bring us into a likeness that it can be seen on us, that his anointing is flowing in us, his anointing is working in us. And that when we bring a word, that it'll be a word of power when we lay hands on the sick, that they shall recover. He promises that. But it's from the Holy Spirit. It's that anointing of the Holy Spirit that came on Jesus.

56:36 He didn't heal anybody until he was anointed with the Holy Spirit. And every believer, every believer, every believer, to become a believer, it has to have the Holy Spirit working in them. But there's that baptism in the Holy Spirit that gives you the more so, where you can continue to grow. And you can continue to be anointed and you can continue to receive power from on high on a regular daily basis. Amen.
