Setting Captives Free, episode 79
Often it has seemed like my (working hard to not be a) prodigal is under a curse.
Actually, I think he is.
Bad things happened to him in his first years. Later most of the bad things in his life were his own bad choices. He still experiences consequences from those bad choices.
But then he sought to turn his life around. Yet it seemed that every day something happened to distract or detour or depress him.

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:10,000
If you love a prodigal, you can discover help and hope for your wilderness journey right here at When You Love a Prodigal,
2
00:00:10,000 --> 00:00:15,000
and even help and hope for your own life journey.
3
00:00:15,000 --> 00:00:21,000
I hope you enjoyed the wisdom from Mary DeMuth in last week's episode,
4
00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:31,000
and that her book, Love, Pray, Listen, will bless you and help you with the adult prodigals in your life.
5
00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:38,000
As we consider the strongholds in the lives of our loved ones, and perhaps ourselves,
6
00:00:38,000 --> 00:00:45,000
today, as we look at setting captives free, sometimes the captive is us.
7
00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:49,000
Often the captive is our loved prodigal.
8
00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:57,000
Be sure to note any verses or any ideas that give you hope that there can be freedom.
9
00:00:57,000 --> 00:01:07,000
Often in the 15-year journey with our prodigal, it seemed like even when he was working hard to not be a prodigal,
10
00:01:07,000 --> 00:01:10,000
that he was under a curse.
11
00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:21,000
Actually, I think he was, probably is, because the evil one is still mad that he came to Jesus.
12
00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:25,000
Lots of bad things happened to him in his first years.
13
00:01:25,000 --> 00:01:32,000
As he got older, most of the bad things in his life were due to his own bad choices.
14
00:01:32,000 --> 00:01:39,000
And yes, he still experiences consequences from those bad choices.
15
00:01:39,000 --> 00:01:48,000
I am sure some of his difficulty in finding a job has been because of those choices.
16
00:01:48,000 --> 00:01:51,000
But then he sought to turn his life around.
17
00:01:51,000 --> 00:01:56,000
He was desiring to make good choices and move toward a different way of life.
18
00:01:56,000 --> 00:02:04,000
Yet it seemed that every day something happened to distract or detour or depress him.
19
00:02:04,000 --> 00:02:11,000
Once he was wrestling with a friend at a bachelor party that resulted in a severe sternum contusion
20
00:02:11,000 --> 00:02:17,000
that was so painful for weeks that he could barely move.
21
00:02:17,000 --> 00:02:25,000
There was a job he got that would earn so little that he couldn't afford the gas to get to it.
22
00:02:25,000 --> 00:02:27,000
His dogs, he loves dogs.
23
00:02:27,000 --> 00:02:30,000
His dogs got out of the yard again.
24
00:02:30,000 --> 00:02:38,000
A neighbor reported it again and animal services slapped him with a huge fine.
25
00:02:38,000 --> 00:02:43,000
His beloved grandfather was not in good health.
26
00:02:43,000 --> 00:02:45,000
I could go on.
27
00:02:45,000 --> 00:02:47,000
Things just kept happening to him.
28
00:02:47,000 --> 00:02:57,000
He felt like he was trapped, under attack, can't get a break, in bondage, cursed.
29
00:02:57,000 --> 00:03:04,000
I hear from many of you who love a prodigal agreeing that you are seeing the pattern,
30
00:03:04,000 --> 00:03:09,000
the evidence of strongholds in the life of your prodigal.
31
00:03:09,000 --> 00:03:12,000
How do they get free?
32
00:03:12,000 --> 00:03:19,000
I believe some of what our prodigals experience is relentless attack from the enemies of their soul.
33
00:03:19,000 --> 00:03:25,000
Satan does not want them to become the men and women God created them to be.
34
00:03:25,000 --> 00:03:32,000
He will use any weapon he can to keep them from truly following the Savior.
35
00:03:32,000 --> 00:03:35,000
He does the same to us who love them.
36
00:03:35,000 --> 00:03:41,000
He tempts and entices them, and he knows what works best.
37
00:03:41,000 --> 00:03:44,000
He's a good student of each one.
38
00:03:44,000 --> 00:03:47,000
He orchestrates circumstances.
39
00:03:47,000 --> 00:03:53,000
He surrounds them with wrong friends or coworkers or bad influences.
40
00:03:53,000 --> 00:03:57,000
He woos them with the things of the world and the flesh.
41
00:03:57,000 --> 00:04:05,000
He convinces them that temporary pleasures will bring no consequences that last.
42
00:04:05,000 --> 00:04:08,000
He traps them in addictions.
43
00:04:08,000 --> 00:04:12,000
He applies curses from generations past.
44
00:04:12,000 --> 00:04:18,000
Yes, I know they make choices to fall into those traps,
45
00:04:18,000 --> 00:04:23,000
but we are wise to recognize that an enemy is at work,
46
00:04:23,000 --> 00:04:30,000
seeking to subvert all our efforts to help, guide, or rescue our loved ones.
47
00:04:30,000 --> 00:04:36,000
Scripture tells us that our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion,
48
00:04:36,000 --> 00:04:39,000
looking for someone to devour.
49
00:04:39,000 --> 00:04:42,000
It's from 1 Peter 5.
50
00:04:42,000 --> 00:04:47,000
He wants to devour your prodigal and mine.
51
00:04:47,000 --> 00:04:52,000
The Lord has continued to open my eyes on this topic.
52
00:04:52,000 --> 00:04:57,000
I believe it is why so many of our prodigals take so long to return.
53
00:04:57,000 --> 00:05:03,000
I know many people are far more knowledgeable on this reality
54
00:05:03,000 --> 00:05:07,000
and how to break down those strongholds than I am.
55
00:05:07,000 --> 00:05:12,000
But there are some ways that we can be engaged.
56
00:05:12,000 --> 00:05:18,000
Yesterday I was reminded of this wonderful verse in Jeremiah 30.
57
00:05:18,000 --> 00:05:22,000
In that day, declares the Lord Almighty,
58
00:05:22,000 --> 00:05:29,000
I will break the yoke off their neck and will tear off their bonds.
59
00:05:29,000 --> 00:05:35,000
I love that God says, I'm going to get rid of those bondages.
60
00:05:35,000 --> 00:05:38,000
I'm going to set them free.
61
00:05:38,000 --> 00:05:42,000
We're not powerless on behalf of these we love.
62
00:05:42,000 --> 00:05:50,000
We have the power of El Shaddai, the Almighty, and El Yon, the Most High God.
63
00:05:50,000 --> 00:05:59,000
Jesus has promised, my Father who has given them to me is greater than all.
64
00:05:59,000 --> 00:06:04,000
No one can snatch them out of the Father's hands.
65
00:06:04,000 --> 00:06:09,000
The Apostle John assures us, you dear children are from God
66
00:06:09,000 --> 00:06:18,000
and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
67
00:06:18,000 --> 00:06:22,000
All the Satan and his minions can do.
68
00:06:22,000 --> 00:06:26,000
God is greater than all of them.
69
00:06:26,000 --> 00:06:30,000
Now you may have heard all these promises I've just read.
70
00:06:30,000 --> 00:06:32,000
I've claimed them many times.
71
00:06:32,000 --> 00:06:36,000
I've prayed to break bondages and soul ties and curses.
72
00:06:36,000 --> 00:06:40,000
And sometimes we see great breakthroughs.
73
00:06:40,000 --> 00:06:44,000
But other times it seems the dark gets darker.
74
00:06:44,000 --> 00:06:52,000
We don't know though what is going on in the heavenlies where the battles are really being fought.
75
00:06:52,000 --> 00:07:00,000
My part, your part, is to persevere in prayer, in faith, and trust.
76
00:07:00,000 --> 00:07:03,000
I've been reading in Isaiah.
77
00:07:03,000 --> 00:07:08,000
Isaiah was my go-to book during our 15-year wilderness journey.
78
00:07:08,000 --> 00:07:14,000
And God has spoken to me through several verses in Isaiah 49.
79
00:07:14,000 --> 00:07:18,000
I know that these verses concern the children of Israel
80
00:07:18,000 --> 00:07:23,000
and the promise of their return to their land from their captivity.
81
00:07:23,000 --> 00:07:34,000
But every time I read them, God whispers to me that he will set free far more than the children of Israel many centuries ago.
82
00:07:34,000 --> 00:07:42,000
So perhaps these words from our Lord, via Isaiah, will encourage you as well.
83
00:07:42,000 --> 00:07:46,000
In Isaiah 49, he said to me,
84
00:07:46,000 --> 00:07:52,000
You are my servant Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.
85
00:07:52,000 --> 00:07:54,000
Did you get that?
86
00:07:54,000 --> 00:08:05,000
God will display his splendor through Israel, but also through his church, his people, and even our rescued prodigals.
87
00:08:05,000 --> 00:08:11,000
But Isaiah said, I have labored in vain. I have spent my strength for nothing.
88
00:08:11,000 --> 00:08:14,000
That's what it feels like sometimes, doesn't it?
89
00:08:14,000 --> 00:08:20,000
We love, we serve, we encourage, we discipline, we spend a lot of money.
90
00:08:20,000 --> 00:08:25,000
And we pray. We are weary. Our strength is spent.
91
00:08:25,000 --> 00:08:27,000
And where is the result?
92
00:08:27,000 --> 00:08:30,000
In Isaiah 49, verses 8 and 9,
93
00:08:30,000 --> 00:08:33,000
This is what the Lord says,
94
00:08:33,000 --> 00:08:42,000
In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you.
95
00:08:42,000 --> 00:08:48,000
Say to the captives, Come out! And to those in darkness, Be free!
96
00:08:48,000 --> 00:08:53,000
I believe God is saying to us, I will answer you.
97
00:08:53,000 --> 00:08:59,000
And to our captives living in darkness, Come out! Be free!
98
00:08:59,000 --> 00:09:06,000
Going on in Isaiah 49, I will not forget you, the Lord says.
99
00:09:06,000 --> 00:09:11,000
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
100
00:09:11,000 --> 00:09:16,000
There it is. Your child's name, your prodigal's name.
101
00:09:16,000 --> 00:09:21,000
Oh yeah, your name, on the palms of his hands.
102
00:09:21,000 --> 00:09:25,000
And then he says, This is what the Lord says,
103
00:09:25,000 --> 00:09:33,000
Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunders retrieved from the fierce.
104
00:09:33,000 --> 00:09:41,000
I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.
105
00:09:41,000 --> 00:09:48,000
I just love that, the captives will be snatched back, taken away from those who have captured them.
106
00:09:48,000 --> 00:09:57,000
And the plunder, and they are the plunder, will be retrieved even from the fierce warriors of the evil one.
107
00:09:57,000 --> 00:10:01,000
I will save your children, he says.
108
00:10:01,000 --> 00:10:07,000
Every time I read this verse, I see a picture of my prodigal and your prodigals
109
00:10:07,000 --> 00:10:15,000
in the grasp of the warriors of Satan, his demons fiercely holding them as plunder for the evil one.
110
00:10:15,000 --> 00:10:24,000
But God says, Nope, he will contend with those fierce warriors, and will retrieve them and save them.
111
00:10:24,000 --> 00:10:28,000
My heart just leaps. God's engaged.
112
00:10:28,000 --> 00:10:34,000
He knows where they are, and he's determined that he will rescue them.
113
00:10:34,000 --> 00:10:43,000
And then he says in verse 23 of Isaiah 49, Then you will know that I am the Lord.
114
00:10:43,000 --> 00:10:49,000
Those who hope in me will not be disappointed.
115
00:10:49,000 --> 00:10:55,000
When I read that last phrase, those who hope in me will not be disappointed.
116
00:10:55,000 --> 00:11:01,000
God's peace just washes over me. My prayers and my hope are not in vain.
117
00:11:01,000 --> 00:11:08,000
He is God, and he is good. He will not disappoint.
118
00:11:08,000 --> 00:11:18,000
May God confirm in your heart and your mind that he is in the battle with you, fighting for your loved one.
119
00:11:18,000 --> 00:11:22,000
This is not a how-to. It's just a reminder.
120
00:11:22,000 --> 00:11:28,000
There are a lot of books and prayers and other resources that will be helpful to you,
121
00:11:28,000 --> 00:11:36,000
and we've listed some in the show notes, and they're also available at the Prayer for Prodigals website.
122
00:11:36,000 --> 00:11:44,000
I'm so grateful that we can join together and pray for each other and for all of our prodigals.
123
00:11:44,000 --> 00:11:53,000
And one day we will see the freedom, the victory, and in the meantime, we wait on our faithful God,
124
00:11:53,000 --> 00:12:03,000
on our knees, maybe even on our face, because he calls on us to keep praying and joining with him.
125
00:12:03,000 --> 00:12:11,000
May you know that when it comes to your prodigal, Satan does not win.
126
00:12:11,000 --> 00:12:14,000
Our God will rescue.
127
00:12:14,000 --> 00:12:22,000
What about you? Where are you in a battle for yourself or for a loved one?
128
00:12:22,000 --> 00:12:28,000
Do you feel there are strongholds in your life or in your loved one's life?
129
00:12:28,000 --> 00:12:31,000
Name them. What are they?
130
00:12:31,000 --> 00:12:39,000
Apply these promises from God so that you and your loved one can be set free.
131
00:12:39,000 --> 00:12:48,000
I'd love it if you told someone else if this was helpful to you or even wrote a review about the podcast.
132
00:12:48,000 --> 00:12:51,000
We have a good one coming up next week.
133
00:12:51,000 --> 00:12:56,000
We're going to be talking about the idols of our lives.
134
00:12:56,000 --> 00:13:22,000
God bless you.
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:10,000
If you love a prodigal, you can discover help and hope for your wilderness journey right here at When You Love a Prodigal,
2
00:00:10,000 --> 00:00:15,000
and even help and hope for your own life journey.
3
00:00:15,000 --> 00:00:21,000
I hope you enjoyed the wisdom from Mary DeMuth in last week's episode,
4
00:00:21,000 --> 00:00:31,000
and that her book, Love, Pray, Listen, will bless you and help you with the adult prodigals in your life.
5
00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:38,000
As we consider the strongholds in the lives of our loved ones, and perhaps ourselves,
6
00:00:38,000 --> 00:00:45,000
today, as we look at setting captives free, sometimes the captive is us.
7
00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:49,000
Often the captive is our loved prodigal.
8
00:00:49,000 --> 00:00:57,000
Be sure to note any verses or any ideas that give you hope that there can be freedom.
9
00:00:57,000 --> 00:01:07,000
Often in the 15-year journey with our prodigal, it seemed like even when he was working hard to not be a prodigal,
10
00:01:07,000 --> 00:01:10,000
that he was under a curse.
11
00:01:10,000 --> 00:01:21,000
Actually, I think he was, probably is, because the evil one is still mad that he came to Jesus.
12
00:01:21,000 --> 00:01:25,000
Lots of bad things happened to him in his first years.
13
00:01:25,000 --> 00:01:32,000
As he got older, most of the bad things in his life were due to his own bad choices.
14
00:01:32,000 --> 00:01:39,000
And yes, he still experiences consequences from those bad choices.
15
00:01:39,000 --> 00:01:48,000
I am sure some of his difficulty in finding a job has been because of those choices.
16
00:01:48,000 --> 00:01:51,000
But then he sought to turn his life around.
17
00:01:51,000 --> 00:01:56,000
He was desiring to make good choices and move toward a different way of life.
18
00:01:56,000 --> 00:02:04,000
Yet it seemed that every day something happened to distract or detour or depress him.
19
00:02:04,000 --> 00:02:11,000
Once he was wrestling with a friend at a bachelor party that resulted in a severe sternum contusion
20
00:02:11,000 --> 00:02:17,000
that was so painful for weeks that he could barely move.
21
00:02:17,000 --> 00:02:25,000
There was a job he got that would earn so little that he couldn't afford the gas to get to it.
22
00:02:25,000 --> 00:02:27,000
His dogs, he loves dogs.
23
00:02:27,000 --> 00:02:30,000
His dogs got out of the yard again.
24
00:02:30,000 --> 00:02:38,000
A neighbor reported it again and animal services slapped him with a huge fine.
25
00:02:38,000 --> 00:02:43,000
His beloved grandfather was not in good health.
26
00:02:43,000 --> 00:02:45,000
I could go on.
27
00:02:45,000 --> 00:02:47,000
Things just kept happening to him.
28
00:02:47,000 --> 00:02:57,000
He felt like he was trapped, under attack, can't get a break, in bondage, cursed.
29
00:02:57,000 --> 00:03:04,000
I hear from many of you who love a prodigal agreeing that you are seeing the pattern,
30
00:03:04,000 --> 00:03:09,000
the evidence of strongholds in the life of your prodigal.
31
00:03:09,000 --> 00:03:12,000
How do they get free?
32
00:03:12,000 --> 00:03:19,000
I believe some of what our prodigals experience is relentless attack from the enemies of their soul.
33
00:03:19,000 --> 00:03:25,000
Satan does not want them to become the men and women God created them to be.
34
00:03:25,000 --> 00:03:32,000
He will use any weapon he can to keep them from truly following the Savior.
35
00:03:32,000 --> 00:03:35,000
He does the same to us who love them.
36
00:03:35,000 --> 00:03:41,000
He tempts and entices them, and he knows what works best.
37
00:03:41,000 --> 00:03:44,000
He's a good student of each one.
38
00:03:44,000 --> 00:03:47,000
He orchestrates circumstances.
39
00:03:47,000 --> 00:03:53,000
He surrounds them with wrong friends or coworkers or bad influences.
40
00:03:53,000 --> 00:03:57,000
He woos them with the things of the world and the flesh.
41
00:03:57,000 --> 00:04:05,000
He convinces them that temporary pleasures will bring no consequences that last.
42
00:04:05,000 --> 00:04:08,000
He traps them in addictions.
43
00:04:08,000 --> 00:04:12,000
He applies curses from generations past.
44
00:04:12,000 --> 00:04:18,000
Yes, I know they make choices to fall into those traps,
45
00:04:18,000 --> 00:04:23,000
but we are wise to recognize that an enemy is at work,
46
00:04:23,000 --> 00:04:30,000
seeking to subvert all our efforts to help, guide, or rescue our loved ones.
47
00:04:30,000 --> 00:04:36,000
Scripture tells us that our enemy prowls around like a roaring lion,
48
00:04:36,000 --> 00:04:39,000
looking for someone to devour.
49
00:04:39,000 --> 00:04:42,000
It's from 1 Peter 5.
50
00:04:42,000 --> 00:04:47,000
He wants to devour your prodigal and mine.
51
00:04:47,000 --> 00:04:52,000
The Lord has continued to open my eyes on this topic.
52
00:04:52,000 --> 00:04:57,000
I believe it is why so many of our prodigals take so long to return.
53
00:04:57,000 --> 00:05:03,000
I know many people are far more knowledgeable on this reality
54
00:05:03,000 --> 00:05:07,000
and how to break down those strongholds than I am.
55
00:05:07,000 --> 00:05:12,000
But there are some ways that we can be engaged.
56
00:05:12,000 --> 00:05:18,000
Yesterday I was reminded of this wonderful verse in Jeremiah 30.
57
00:05:18,000 --> 00:05:22,000
In that day, declares the Lord Almighty,
58
00:05:22,000 --> 00:05:29,000
I will break the yoke off their neck and will tear off their bonds.
59
00:05:29,000 --> 00:05:35,000
I love that God says, I'm going to get rid of those bondages.
60
00:05:35,000 --> 00:05:38,000
I'm going to set them free.
61
00:05:38,000 --> 00:05:42,000
We're not powerless on behalf of these we love.
62
00:05:42,000 --> 00:05:50,000
We have the power of El Shaddai, the Almighty, and El Yon, the Most High God.
63
00:05:50,000 --> 00:05:59,000
Jesus has promised, my Father who has given them to me is greater than all.
64
00:05:59,000 --> 00:06:04,000
No one can snatch them out of the Father's hands.
65
00:06:04,000 --> 00:06:09,000
The Apostle John assures us, you dear children are from God
66
00:06:09,000 --> 00:06:18,000
and have overcome them because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
67
00:06:18,000 --> 00:06:22,000
All the Satan and his minions can do.
68
00:06:22,000 --> 00:06:26,000
God is greater than all of them.
69
00:06:26,000 --> 00:06:30,000
Now you may have heard all these promises I've just read.
70
00:06:30,000 --> 00:06:32,000
I've claimed them many times.
71
00:06:32,000 --> 00:06:36,000
I've prayed to break bondages and soul ties and curses.
72
00:06:36,000 --> 00:06:40,000
And sometimes we see great breakthroughs.
73
00:06:40,000 --> 00:06:44,000
But other times it seems the dark gets darker.
74
00:06:44,000 --> 00:06:52,000
We don't know though what is going on in the heavenlies where the battles are really being fought.
75
00:06:52,000 --> 00:07:00,000
My part, your part, is to persevere in prayer, in faith, and trust.
76
00:07:00,000 --> 00:07:03,000
I've been reading in Isaiah.
77
00:07:03,000 --> 00:07:08,000
Isaiah was my go-to book during our 15-year wilderness journey.
78
00:07:08,000 --> 00:07:14,000
And God has spoken to me through several verses in Isaiah 49.
79
00:07:14,000 --> 00:07:18,000
I know that these verses concern the children of Israel
80
00:07:18,000 --> 00:07:23,000
and the promise of their return to their land from their captivity.
81
00:07:23,000 --> 00:07:34,000
But every time I read them, God whispers to me that he will set free far more than the children of Israel many centuries ago.
82
00:07:34,000 --> 00:07:42,000
So perhaps these words from our Lord, via Isaiah, will encourage you as well.
83
00:07:42,000 --> 00:07:46,000
In Isaiah 49, he said to me,
84
00:07:46,000 --> 00:07:52,000
You are my servant Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.
85
00:07:52,000 --> 00:07:54,000
Did you get that?
86
00:07:54,000 --> 00:08:05,000
God will display his splendor through Israel, but also through his church, his people, and even our rescued prodigals.
87
00:08:05,000 --> 00:08:11,000
But Isaiah said, I have labored in vain. I have spent my strength for nothing.
88
00:08:11,000 --> 00:08:14,000
That's what it feels like sometimes, doesn't it?
89
00:08:14,000 --> 00:08:20,000
We love, we serve, we encourage, we discipline, we spend a lot of money.
90
00:08:20,000 --> 00:08:25,000
And we pray. We are weary. Our strength is spent.
91
00:08:25,000 --> 00:08:27,000
And where is the result?
92
00:08:27,000 --> 00:08:30,000
In Isaiah 49, verses 8 and 9,
93
00:08:30,000 --> 00:08:33,000
This is what the Lord says,
94
00:08:33,000 --> 00:08:42,000
In the time of my favor I will answer you, and in the day of salvation I will help you.
95
00:08:42,000 --> 00:08:48,000
Say to the captives, Come out! And to those in darkness, Be free!
96
00:08:48,000 --> 00:08:53,000
I believe God is saying to us, I will answer you.
97
00:08:53,000 --> 00:08:59,000
And to our captives living in darkness, Come out! Be free!
98
00:08:59,000 --> 00:09:06,000
Going on in Isaiah 49, I will not forget you, the Lord says.
99
00:09:06,000 --> 00:09:11,000
See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands.
100
00:09:11,000 --> 00:09:16,000
There it is. Your child's name, your prodigal's name.
101
00:09:16,000 --> 00:09:21,000
Oh yeah, your name, on the palms of his hands.
102
00:09:21,000 --> 00:09:25,000
And then he says, This is what the Lord says,
103
00:09:25,000 --> 00:09:33,000
Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunders retrieved from the fierce.
104
00:09:33,000 --> 00:09:41,000
I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save.
105
00:09:41,000 --> 00:09:48,000
I just love that, the captives will be snatched back, taken away from those who have captured them.
106
00:09:48,000 --> 00:09:57,000
And the plunder, and they are the plunder, will be retrieved even from the fierce warriors of the evil one.
107
00:09:57,000 --> 00:10:01,000
I will save your children, he says.
108
00:10:01,000 --> 00:10:07,000
Every time I read this verse, I see a picture of my prodigal and your prodigals
109
00:10:07,000 --> 00:10:15,000
in the grasp of the warriors of Satan, his demons fiercely holding them as plunder for the evil one.
110
00:10:15,000 --> 00:10:24,000
But God says, Nope, he will contend with those fierce warriors, and will retrieve them and save them.
111
00:10:24,000 --> 00:10:28,000
My heart just leaps. God's engaged.
112
00:10:28,000 --> 00:10:34,000
He knows where they are, and he's determined that he will rescue them.
113
00:10:34,000 --> 00:10:43,000
And then he says in verse 23 of Isaiah 49, Then you will know that I am the Lord.
114
00:10:43,000 --> 00:10:49,000
Those who hope in me will not be disappointed.
115
00:10:49,000 --> 00:10:55,000
When I read that last phrase, those who hope in me will not be disappointed.
116
00:10:55,000 --> 00:11:01,000
God's peace just washes over me. My prayers and my hope are not in vain.
117
00:11:01,000 --> 00:11:08,000
He is God, and he is good. He will not disappoint.
118
00:11:08,000 --> 00:11:18,000
May God confirm in your heart and your mind that he is in the battle with you, fighting for your loved one.
119
00:11:18,000 --> 00:11:22,000
This is not a how-to. It's just a reminder.
120
00:11:22,000 --> 00:11:28,000
There are a lot of books and prayers and other resources that will be helpful to you,
121
00:11:28,000 --> 00:11:36,000
and we've listed some in the show notes, and they're also available at the Prayer for Prodigals website.
122
00:11:36,000 --> 00:11:44,000
I'm so grateful that we can join together and pray for each other and for all of our prodigals.
123
00:11:44,000 --> 00:11:53,000
And one day we will see the freedom, the victory, and in the meantime, we wait on our faithful God,
124
00:11:53,000 --> 00:12:03,000
on our knees, maybe even on our face, because he calls on us to keep praying and joining with him.
125
00:12:03,000 --> 00:12:11,000
May you know that when it comes to your prodigal, Satan does not win.
126
00:12:11,000 --> 00:12:14,000
Our God will rescue.
127
00:12:14,000 --> 00:12:22,000
What about you? Where are you in a battle for yourself or for a loved one?
128
00:12:22,000 --> 00:12:28,000
Do you feel there are strongholds in your life or in your loved one's life?
129
00:12:28,000 --> 00:12:31,000
Name them. What are they?
130
00:12:31,000 --> 00:12:39,000
Apply these promises from God so that you and your loved one can be set free.
131
00:12:39,000 --> 00:12:48,000
I'd love it if you told someone else if this was helpful to you or even wrote a review about the podcast.
132
00:12:48,000 --> 00:12:51,000
We have a good one coming up next week.
133
00:12:51,000 --> 00:12:56,000
We're going to be talking about the idols of our lives.
134
00:12:56,000 --> 00:13:22,000
God bless you.
