(301) “Strategies for Defeating Your Enemy” (Part 4)

God promises in Joel 2 .28 to pour out His Spirit on all humanity. And we've been using some of the books that were written by our founder, Gwen Shaw. This time, we're going to talk about this book, God's End Time Battle Plan. We're going to be talking about many different things that are battle plans that God will use in your life that will help you to overcome your enemy.

Sister Gwen, our founder, she put them in this book, but she also put like a bigger emphasis on them. So one of the things that is in this book, the first thing is praise. And of course, we dealt with that in episode, well, I'm not sure which episode it was, I think 299 or 298 about the power of praise. Power of praise, yeah. So did you have something you wanted to bring on that, Philip? Yeah. There's many, many books out there, you know, dealing with praise, worship and that. But what it comes down on an individual basis is where are you with God? True.

4:11 You know, what is your walk? How are you walking? Are you staying clean? Are you staying pure? And in Psalm 24, now I just want to read some of the verses here. Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord or who shall stand in his holy place? He that has clean hands and a pure heart, who hasn't lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully, he shall receive the blessing of the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. And for us today, this is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob, Selah. Lift up your hands, O ye gates, lift ye up the everlasting doors, and the King of glory. Amen. Amen. So this pertains to us today. Even though this was written...

5:26 Way back a Psalm of David, way about 3 ,500 years ago. But it holds true. But this is the generation. It's now Generation X, I think, is where we're at. And Z. Z. What's after that? I think they're going back to Alpha. They're going back to Alpha. But every generation, you know, needs to walk and worship. And every generation, things change. Worship changes. The styles change. And because it changes the atmosphere. You know, worship, praise changes the atmosphere. It'll change your atmosphere because if you can walk in praise, you know, wake up in the morning, just praise God. If you can maintain that level of praise and worship, that will just lift you above circumstances that would normally just drag you down. In order to really defeat the enemy, you have to live a holy life. True. You can read all the books you want on spiritual warfare, the scriptures, but if you're not living a holy life, Satan has a legal right that will keep you from pressing through and in victory. And I told our daughter back when she was young, You know, if you're a worship leader, actually anybody in ministry, you have a bullseye on your back. True. And the devil is going to try to shoot you. Target. So, you know, you have to know that he's there and he has arrows, but don't let him hit that bullseye.

6:54 That's the thing. And you can keep him out of the bullseye by living a holy life, a life of worship, a life of praise. And that is how you grow in God. Right. Your scriptures, you keep praise. It's in Philippians, the fourth chapter, singing hymns, songs and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody in your heart always unto the Lord. Right. Who would know this more than Paul? Right. Paul knew the scriptures. Paul was taught under Gamaliel, one of the greatest teachers of its time. And still he didn't recognize the scriptures of Jesus, of Yeshua, Mashiach, the Messiah. But when he had that visitation. You know, when he was blind for three days, you know, if you get blinded, you know, God blinds you for three days. Yeah. You're going to listen because you can't do nothing else, really, you know. True. And so he grew rapidly and he spent time in the desert and he learned to find God.

7:54 And so the churches of all the epistles and many of these epistles, it's centered on certain things for that particular church. And we can use those today for us and how he deals with things. But this is one of the keys to a renewed mind, you know, is keeping in the presence of the Lord. So praise is one of the big things. And we covered that singing, you know, Jehoshaphat, you know, when he went out to battle, the praiser sends you to first and the battle. Remember that song we used to sing? Send Judah first and the battle will be won. Send Judah first and. We shall overcome, I don't know. Don't remember the words. Glory to the Father, praise to the Son, send you the first. Something like that, pretty close to it.

8:41 But so it's scriptural and it works. You know, when you're even as a worship leader, you know, you wake up in the morning, you know, Sunday morning, whatever. And sometimes the devil, there's a term we used to use, my dad used to throw a monkey wrench. You know, into the mixer. Yeah. And it's kind of like putting something in the spikes of your bike and make you fall off. That's what Satan is going to try to do, especially at a key time when God wants to use you in a certain way. The devil is going to try to trip you up, you know, somehow, especially if you're leading worship in the morning, you're going to work and he's going to try to derail you off your tracks. Any way that he can do it, he can use the car in front of you. He can use a message on your phone to try to trip you up. And so we have to maintain this level of worship and praise unto the Lord so you don't give the devil a legal right in order to have something for happen.

9:43 Can I interject? Yeah, you go right ahead. What I'm seeing as you're talking about this, Philip, is that as you worship, as you... keep that atmosphere of praise around you, it creates a bubble of protection of the presence of God. The presence of God himself is going to be this bubble around you, protecting you. You're going to be under the blood of Jesus. When you're living a holy life, you're going to be in this place of protection where those arrows can't get through. And that's why this worship and this praise is such an important thing to keep the presence of God around you, keep his glory around you. And you know, that makes the devil run. Yeah. Wow. Praise God. Excuse me for interrupting. Carry on. No, that was good.

10:31 That was just really excellent. So did you have anything more on praise or through singing? That was my two cents worth on that. That was your two cents worth. You know, even singing. Yes. That is a key for yourself is singing. And I remember when we had our wreck, we had an incredible wreck. And it's what I called going through the dark night of the soul. You know, we were damaged so bad. Our hands were damaged, couldn't play guitars or anything like that. And Sharon would always have a melody. She was always singing. I'm always either humming or whistling or singing, or it's just going around in my head. And my mom used to be like that. It would drive me crazy. You know, because, well, I was one to believe her. I was kind of backslidden. She's always humming or this or that. And when we had that wreck, it's just like Sharon lost her song for quite a while. For weeks. And I did not even realize that I'd lost my song until I got it back. When I started humming again or whistling again or something, I don't remember which it was. All of a sudden, it was like, it's back.

11:40 I hadn't even realized it was gone. But now it's back. And I was shocked to realize that I had completely lost it during that period of time. It was tough. It was a tough, tough time. And when you don't have it. You know, it was just the trauma that we had been through, that we were experiencing the pain and the grief and the loss of our expectations of what we were going to be doing. Can you ever play guitar again? I remember. It didn't look like it. I remember when, you know, we're still in the car and the car is on its side and I'm up above you looking down at you and I'm looking at your hand and the damage on your hands. My hands were all, you know, tendons tore and it was, you know.

12:26 I don't think you voiced it, but I knew that you were wondering, will I ever play guitar again? That was the first thing I thought when I really gained consciousness in the hospital. You know, I'm out on flat on my back, propped up with my hands on pillows, all bloody nails tore up and tendon tore. And I thought, will I ever? I said, my God, will I ever play guitar again? That was the first things out of my mind. Not thank you, Lord, I'm alive. Yeah. You know, I was looking at grief. It was grief. Because this happened. It was grief. Right. Though I should have been killed or end up in a wheelchair. Right. So I thank God later for that. And I used to do that every day when I think about it. Thank you, Jesus, I'm alive and I'm not in a wheelchair. Yeah.

13:11 But that will keep you out of depression. Right. You know, because that's one of the biggest things the devil will use, especially if you don't get it your way or things happen. that will just knock the song out of you. It's learning to get over that. Yes. You know, over that, when you get over the initial shock of something that has happened, a death. You know, it could be a spouse or something. And an instant grief comes in. You know, it could be anything. You know, all of a sudden you get this letter in the mail that you owe the IRS $3 ,000, you know. Or $30 ,000 or $60 ,000. That can make you lose your song real quick. Yeah. You know, and it's just learning to step and abide in that. Right. And that way you can help you to overcome. And when you know someone who has just gone through something.

13:58 That's where intercession comes in. You need to pray for people, especially people who have just lost a loved one or have been through some tragedy or they're being faced with some kind of sickness that is unto death. you need to be praying. We need to be praying for each other. That helps to keep the bubble around us. So if I can't sing and you can, you need to sing on my behalf or I need to sing on your behalf. I think that would really help because the victory that we get through singing, the victory that we get through praise has to do with hosting the presence of the Lord. Our worship and our praise. And, you know, sometimes even just breathing, just breathing can be healing. Like the Lord showed me to breathe in his presence and breathe out worship. It doesn't have to be with words.

14:59 It can just be with the thoughts of your mind worshiping, even if you can't. Or even... just breathe, just breathe. You know, when you get into a situation where that's all you can do, just breathe and God will raise up intercessors to help you. You know, the world kind of says something happens, count to 10, you know, take a deep breath, count to 10. It helps you get over that initial few seconds of. of what others. So, so that's a real depression. Keep you out of, you know, just learning, you know, and yeah, we've been in ministry. I've been like 44 years and sharing 48. And so, so what we're sharing with you is things that we have learned that we have had to walk through, you know, and through situations and, and many things like that, especially even as worship leaders and, you know, and even, On a daily basis, we always have our time of worship. We get our guitars out first thing in the morning. And on my phone, you get these reminders you put on your phone, and you have one daily.

16:07 And one of mine that always comes up says, host his presence. So you want to be a host of the Holy Spirit in your life, a host of his presence and his glory. Well, one of the things, you know, because everything here is scripture, what we're sharing, and that's to use some musical instruments. Yes. You know, we covered before David that he was out with his sheep, with his harp, and just worshiping God. He goes, he gets anointed king, goes back to his sheep. Right. But he took down Goliath. Right. He took down the one everybody else was afraid of because he spent time. in the presence of the Lord. And when you spend time in the presence of the Lord, you can do things you would not do otherwise because he gives you a holy boldness. And then you can do things that he asks you to do when you feel that unction come upon you. So musical instruments is a big part. And so David had a harp. And the Bible has different words. They have a harp or a lyre, psaltery, sackbut, lute. Get some of these. I'd have to really look up in the Hebrew.

17:15 And in the Psalms, many times in the Psalms of Asaph, it'll say in the beginning of it, you know, on Higamoth or something. And what it is, it's an instrument. And that's what Asaph, they would play this instrument while they would sing this psalm. Call it psalming. Maybe that's another word that you could call it. So if you see that at the beginning. A lot of Bibles that will have that. Yeah. Or to the chief. This is Psalm 22, a Psalm of David. To the chief musician upon Aieleth Shachar. Okay. I don't know what it is. It might not even be in the Hebrew because it's not actually part of the scripture, but it's somewhere. It's there. Because they got it somewhere, you know. Yeah, yeah. So stringed instruments.

17:59 And what we have today, the biggest thing that we use of a string instrument is a guitar. Piano, the keyboard, all this originated, you know, they're strings. They're all string instruments. Of course, now you have synthesizers and you have keyboards that sound like a piano. And you can get all these different sounds. And, you know, sound always evolves, you know, through the ages, even as these strings. Then you had the mandolins, like in the 1600s. And all through music, the Baroque era of music, you know, when it was first getting strings. And Bach, one of the greatest composers of all time, in the beginning would write in the initials, Jesus, help me.

18:48 At the end, to God alone the glory. And much of Bach's music was written for the church. True. You know, pipe work, whether it be an organ, it could be an oratorio, it would be many, many things like that because music is powerful. Music moves the soul. That's true. Music, and for one way or another. That's true. And it can work both ways. It can work both ways. And I remember my mom would get on me for this back in the 1970s, you know, when I, because, you know, rock and roll just was really rolling back then, you know, with wailing guitars and all that sort of thing. And about the experiments they would do with rats and mice. And they would blast them at different times, a lot of times with just classical music that was soft and melodic. Other times they would blast them with rock and roll. And the rats and mice that they would do that to would turn out and they would be aggressive. You know, if you remember reading, hearing things. So they've done experiments on this stuff, how music affects your soul. It's true. Because, you know, your soul is your emotion. And music plays a big part on your emotions. It's true. But even in grocery stores, you know, we're in there and I'm hearing, sometimes I'll hear a song in my head, something out of the 60s or the 70s or something. And then all of a sudden I'm hearing it. See, I heard it in my subconscious. without knowing I was

20:21 listening to it. And many times this song can bring back a memory. If I hear songs of the late 60s, it's going back when I first started high school and all this. And songs later when, you know, when you're out of high school. And I remember I was then I'm backslidden by the time I had all these and listening to all the wrong stuff. But you can't abide in that. You know, you have to listen to it. OK, throw it out. It's gone. You know, you don't abide on it because it will take you back to where you don't want to go. Yes. And sometimes God lets those things happen so that you can bring the blood of Jesus Christ to bear over it. wipe it out of the memory bank, so to speak. I mean, it's not like you actually forget it, but if you pray into those things, then it gives the opportunity for a cleansing and a setting right so that it's not going to be something that'll pull you down later on.

21:18 Yeah, that's true. So it's powerful. And then we have percussion instruments. Sure. Now, ASEF, you'll read about, you'll see in Psalms. Song of Asaph. He was the lead worship leader and he plays cymbals. Yeah. That wouldn't go over today on stage very good. I mean, you got all these monitors set up. Everybody's got their own mix. And here's a head worship leader with cymbals, you know, crash, you know, that doesn't really fit. But back in temple worship, there was thousands of instrumentals and singers, you know, especially David, you know, talks about he had like a couple thousand singers. And they had 24 -7 worship. Today, you hear of 24 -7 worship.

22:04 We've had houses of worship, Sukkot Hallel in Israel, with Rick Riding says 24 -hour worship out of Jerusalem. And so they had, this was all sent to temple, and they had trumpets. You know, they had the trumpets would blast, the shofars, but they had other trumpets too. And so worship was always part of the worship in the temple and in the tabernacle. And so you had drums, and there was different kinds of drums and instruments. And they had wind instruments. You know, in Genesis 421, it talks about different instruments and even not animals. horns you know they would make well a shofar as an animal you know that's out of the animals horns and then they and they had the straight trumpet the flute it was a make a pipe, put holes in it. And David had all these instruments because David was a creator of music and God gave him the ability to create instruments.

23:04 So a lot of instruments we have today are a result of David. And we have such a freedom of worship in our conventions like nothing you've ever seen. I remember this one family, they had these instruments and they had this It looked like a mata, you know. It was like a rod. It was like a rod. It had three tambourines with Hebrew writing on it. It had pomegranates on the bottom of it. And when we acquired later on members of this family and the Charismatic Renewal, had visions of heaven, and a couple of them were taken to David's workshop, and he was showing them the instruments he'd make, and they modeled this instrument after what they saw in heaven. I said, wow, you could make these and sell them, you know. They never did, but it was just fascinating.

23:57 So God can give you downloads on musical instruments, tambourines. All of a sudden, you know, we have dance troupes. using tambourines. We've touched on Charlotte Baker, the one that did the parable of the eye of the needle. God gave her the revelation of putting dance and banners back in the church. It's all part of worship. The more of changing in time, he reveals more things about... Because it's like Dean saw when he was in heaven. The angels round about, holy, holy, holy. Because they're showing God is revealing something to them, something new about himself. As we go along, getting more and more revelation from the Lord, he's revealing more and more things about himself and about what goes on in heaven. Amen. On earth as it is in heaven. Amen. So we have drums, and there's drums in the church. And that wasn't there when we were kids. Not in our church. Not in our church. We didn't have drums. We had an organ in this corner. We had the piano over here.

25:06 And that's all there was. And we were part of the independent assemblies of God. We were in a Swedish. church. They were mostly all Swedes, you know, Swansons, Nelsons, Nielsons, Karlsons, all the sons, you know, and all that. And they were more reserved. I mean, Swedes are more reserved, you know. But then we got this youth choir. The Lord spoke to one of our youth. He was a musical guy, and he would conduct. And so I feel to start a youth choir. Nobody had youth choirs back then. This is about 1970. I think this started. And so it was the first one of our denomination.

25:47 And we had like three or four churches in Chicago. And then we went to youth camp. And our youth camp was up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Spencer Lake, a beautiful place. And it's where our denomination, that's where they all would gather, you know, one week. Here we are with our youth choir. We had white pants, black shirts, and white ties. We were just really cool, you know. And we were a youth choir seeking modern, you know, it was Ralph Carmichael, Kurt Kaiser, which is mild by today's standards, but they were the first one that God used to use music that was not in the hymn book. Let's put it that way. I guess that's a good way to say it. And all of a sudden, all these records are coming out now of all these different people. And it was like a shift. And that happened at the Charismatic Renewal. Yeah, and the Jesus people. The Jesus people is what started this. A lot of the rockers got saved.

26:44 The rockers got saved. They came in, and that's why you have guitars in the church. It's true. You can thank the hippies in the early years that got saved on the beaches of California. And they're all... playing, you know, guitars and everything. I was the first one to bring a guitar in our church. Yeah, and that is how that started. And then the drums kind of came in. And then we got a drummer. And that was wild, a drum in our church and a drummer. Well, there were other cultures that had the drums. Yeah, there was other, had the drum. But we didn't have them in ours. We didn't have enough soul to have drums. Until we started to integrate our churches. Yeah. And we did this one song.

27:28 And one of the elders of the church threatened to take his daughter out of the choir if we sang it because it wasn't quite fit his criteria of worship. Yeah. But that's where it started. More and more youth choirs. And today, like one of our things we do Sunday morning, we like to tune in. to Orlando to Jesus Image for the worship that goes on there. Because they do a lot of the older songs that we heard when we were their age. And they're just so anointed. Yes. And the worship is, you know, it's just such powerful. They don't do a whole lot of praise songs. They just go like go right into worship and they just hang there. And it's powerful. And that's where we need to end up is, you know, when we. The purpose of worship is to open the heavens. Yes.

28:20 That's the purpose of worship. And you can think yourself as a drill, just drilling holes through the darkness because you can go into areas and you can feel the darkness. And I remember times we did our regional conventions and we were somewhere in Ohio we would go. And we would have like three meetings. And sometimes it seemed like it took the last meeting to get a real breakthrough in worship because of the demonic oppression that was around. But the worship, you don't have to be a worship leader. You are your own worship leader. But you don't have to be on the stage to poke holes in the heavenlies. You can do it wherever you're at. And the more people you have do it, that's why when you have a corporate...

29:04 gathering, corporate anointing, the glory is all the greater. And that's what creates these heavenly portals where the glory can just, and you can establish places of worship in churches that they have that breakthrough continually. It's like a portal for the glory of God to come down. And it can affect everything around about. And when a real move of God happens, then it just like comes down and like a downburst, you know, a downburst or so. These downdrafts can hit, you know, 100 miles an hour, hit the ground and just go with these winds and like a derecho. And it just takes everything in its path just, you know, gets blown over. You know, it's powerful.

29:49 So that's the power that is in worship, in strings. And another one is like Phil Driscoll is a good example. He was a trumpet player. I mean, he was just a stratospheric trumpet player. He could just really get up there. And it was a church in Jacksonville. It was Beaches Chapel back in the 70s, and our founder, Sister Gwen, was ministering. And by the Holy Spirit, she's up on the stage, and she says, I hear you have a trumpet player here that's really good. And everybody's pointing, you know, kind of. And he says, you know, Phil, come up here. And she points to somebody in the orchestra that's on the stage. Give him your trumpet. I want you to play something. And he played Amazing Grace. It's in this book, actually.

30:42 I was just reading this testimony. So Phil's playing Amazing Grace. And as soon as he's done playing. Sister Gwen says, you can get filled with the Holy Ghost right now. And she lays hands on him and right in front of him. Everybody, everything, he gets filled with the Holy Spirit. Yes. But what she didn't know, he was not allowed to play on the stage because he wasn't quite living a sanctified life yet. You know, he had gotten saved. And, you know, when you get saved, you're not a saint overnight. Really? Really, you know. Instant Christian changed overnight, you know. Right. No, that doesn't happen. I mean, you got— Well, there can be major change. I mean, a God like that can take your addictions away.

31:25 Any addiction you have can just be gone. But your soul tries to drag you down. There's still things to deal with. There's still things to deal with. So he was forbidden to play, but Sister Gwen didn't know that because she was operating by the Holy Spirit. And when you're operating by the Holy Spirit, you can do things that are out of the ordinary. True. And after that, he just went and God just used him. as a trumpet. And he'd come to our conventions. And I remember on the side of the truck, he had a picture of a trumpet blowing down strongholds. Amen. And he had a love to be, wanted to be a pilot. And his sister Gwen's husband was a pilot and taught him the love of flying. You know, he'd just honor Sister Gwen when we'd go to a concert where he was playing and would just honor her because...

32:15 God used her in his life to turn him upside down. Glory to God. So instruments, trumpets, you know, all these things are used of God. So that praising and worshiping and singing and instruments are all some of these battle plans that you can use to defeat your enemy. So the next one in this book has to do with dancing. And if you'll recall, there was a time that the Red Sea, you know, when Egypt was defeated at the Red Sea. Well, Miriam starts dancing. Moses is singing. Miriam is singing and she's dancing with the tambourine.

32:55 And there's something about breaking free in the dance. Yes. And I remember if you know who Ruth Heflin. was, she still is, she's in heaven now, she had a revelation from God that if you want to go to the nations, you have to dance. Yeah, I remember her brother. Yeah, and so her brother didn't want to dance. And so, but she obeyed the Holy Spirit because he spoke it to her. She had that revelation. And so she would dance and dance and dance and dance and dance. And even When she was in an airplane, she would go into that little tiny, tiny restroom in the back of the airplane. And she's about six foot tall. And she was a large woman. And she would still somehow manage to dance in that little tiny space because she was honoring the thing that God told her to do. And she went to nation after nation after nation. God used her in many, many nations. But her brother didn't want to dance. And he wasn't going to the nations until one day the Lord dealt with him. he had to agree with what the Lord had said to his sister, he started to dance. Under the power of the Holy Spirit, he began to dance, and he danced, and he danced, and he danced, and he started going to the nations too. And I've heard of other people who have had a similar experience where, oh, wasn't Sister Dorn? Yeah, I was going to, I was waiting. Go for it, go for it. Yeah, one of our

34:27 Bible teachers, you know, Sister Dorn was just an amazing teacher, and she was, she's Norwegian. Very staid. Very staid, maybe because of the climate, too. It's called the Church of the Frigidaire. It's what her husband would say. Papa Dorn, he called the Church of the Frigidaire, you know, the frozen chosen. So the Lord was dealing with her, and they're in a church, and he's speaking to her, you need to dance. And she's just refusing. She says, I'm not going to do that. And then the Lord spoke to her, if you do not dance, I'm going to remove my anointing from off of you.

35:10 That's too scary. And so she just jumped up. She started dancing. She danced all around the church. She went out the door, danced outside. And God gave her the revelation of the dance. And even in their church, I remember one time when the worship was going on, it was she's sitting at the organ. Yeah, she was the organist. And she took a break. She just stopped and looked, and the organ is playing by itself. The keys are all going down. And she calls to the, was it the worship leader? She waved at him, yeah. Yeah, the worship leader, she waves at him. And she points down at the keyboard, and everything's moving by himself, and she's not touching it.

35:52 And he gets slain in the spirit, just collapses on the stage. So if you're obedient, God will release things. Into you, into your church, into your ministry that you never dreamed of before. Very true. Very true. One of the things that Sister Gwen brings out in this book of scriptures on dancing, Ecclesiastes 3, 4 says that there's a time to dance. But first it says there's a time to mourn and a time to dance. And the point that she makes here is that mourning probably might have to come first. And sometimes in the spirit realm. In the spirit when we're travailing. Now, we talked about travailing intercessory prayer in one of these sessions called Pour Out Your Heart. We were talking about that book.

36:39 And that intercession, that travail, that groaning, that groaning, that weeping, that time of mourning. And when you know that you've prayed through, when you know that God has heard your prayer, the answer is on the way. You may not see a thing, but you know it in your knower that it's time. And then you can get up and dance. You can get up and shout. You can shout and you praise and you raise your hands and dance. And, you know, dancing makes a difference. Whenever I hear a good thing. When I hear a good report, what do I do? You do a happy dance. I get up and I turn around. I can't do it here because I'm wired.

37:25 You'll pull your headphones off. I would pull my headphones off. But I would just get up and do a little dance in a circle. It's my response in the spirit. When I hear some good report, I just get up and dance because I'm honoring the Lord. I'm honoring the joy that comes from my spirit. in response to something that he has done. You know, when I hear great testimony, that is one of the things that dancing will do. It sets you free and it honors him. And remember how David danced before the Ark of the Covenant. You know, he danced with all his might. He just, he danced leaping. Like Sister Doris said, he danced in his linen underwear. Well, I think an ephod was probably a little bit more than a linen underwear. But even so, he didn't have his royal robes on. He didn't have his royal robes on. And he was honoring God. This is a way that we can honor him. So if you haven't danced yet, I just want to encourage you. You can do it quietly in your room. Put on some music that is going to inspire you to dance. Or just if you hear a glorious testimony, jump up and give him some movement of your body. It's honoring to the Lord. It gives him glory when you step up and do what the word says to do. You honor him in the dance. Saul were going out to battles

39:01 and they were coming back having defeated the Philistines the women met them dancing It's a it's showing victory. It's a victorious Dance. OK, remember, you've probably seen pictures or videos of when Israel became a nation, when they declared statehood and the people were dancing in the streets. They were they were doing those circle dances that that that the word commands us to do. You dance before the Lord. Some of those words for dance means to dance in a circle. It really does. You know, like back when when we were kids, I was. nazarene church pentecostal church yeah and dancing was a sin i mean you yeah there wasn't any anybody up front dancing in the church or no no that that that didn't exist and and my grandma when the holy spirit would fall on her you know she would whoop and holler she was a nazarene you know yeah she would whoop and holler and she'd go out through the congregation She was the preacher, and she'd go down, whoop and holler, praise God, slap people, shake them. I can still remember that. Well, didn't she shake your grandfather? Probably did.

40:15 I think that's what that was. She'd shake him. Charles. Charles. Because God was just moving on her. That was prophetic of what was to come. Sure. And now we can just dance. freely before the Lord. But I remember a book that I actually saw at the Nazarene Church wrote about the sin of dancing, you know, because back then it was a worldly thing. God hadn't released it yet. It wasn't time. People didn't understand. They didn't understand. They were looking at worldly dancing as though the word dance was only that. But many people in the moves of God, with their eyes closed, would just dance. They would waltz, stepping over people. That were laid out. That are all laid out on the floor, even though their eyes are totally closed. Yeah. And you knew it was God. Yeah, they could dance right over. And I think that's what changed things. When people saw that, they knew that that was not their own natural thing. Yeah, there is a real dance in the Spirit that's inspired by the Holy Spirit.

41:20 Because that's what it's like in heaven. Yes, exactly. There's a lot of dancing in heaven. Because they've got a lot to dance about up there. Absolutely. On earth as it is in heaven. So let's do on earth as it is in heaven. So another one. Is raised hands. Yes. In the Old Testament, we'll go back to Moses. This is Moses and Aaron and Hur, and they're the children of Israel, you know, out in the wilderness on the way to the promised land. And they're fighting against the Amalekites. They didn't have any weapons. How did they fight? Yeah. You know, they didn't have, but God just moved. And so Moses is up there. He has the rod of God in his hand. And Moses and Aaron went up to the top of the hill, and it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed. And when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy, and he was getting tired. So they took a stone, put it under him. He had been standing for hours.

42:19 And he sat there, and Aaron and Hur lifted up his hands, one on one side, one on the other side. Joshua discomforted Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. Amen. That means they probably took the Amalekites' own weapons and went after them. Yeah. I mean, that's how I would interpret that. If they didn't have any weapons prior to that, the edge of the sword or the angels had swords. You know, they could do that to them. So that was the raising of hands. And even for me personally, when we're in worship somewhere in a church, I can't sit down. I stand up and I raise my hands. I don't keep them up all the time. They'll get tired. You know, that's just how God moves them because I can feel a breakthrough in doing them. When I need a breakthrough, just praising, you know, lift my hands, praising God. And I like to think of it as your hands as a couple of lightning rods. Yes. You know, okay, Lord, here I am. Zap. What's in a light bulb? You get one of these light bulbs, you can look through it. Yeah, the incandescent kind.

43:24 Incandescent. Yeah, I have two things and you got this little. Wire in the middle that gets lit when the current goes through it. Yes. You know, and you think of it that way, you know, these two little things, how you get, let the Holy Ghost light you up. Yes. You know, and he can do that very well. That's true. So there's probably other, now here it is, 1 Kings. This is out of the book, 1 Kings 8, 22 -24. And Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel. So this would be the dedication of the new temple. And he spread forth his hands toward heaven and he said, Ah, Lord, Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heaven above on the earth beneath who keep his covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all of their heart.

44:14 And there's a key for you. Welcome before the Lord with all of your heart. Yes. Who has kept with thy servant David, my father, that thou spake also with my mouth and has fulfilled it with thy hand as it is this day. And when they did that, and that's when the glory of God came down and the priest couldn't stand because of the glory that was there. And so something happens when you raise your hand and you praise the Lord. It's like, I surrender. Yes, that is the key. And that many times in an altar call, they would say, raise your hands and just pray this after me. You're praising God when you're doing this.

44:57 You're giving him honor, glory when you're doing that with your heart and it's opening up a channel within you. Yes. So you just raise your two lightning rods up and just let God move amongst you. That is such a good word. It's a part of body worship. You're getting your body involved and not just your spirit. And this is a command. Psalm 134, 2, lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord. Yes. So it's a command to raise your hands and to praise the Lord. Yes. Hallelujah. Then here's another one. This is Hebrews 12, verse 12. or for lift up the hands which hold down. Yes, yes, yes. The hands of many Christians today look like they are weighted down. They can't lift them up. It also says, and the feeble knees. It's a twofold command. The knees speak of intercessory life, and the uplifted hand speaks of a life of praise. We need both in order to keep balance. Some always pray but never praise.

46:03 Others praise but never travail in prayer. True. And the easiest way to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit is to begin to praise the Lord. True. That's how I got it. I always lead people who are seeking to be filled in a prayer, confession of faith, and then I tell them to praise the Lord. Beautiful. Yeah. And it's in the New Testament, Luke 24. verse 50, 51. And Jesus led them out as far as to Bethany, lifted up his hands and blessed them. And it came to pass while he blessed them, lifted up hands, he was parted for them and carried up into heaven. So the last thing we see Jesus do is raise his hands up in blessing.

46:47 And while they're lifted up, he gets taken out of their sight into heaven. And that happens sometimes. You can be in a worship situation. And I just want to mention too that there are so many wonderful places these days that you can go and get into a worship situation, and there's lots of them online now too, where people are really, really worshiping. But when you lift your hands, it's that surrender that enables you to You're letting go. There's a letting go that can lift you higher. That just like Jesus ascended when he lifted his hands, he lifted his hands to bless. And that's a major reason to lift your hands. You bless people with your hands. And you bless God with your hands, too.

47:42 Just lifting your hands in worship can help you let go of stuff and shake off the heavy bands that are keeping you earthbound so that you can rise up higher into a new place in God. We sing that song. Praise the Lord. Let all God's people praise the Lord. Shake off. Shake off those heavy bands. Shake off those heavy bands. Lift up those holy hands. Let all God's people praise the Lord. Amen. That's out of a psalm somewhere. Yeah. So to move it along, another way we have victory is through marching and walking. And that's a real key. Walk the land. That's true. When you're redeeming the land, walk the land. Prayer walking. Yes. The Lord has so many people has spoke to that. Prayer walking. It's true. And I remember it was down in Melbourne, Arkansas, I think it was. That's right. There was an intercessor there, and the Lord spoke to him to walk the city. And every day he would walk part of that city, and he died. And I think the Lord told him that as long as you walk the city. As long as you're walking, there's protection over the city. Yeah, and there won't be any tornadoes. And when he died. Nobody took his place, and it wasn't long after that a tornado hit the city. So there's power in walking and praising, like send Judah first. They sent the praisers first, marching and walking. As you're walking in every place which the sole of your foot walks, I have given unto you. And that's what the Lord spoke to.

49:12 It was a Joshua. And Abraham before that. Your seed will be forever, you know. And then when Joshua, and when they put their feet in the River Jordan holding the ark, the waters held back. And then they walked through on dry ground, walking through. And every place you put the sole of your foot, and you can claim that when you prayer walk, you know, I have given unto thee for God's purposes and his and his alone. Amen. Amen. Also, there's a chapter here, Victory Through the Document of Confirmation. And I kind of, okay, what's that mean? Can I go back and grab Victory Through Shouting? Oh, yeah, sure, go right ahead. You skipped that one. Yes, I did. Sorry. There's another chapter in here called Victory Through Shouting. And we're not going to do this entire book. If you want more, go get the book. But this chapter is Victory Through Shouting. And Sister Gwen goes through many different words in Hebrew for the shout. And I'm not going to try and do all of it. But two of them are very, very important. The teruah is also one of the sounds of the shofar. So the shofar has three main sounds, and there's one that's like a long pitch, and then there's three shorter pitches. Kind of like Morse code. Yeah, it's like... And then you've got this... And it's followed by... Holy Ghost Morse code. Yeah. And this word teruah is one of those sounds, and it also means to shout. So if you don't have a shofar, you can achieve the same thing in the spirit with a shout. Your shout that comes from your spirit within you, that shout of victory, that shout of overcoming. That shout that says to the devil, you get out of here in the name of Jesus Christ. That shout, it's like it increases your authority or you're exercising your authority when you shout. Like a parent, as a child, you

51:41 might not have listened until they shouted. Was that you? It kind of was me a little bit. At least maybe Dad had to show up with the flyswatter or the yardstick before I would move. But, you know, because he wasn't much of a shouter. But some parents have to shout. And when they shout, that's when the kids move. That's when there's obedience, when you finally come to that place of shouting. And so sometimes when we're in these battles, we have to realize that it takes the authority that comes in a shouting voice. Yeah, and there's that psalm. I don't know, didn't have time to look it up. Clap your hands, all ye people, shout unto God with a voice of triumph.

52:24 You know, that's a song that we would sing that. Praise him, praise him. Shout unto God with a voice of praise. Yes. So it's there in the scripture, you know, shout and clapping. Yeah. You know, shouting and clapping. Shouting and clapping, absolutely. These are all things to be, you could use in warfare. Yes, yes. And sometimes, you know, you just, you know, you just do that. Clap, you know. Get out of here. You get that strength in your spirit. When you rise up and do these things, that you're expressing the strength of the Holy Spirit inside of you. Yeah, when you do something in your flesh that agrees with the Spirit, you're connecting. Yes, exactly, exactly.

53:08 It's a real connect. And it has to do with making your flesh obey your Spirit. And your Spirit is one Spirit with the Holy Spirit when you're filled with the Holy Spirit, when you've asked Jesus to come into your heart. Your spirit becomes one with the Holy Spirit. And so when your body responds to what's going on in your spirit, that's what makes it takes you from 30 and 60 to 100 fold where you get into a greater level or a greater realm of strength that that is being expressed. And and you have greater victory. This is about learning to defeat your enemy.

53:51 One of the other chapters in this book, the victory through the document of confirmation. Oh, that's such an important one. Yeah. And the scripture here, Habakkuk, chapter 2 and verse 2 to 3. And the Lord answered me and said, write the vision and make it plain upon tables. I mean, they didn't have pen and papers in those days like we did. That he may run that reading. For the vision is yet for an appointed time. but at the end it shall speak and not lie. Though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry. The living Bible says they will not be overdue a single day. Amen. So it's just like... And many times in spiritual warfare, the Lord will speak to people to write scriptures on sticks or spikes and bury them in the ground, an area where there's been demonic activity going on. Yes. And they're praying over the land or your own property of your own house. Yes. When you do that, they'll put scriptures in. They will pound the scriptures, recite them, and put the reference on a stick, or you can write the whole scripture on too, and you pound that into the grum. It's written. It is written. It is written. That's how Jesus overcame the devil.

55:10 The devil, yeah. It is written. It is written. Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Yes. So, you know, all of the prophetic words that we have in the Bible, we have them because they were written. They were written. And we have to understand the importance of writing things down. When you hear something from the Holy Spirit or you get a dream from the Lord, Write it down. It will help you when you go back to it later. You think I will remember that and you don't. I promise you, you just think you're going to remember it. And what was that? Yeah, you got to write it down. You have to. Journaling is a huge, huge blessing to you. When you hear something from the Holy Spirit, write down what you hear and you're likely to get more. That's good. That's what happens to me. I might just hear a phrase.

56:04 And if I write it down, it's like opening a faucet. You know, there's more. There's more flow will come as you write down the things that God speaks to you. And so it's something that you can hold up and say, it is written. I got this word from the Lord and it is written. And when you're praying for your loved ones. One of the best ways that you can pray for them is to declare the things that God has declared over them. The scriptures that God has given you for them or the prophetic words that have been given over them or just even something that the Lord showed you. Like I'm thinking of Pastor Joel June, Bishop Joel June in Haiti. When he was a baby, the Lord spoke to his dad and said, this child is going to be used in a great way to bless this nation or bless Haiti. Something along those lines. I don't have the exact words. But his father was an evangelist and a pastor, and he was out preaching someplace.

57:03 And while he was gone, little Joel died. And they waited and they waited and they waited for dad to come back, and he wasn't coming. So they put him in this little casket, and they're walking towards the cemetery carrying this little casket. And dad shows up. And he says, what's going on? Well, Joel has passed away. He's in heaven now. And he says, no, God said that he is going to be a blessing to Haiti. And he hasn't grown up yet. And he hasn't been a blessing to Haiti. We're standing on what God said. And he stopped the whole funeral procession. He said, it's time to pray. Come on, let's pray. And so they all began to pray. pressing into God and they're interceding and they're praying. And all of a sudden they hear the sound of a tiny child sneezing in the casket. And they opened up the casket and Joel was alive. Set up. He was alive. Yeah, he was alive. And he's grown up. He was dead.

58:07 Yeah. Three, four days. Yeah. So he's been a mighty blessing to Haiti and he's not done being a blessing. We have a book on that too. Yes. Remember, I sneezed. I sneeze in my casket. Because God cannot lie. And that's the point. You get a word from God and you stand on it and you don't let go and you just keep pressing in and God is going to see to it that this is accomplished according to his word. Yeah. And there was one other, there was a few more chapters, but one we're not going to go into it because we have already and that's... The victory through praying in tongues. Oh, yes. That's so biggie. That is such a biggie. And I felt like we could have talked about it more when we were talking about the baptism in the Holy Spirit in that previous episode, because that is a way that the Holy Spirit prays through you. And especially when you're praying in this activation. of fighting.

59:06 You're fighting and you're holding out, defeating the devil. You know, when you bring that praying in tongues, oh, you know, there's a story in there that Sister Gwen told in that chapter that I think I need to bring, where she was in Hong Kong and this woman from the church was praying in tongues. She was at the altar and she's mourning and she's weeping and she's praying in English. And she didn't speak English. And it was, oh, Lord. Oh, Lord, please forgive me for my sin. Oh, God. Oh, God, please forgive me for my sin. I've sinned. Please help me. Please help me.

59:48 And it turns out that Sister Gwen talked with her afterwards in English, and the woman just looked at her blank. She had no idea what Sister Gwen was saying. And then she questioned her some more. Because the Holy Spirit had kind of told on her. And so she found out that she had been going to the horse races and gambling. Okay. And so the Holy Spirit was being faithful to help her to pray through in an area that she wasn't even intending to confess. But her soul was. troubled because she knew she was sinning.

1:00:34 And then there was another time, I just have to bring this, this is so important. There was another time that she was in Pakistan and she heard this young man speaking out and it was like kind of prophecy, kind of intercession. And he was saying like this, where's the church? Where's the church? It is so faulty. It's coming short. Where's it going? Where's it going? So many churches. Where's the salt? It's not his fault. No, no. It's the church's fault. And so he was interceding for the backslidden church. And he didn't speak any English either. Wow. So we've heard of other stories like that, where in tongues you can be praying in another language, and you can be giving people in the room instructions in their language without you even having a clue.

1:01:25 Yeah, it's a way of prophesying to people in another language, and it's a way of interceding in a way that the Holy Spirit knows what we need to pray for as we ought. Wow. I mean, when we don't know, he knows what we should be praying. So we didn't cover the whole book, obviously. I think you'll probably want to get this book and go deeper because we are all about helping you to defeat your enemy. And these are several strategies that will help you in your battles. So let's just pray. Philip, do you want to pray for our listeners? Well, Father, we thank you for... Lord, your battle plan. Yes. Because, Lord, we are all going through battles one way or another, either for ourself or for someone else or something else. So we thank you, Lord, that through your word, your instruction, Lord, that, Lord, your wisdom, Lord, when we ask you for wisdom that, Father, that you give it, Father, and how to pray when we don't know ourselves.
