We are continuing the stories of Esther Annie Halberg and her sister Lois and their stories of... growing up and what went on in their lives in China and how God has used them. Lois has an amazing story of what it's like in prison in China and how you really just can't imprison the Holy Spirit because he's going to work through whosoever will. And she was willing. So God met her and used her in a powerful way when she was imprisoned in China. We're so glad that you've joined us today. Thank you so much.

God just moved on your life and you became an evangelist and how you were just going for it in serving God in communist China. Yeah, so immediately after, I have a great passion to learn Bible. So God brought so many

2:59 American missionary to me to teach me Bible, German missionary, Australian missionary. Anyway, I don't know how they just come to my life suddenly like, yeah, and my life. I found a meaning. I found a joy. I began to laugh like them, you know. Tremendous change. Then I received, at the same time that God, Jesus, given me a calling, I read all these early disciples. Jesus said, come follow me. I'll make you fishmen. I just cannot help deny it. I said, Jesus, you call me to be a fisherman. You call me to follow you.

3:41 And eventually, when I graduated in 1988, I graduated from my double major. And I have an opportunity to remain at my university to become a law teacher. Yeah, so teaching the law in English, that kind of position they give to me. And you can have a good salary. You can have a Beijing citizenship. You know, it's very hard to get Beijing citizenship like get a Roman citizenship, you know. The highest citizenship in China. But I just keep feeling like God. calling me and God brought me to underground church, all these saints, you know, they just come out of the prison. Wang Mingdao's disciples, they've been in prison, Yuan Xiangcheng, 20 years.

4:32 So they've just been released. I was, you know, by accident, I was brought to that meeting. It's like, wow, you know, later I realized they are like passing on their anointing to us, you know, like mental, they mentally are. So I just cannot deny God calling me to serve him. You have to give up everything, you know, that Jesus keeps saying, you know, and deny yourself, take up your cross to follow me and pay the price. So I decided to give up my job, give up my career to follow Jesus. But I didn't realize that cost me so much. I got no job, no place to stay. I just want to go to Bible college. But for going to Bible college, I have to... live in nowhere, had no money, nothing for four or five years.

5:29 But God said, I am your Bible college. He started training me and using me as evangelist. So that time I got such a zeal to preach gospel. I preached and built up the university fellowship, the first fellowship in university. Wow. Yeah, later I went back to my school, my university. They have so many become Christian. Glory to God. Yeah, even today they still, the fellowship become a church, underground church. Wow. So because of that, I brought Lois, my sister, also, you know, in Beijing, Beijing People University.

6:11 She studied banking. So for the first year, I tried to influence her. She quite feel, no, no, no, don't talk Jesus with me too much, too much. Because every time when we come together, I just talk Jesus. I remember one day we were on the bicycle. I talk Jesus. She says, stop now. She ride bike back home, you know. But yeah, that year on the Easter, yeah, in China called Resurrection Day. And our missionary teacher, Janet Boyce, she invite us for Passover meal. Remember that Passover meal at her house. They made a cross and they made the bun with the cross on it. We never seen that before. Very. deeply impressed.

7:05 They both went to China to be missionaries, but they learned Chinese. They were also Chinese students. Eventually, her husband became a PhD in Chinese. He spoke Chinese. He told us, he said, look, the Lamb of God. He took away all my sin. I will follow him forever and ever. When Lois heard that word, he fell on the ground. Remember, he cried and cried and cried. He said, yeah, I will follow him too. So she was born again. Beautiful. Beautiful. So then you graduated from the university with your master's in banking, and you got a job. Then what happened? Yeah, she had chosen a narrow route for following Jesus, like Abraham, you know, the sacrificial route.

8:30 So she decided to give up her job. The government provided for her also to be a teacher at her university. And, you know, all the salary she wanted to experience God. So she went to Shenzhen. 那时候我们就刚接受了西方民主自由这种思想 ,所以呢 ,就是认为中国政府是很腐败 ,所以我们就不想在这个罪里面有份 ,所以就去了深圳。 Yeah, those days, you know, we are chasing the freedom and justice for the Christian.

9:11 You know, in the underground, we were being educated, you know, don't involve in the corrupted thing. So that we all give up our job to serve the government. You know, we don't want to be in the corrupted thing. Because the government was so corrupted. Yeah. And the government is so corrupted because they don't have Jesus. No. Yeah. So that's why we want to follow Jesus. without joining the corrupted company. Good. We started our university fellowship. That was actually the first university fellowship in Tsinghua University. Very well known. Many students later on joined us in that time. They all became Jesus' disciples. Yes, we all chose the way to go to serve Jesus. become evangelists, full -time evangelists. Wow. Everybody had abandoned their very good job from the government.

10:36 Wow. Yeah, so she went to Shenzhen. Yeah, very easy to just find a job. Yeah, that job is about serving at one stock market. 就是中国的法律也不够健全嘛 ,所以就很容易给别人犯罪的机会。 Yeah, because China law is not perfected, so there is a chance for other people to commit crime. 然後就很快我們就陷入了一個很大的麻煩。 Yeah, soon they realized they fell into a big trap. 大概有四個億人民幣的虧損。 Yeah, it's like 0 .4 billion of Chinese yuan being corrupted. 嗯 ,然後發生了這麼大的事情 ,對我來說是... Yeah, for her it's like, you know, going to die, that kind of danger. 12:44 Wonderful. 然后当我那天走进教会的时候 ,听见他们在敬拜赞美。 When I walked into church, I heard they are worshiping the Lord. 之前在北京我们也有校园团契, 但是我们还是比较理性的那种, 魂的那种。 Yeah, 起初吧。 In Beijing, we just like started the basic fellowship, you know, to learn the Bible, because we all come from communism. In the beginning, we never heard about the Holy Spirit. 但是深圳的教会 ,我一进去就... Yeah, when she walked to the church, like the tears all over her face. 之后就开始成长了。 Yeah, then started growing. 然后也通过祷告 ,我的公司的这件事情就好像过去了。 Through prayer, she got peace to leave the company, you know. It looked like all passed away. 当时有一个异梦。 But had a dream given to her. 有两棵大树。 Yeah, there are two big trees. 倒下。 Yeah, they fell over.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. The boss ran away. The boss using her as like a scapegoat.

16:31 Yeah, so she took the fall for it. Yeah, she's a scientist. using her signature because she had very high education quality, you know. So they appointed her as a general manager. Actually, the boss is behind, you know. So he set her up for it. Yeah, he set up everything. She's a very, you know, a young student just to graduate, you know. Okay. Nothing about that. Okay. So she was being used by this boss. To do the corruption without knowing she was in the middle of it. Exactly. Okay. So they arrested you and took you to jail. Yes. Yeah, so not in the jail, before the jail. What do you call it? Probate? Probation?

17:42 Yeah, probation. Okay. Probation, yeah. So from that point, she started two -year and four -month prison life. Wow. Yeah, I have seen a world I never seen before when I was walking to prison. Yeah, when the door opened, there were about over 30 prisoners. They welcome her. Oh my. They're friendly, but they're curious. They give her a cup of hot water. Yeah, every cell has one.

So you are the last one to come, so almost like there's

They need Jesus, need a savior. 对 ,对。 所以我就安心了。 I was settled. 然后又做了这个四十天禁食以后, 神给我那个创世纪摩西, 神说摩西说荣耀, 我的荣耀要从里面借过。 对 ,对 ,对 ,那句话。 Then she started 40 days fast. After the 40 days fast, God spoke to her. He said, My glory shall pass before you.

In the most difficult environment situation, the Lord wants me to see His grace. God started growing in my face. This is the most difficult situation. grow my faith, best situation to grow my faith. 23:40 that time I think if there is hell on the earth, my prison is hell. Yeah. So what were you doing all day? From the second day you entered to the prison, they told me I have to work. 你要完成任务。 You must complete your work. 如果你完不成任务 ,可能就会有刑具在等着你。 If you can't finish your work on that day, you will be punished. Put the handcuffs and put you at the corner of the priest. I have seen so many punished or hang you up on the roof. 我都已经忘记了 ,就是说你已经没有精力去想我怎么处理我的案子 ,就是想要怎么活下去。 You have no time to think about how you deal with your case.

Yeah, God's grace is wealthy. Yeah, somebody wants to help her. Yeah, they give their finished work to her. Wow, that's favor. Yeah, that's because you become a Christian leading them.

She has seen so many, many people. She baptized the people at the toilet with bucket of water. Oh my. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, a hundred and a way, man. Yeah, Shang Bai Ren. Yeah, I see.

31:26 A hundred. Over a hundred women. She baptized them with bucket of cold water. Yeah, they don't have hot water in the prison. Then not only she's preaching the gospel, all the people who become believers, they start preaching gospel too. Glory to God. 他们甚至比我更会传福音。 Yeah, they even preach better gospel than me. 对 ,他们会影响那些和他们一样的 ,做一样坏事的人。 Yeah, because they can influence those ones who are doing the same bad things. 比如说那些贩毒的。 Yeah, especially those drug dealers. So did you have a Bible?

So you can see how God takes these terrible situations and turns it for good to bring a harvest. Hallelujah. So this is representing China entering into the most glorious history.

39:40 Yeah. I believe that so many angels have been released to China. And because this time God rewarded the saints of China. They prayed, prayed, prayed. Now a new China is rising up. Hallelujah. When I was in prison, two years, half, every day working 17 hours to make the Christmas light bulb for Americans for Christmas. Yeah. They've been tortured to death. Yeah. Isn't it wonderful to have inexpensive Christmas lights? Yeah. They were made by prisoners.

And Father, we ask you to do a work of cleansing in the government of China and really go deeper than it's gone already for cleansing the government in America. But we're asking you to do it by changing the hearts of many women. Only you can really bring peace in the heart. And it's really only peace in the heart that will bring peace in the earth. So Lord, we ask you to wash over China with the blood of Jesus Christ. Wash over America with the blood of Jesus Christ. Forgive us for our greed. Forgive us for the shedding of innocent blood. Forgive us, Lord, for sexual immorality and perversion. Forgive us for idolatry. Forgive us, Lord, for breaking of covenants. Forgive us for witchcraft. And all of these things that are abominations. Father, I want to specifically

53:24 ask for forgiveness for abortion. It's been here in this country and they've wiped out a whole generation in China with their one -child policy. Yes. So, Father, we ask for your forgiveness and we ask for your glory to come down and wash across the earth with the blood of Jesus Christ. In Jesus' name. Amen. Let the beauty of Jesus men see.
